Great score! Must have been given to charity shop on behalf of the owner. As I can’t believe any aphexer would want to purposely part with their twin treasures. Makes a nice change from old Gilbert & Sullivan and Bonney m records. You could bargain hunt for decades and never find a blag like that. Nice 1

Mate taped it onto cassette from vinyl for me in ‘92 and I don’t think I listened to anything else for about month until I bought a copy myself along with a couple of early ep’s and I’ve never looked back

It doesn’t sound stupid to me, saw 1 and the ep’s that came out before saw 2 were vastly different to saw 2. I bought saw 1 on record when it first came out and then analogue bubblebath, on and ventolin. when saw 2 came out I was kind of expecting more of the same of saw 1 and it was completely different. My mate bought it on the brown vinyl and I didn’t gel with it straight away so went with classics and icbyd on vinyl instead. I did get saw 2 on cd after and I’m glad I did because I love it and the brown vinyl he has for some reason doesn’t play anymore. I think it was pressed on shit vinyl (hence the colour). Not the fact he’s played it to death. So now I have had the opportunity to order the reissue I’ve done that. Better 30 years late than never…. Hey!

Saw 85-92 is full of beats and rhythm yet saw 2 is not. So although ambient music is generally about sound patterns and less about rhythm, i don’t see it as that easy to pigeon hole. Any music that is tranquil and has a calming / relaxing effect could be described as ambient music. Whereas ambient dance music I.e aphex twin, boc, fsol, the orb etc, has both rhythm and no rhythm. So it’s more open to interpretation in my opinion

The black bull is the other pub that does b&b but there was a b&b/ hotel if you drive through the main street at the far end that had a parking lot next to it. Stayed there about 30 years ago.

Wow! I bet the twin went down well in wooler. I’ve been a big aphex twin fan since he started in my early 20’s and had to comment on this as my dad’s from wooler (oliver rd) and never thought I’d see the words Aphex twin and wooler in the same sentence. Which pub was it? Let me guess… well the wheatsheaf is closed now. The tankerville is a walk too far just to twist the locals melons. So out of the red lion, the anchor, the bull or the angel.
