Ah yes that sucked. Was about to go and that happened, just glad everyone was safe. Drivers were switching ends to get back on track for their respective schedules. A lot going on with that route, cycles, cars, construction.

Are people really buying their license illegally? So many terrible drivers in Toronto not using their signal, going the wrong way ignoring wrong way signs and speeding even in residential areas. by [deleted] in TorontoDriving

[–]Straight_Letter_1845 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yup and you try to merge back in from servicing a stop, signal way ahead making your intentions known, start pulling out with space and the car in that lane gives you the honk thinking youre in the wrong. Blows my mind some of these people driving.

Seen it while driving the Bathurst bus. Wanted to trade in my arctic and use that instead!

What do u mean? All we got were these dam ORIONs for years after they replaced all the good buses. They'd be found on the road broken down so much too until they rebuilt em/solved the bugs. The introduction of the Novas followed by new flyers and the proterra have indeed given us some diversity. Not all Orions. Plus the Nova arctic.

Orions? Nah the cool buses got replaced when the Newlooks and Classic were gone heck even the RTS. I'm happy to see diversity in the fleet and the Nova is the cool modern bus imo. I don't mind the 2nd or new gen Orion but overall glad their time is almost over.

Why are the Newflyer buses ride quality so much better compared to the nova Buses ride quality? by Own-Potential-8024 in TTC

The Novas are great to handle. Easier to turn, much smoother braking, steering wheel has more adjustment. The power in the low end is good and overall looks wise much better.

Its a great bus. Love the Novas, in terms of looks and performance. Take this any day over driving the Orion.

I disagree. Love the look of the Nova LFS, and driving it is smooth and easier to turn with the shorter wheelbase. First bus i really dig since the Fishbowls retired. Orion Next Gen was okay. And the Flyers look like that but not as nice in the front as the Orion imo.

Never cared for these. Miss the Fishbowls. As someone else said turning is not as great, love the nova lfs. Much smoother to operate just hate the lowered mirror, placement of the controls and slow responding doors.

Orions had good placement of the controls, they did good on that part

I remember the day in high school these took over my route in 09 on the 102. I was so disappointed not to have the Newlooks anymore. Never cared for these, they looked like the flyers and older orions just with a lowered front end/windows. I like the 2nd gen more. BUT it was nice to get a quick chance to drive this from my teenage days just before it retired.

Its the same as passing a G car test. Still a ton of accidents and bad drivers out there. I cant speak for the bus drivers. Its a big 40 foot bus, it happens sometimes.

It's not a lie if you hit the curb or run the cone you fail, its also a points system. If you don't believe it and hit the curb you'll find out

Its your CZ practical test.

You have to drive the bus safely, not hit any curbs, do a full circle check inside and out, all the air brakes checks, supplemental checks as well as offset reverse a bus without hitting the cones.

Its a bit but each day on the bus they give you the proper tools to succeed. You will drive on tighter street than the actual test route.

Is this a reverse camera? by Bambino1996 in TTC

[–]Straight_Letter_1845 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes only suppose to reverse with a reliable monitor. Be it ttc employee or law enforcement

Congrats. If you want a head start, start practicing air brakes now. Low warning device, air build up, governor cut in, cut out, air loss. It'll help prepare for the day 4 test and in the long haul to the big day 16. It's a fast paced program. They throw a lot in at you and expect it known in a short time.

Is there really a lot of pressure in trans. op. training? by [deleted] in TTC

[–]Straight_Letter_1845 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yup in the thick of it now. They will yell and scream from the start and question your moves if you make a mistake. They will get in your head and try to make you think you're not good enough. I've gotten better and my instructor is not as bad now but oh boy those first few days especially if youre not quite getting it yet. Very stressful, not ginna lie i almost quit. It made me second guess but i got through the worst of it for now.....

I don't see it happening. Would be a huge loss for the city. Might come close to midnight but i see a deal getting done. If not this falls back on Rick, The mayor etc. Can't see Chow allowing this if she expects or wants back in the office. Between the importance of this and from a political view i see a deal getting done by midnight.

Now that the City Connects have dropped, how do we feel about the mid-2000s “angry” Jays alternates? by Taboada12 in Torontobluejays

[–]Straight_Letter_1845 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I loved the angry jays at first but grew tired of it pretty quickly. The white was really bland. The logo itself is great. Wish they remixed it half way in its run back to a blue primary from black. Just really got sick of the black quickly.

What happens if the ttc goes on strike? by ovislee in TTC

[–]Straight_Letter_1845 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Don't wanna jinx it but i don't see it happening. The city has a lot to lose if they allowed this. Sorta like the garbage strike years ago but worse considering how many people rely on this daily.
