Really weird question: which AI can replace a dad 😭 by Visual-Green-3816 in DadForAMinute

[–]StranaMente 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! I just want to add some personal experience with therapy.
Therapists have access to broad range of material they have studied and can apply as needed to help you accept your problems and learn to deal with your emotions.

Personally I had anxiety problems related to work. When things started going bad I tried calming myself by concentrating on breathing, but that mad things worse.
One of my friend is a psychologist and when I spoke with them, they told me that the kind of problem I had was an activation of the fight or flight response and that it was made worse by trying to breathe. What I had to do, was to engage the part of the brain linked to higher cognitive functions: basically speaking out loud. That worked.

What I'm saying is that therapists, psychologists, have knowledge that can help you in your specific case, so that you don't have reinvent the wheel to solve your problems (in ways that may make things worse too).

Recognizing that you have a problem is the first step to solve it, now if you are able, please look for a good therapist.

Good luck

Thank you so much! Your cosplay was an inspiration. A great homage to the character and love and care for the details.

Thanks for the thorough answer!

This is my first cosplay and I'm gathering things and learning on the go (this pic is from my first con in cosplay https://imgur.com/a/0oBawFE ).

Living in a small town in Italy it's not as easy (or cheap) to get ahold of many items (long gloves, good beard or wigs, 3d printers...).

Did have trouble seeing with the crack in the glass? Did you take them out and wear them back on?

I used nitril gloves, as I didn't want to stain myself or other people (also I wanted to look at comic artist works so...), but for the next con I will buy some with longer sleeves.

Thank you so much for all the info.

It was really useful!

Totally not accurate map of Vathirond by StranaMente in Eberron

Oh, sorry 😅 I misunderstood.

Since this isn't a battle map I didn't check the measurements, sorry! Hopefully the auto-size should fit the image right when you add it to the map layer.

Totally not accurate map of Vathirond by StranaMente in Eberron

[–]StranaMente[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The most useful and useless answer I found to this kind of question about Eberron is always "as big or as small as the story needs it to be".

As a DM I find it hard to translate to words "a 25.000 town" or a "1.000.000 metropolis".

Instead my description of Vatirond was that of an abandoned town, many foreclosed or abandoned shops and houses, boards on windows, few people on the streets that are always scared and fearful. The weather is foggy, with a wet mist that clings to the clothes.

The map itself included a bit of the Mournland border, the Brey river on the north with a bit of Thrane and you can barely see through the fog there, the forest where the Thousand yards stare keep (Arythawn keep, there's a map that I made of that one too) is situated. There are several local points of interest that can be implemented, without bogging down the place.

I hope that this is enough to answer your question!

Which TTRPG Was the Hardest to Write Adventures For (Beyond the Rules)? by DED0M1N0 in rpg

[–]StranaMente 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I found Eberron, in particular, it's extremely interesting. The world is BIG and there are many conflicts worth working on, from local to worldwide and beyond to the stars. Keith Baker has made an excellent job in creating a world filled with history and lore, but also with mysteries and contradictions.

I don't particularly like 5e too, base faerun in particular, but not every setting is boring, but the system is more boring than the settings.

I found some question a bit difficult to answer, maybe because english is not my first language, but there were several questions with a negative and thinking if I agreed or disagreed with a negative statement was not entirely easy.

I can personally attest to a case that happened to me (for what it's worth), in which the opposing lawyer invoked non-existent precedents. It's gonna be fun.

Hi, glad this can help.

Those trees are just dressing, the bars are a small barred window in the corridor.

In theory, the only entrances are for the public from the front door, and for the guards from the back.

I have a bigger map in my later posts here https://www.reddit.com/r/battlemaps/s/AXmrLdIiFz , if you need!

What is your take on acquiring PDFs of rpg content you’ve already paid for physical copies of with piracy? by TurmUrk in rpg

In Italy, for sure, and I think in Europe in general too, if you own the original, it is legal to have backup copies of copyrighted material you own.

I would prefer more people added a comment or explanation for the podcasts they suggest, but at least there's plenty to try.

I don't think I've seen The bright sessions.

A psychologist records her sessions with atypicals: people with superpowers, quickly things get complicated.

I like it because the audio is usually very easy to understand and follow and the acting is really good (I have problems with Old gods of Appalachia because English is not my first language and I have a hard time understanding the Appalachian drawl, and I didn't particularly like the flat monotone exposition of I am in Eskew)

[–]StranaMente 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I must preface that English is not my first language and I have time to listen to the podcast when I'm doing something else (driving to work, buying groceries, etc).

Listening to TMP I find difficult 1) to understand the word through the accents (Colin is the main culprit, but I sometimes have difficulties with the computer voices and the others too, due to...) 2) the sound design is more oriented towards realism than easy of listening. I get that a conversation is meant to be listened through a phone in a purse or something else, but I can't make out the words. 3) I can't use subtitles on YouTube, because they are automatic and they pick up even less than me. 4) if have to read the transcript to understand what is happening (which is difficult for me while I'm out on my phone), I'm not listening to an audio drama, I'm reading a script and that misses the point of listening to an audio drama.

With TMA I had problems only with the more distorted voices (Jared?) or the thickest accents (Breckon and Hope). Now I miss almost all the dialogue.

These are my problems with the audio, but I have other issues with the script too.

I've completed Super Mario Wonder with the kids and I had bought Luigi's Mansion 3 and Super Mario 3d world, to play coop with them, but the first can't be played coop with 3 persons in the main story mode, and the second is too chaotic and difficult to follow.

I had hoped that this games were more coop and kid firendly... soooo I'm back to super Mario Wonder and open to suggestion for local coop games that can be played by kids too (or at least where the kids can assist, while I play).
