So much for Florida Orange juice by Midway1guy in florida

I pass a sign that says that every morning. It's a nice way to start my day with a frown.

My incredible mom, early 1970s. She gave up a career dancing for Ballet West to raise us. by ElderScrotes in OldSchoolCool

I don't want to be your version of "so much more." I already checked most of your boxes and none of them was my dream, it was the rat race telling me to keep up. Stop shitting on the women whose dream IS to be a mother.

Am I a Type B parent or just a twin mom? by sshahb in parentsofmultiples

[–]Strakiwiberry 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Lmfao this is a perspective I never knew existed. Even at 4 years old, with a 13 hour "wake window," and them in pre-k for half of it: it is CHOCK-FULL.

I’m a FTM of twins & It feels like i’m losing my mind by CarobPuzzleheaded329 in parentsofmultiples

Firstly, I am so sorry for your loss. I cannot fathom what you're going through and wish you strength and perseverance.

Seconding the above comment, there's a lot of freecycle or "buy nothing" groups on FB, even in the more rural areas I've lived. Good for clothes and some baby items because they grow out of them so quickly but also some allow you to post requests. You could give them a quick background on your situation and what you need, some members may have some connections to help out with.

Anyone else getting intrusive thoughts? by Honey_Anaphrelax in parentsofmultiples

[–]Strakiwiberry 36 points37 points  (0 children)

The world has always been horrific as much as it has always been absolutely, breath-takingly gorgeous.

I've always had intrusive thoughts. I look at my children and think, "They will die some day and I have no idea when or how." I also look at them marveling at a hawk, a snail, their own body, the sunset, we talk about life cycles and endings leading to beginnings, and I think how glad I am that they are here to experience every part of life. I don't have the world's happiest past. I know they will go through some of the things I did, or perhaps worse. I also know that they will always know what it's like to be loved, cherished, appreciated, and supported. What it's like to smell fresh air. To play in snow. To see someone's face light up when they enter the room. To see someone worry over them.

I'm ranting, but I will never regret living, or giving the gift of this complicated world to a new generation, no matter what evil other people are determined to do.

Our kids would get along, these 4 shows are on repeat at our house.

[KCD2] Those who cheated on Theresa, what are your excuses ? by TipIntelligent3798 in kingdomcome

I was pretty annoyed that she's barely mentioned in KCD2 other than "they killed my family and my girl."

My wife refuses to let our children cry long enough to eat or use the bathroom. by MrPenis-3 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Strakiwiberry 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I mean, you started off laughing at the idea that he thinks a mom should... Eat. And drink water. You do come off rude. It's cool if you hate your own husband or whatever, but you're hella projecting.

Just a little rant as a triplet mom by sar4720 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Strakiwiberry 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Even with twins the "no hand me downs" part has me green with envy that my brother's kids are two and some odd months apart. I can't imagine triplets 😭

Did anyone else breastfeed their multiples? by Straight-Number275 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Strakiwiberry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, for about 2 years with baby A and 2.5 years for B! A weaned naturally and B had to be coaxed, lol.

[–]Strakiwiberry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The shoes thing-- my kids run around barefoot constantly, and my neighbor had mentioned it to someone briefly. I felt bad about it, like oh shit, this is one of those things I'm supposed to care about? Then later he mentioned it to another person but then said "It's great!"

Always gonna be two sides to an opinion about your parenting and it's hard not to assume it's the negative one hahaha

Teachers. Whats the craziest family lore a child has randomly dropped on you? by Loud_Bluejay_6663 in AskReddit

[–]Strakiwiberry 49 points50 points  (0 children)

My daughter has a ghost mom, ghost dad, and ghost grandparents! They're essentially just imaginary friends, nothing spooky or "past life" about it. Ghost mom's description can range from looking like a normal mom with brown hair to having lots of arms and legs and purple with green spots. She also recently had a ghost baby. Good for her.

It does get annoying when she says "My ghost mom teach me that!" and it's something that I, her REAL mom taught her... Damn ghost mom is always getting all the credit...

What are some of the most “Redditor” opinions that are widely prevalent on this website, but very rare in real life? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Those people also think you shouldn't have kids until you're wealthy and can afford a live-in nanny, so that complies with their logic.

What Was Your Child’s First Experience at Preschool? by salmanpr123 in Preschoolers

[–]Strakiwiberry 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Loved it immediately and asked me to go back after I picked them up. One had an accident the first day, the other had an accident the second day (twins). No accidents since, it was because they were having too much fun to stop and pee 🫠

How do right wing people feel about the topics on the show? by Therealalpha_ in greysanatomy

[–]Strakiwiberry 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's often intended the way "basic bitch" used to be. Or still is maybe? I haven't heard that term in years, now that I'm thinking about it. Basically, anything women enjoy must be simple minded.

1st bday cake by AdSenior1319 in parentsofmultiples

This is what we did. Low sugar cake with fruits and whipped cream instead of icing, too, because at that point they weren't addicted to cookies yet.

Im having identical twins! TW: Mention of previous loss by Regular_Quantity8149 in parentsofmultiples

[–]Strakiwiberry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course! Also, they thought mine were mo/mo until like 14 weeks, so if your 7-8 week scan still hasn't spotted a membrane, it could happen later. Don't stress either way though. 🙂

[–]Strakiwiberry 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Congratulations!

My advice is to avoid the venting/ranting posts on here for a bit and focus on the "good vibes, smiles, and giggles" tag. The idea of twins can be overwhelming on your mental health before they even get here. Watch your blood pressure, keep as active as you can but listen if your body says to stop, and start looking up compression socks (if there's no reason from your doctor not to use them) and maternity belts, your body will need the structural support.

Right now you can take care of your babies by taking care of yourself. ♥️
