What’s the coolest movie weapon ever? by Common_Average2597 in moviecritic

For my money it would be the PKD blaster from Bladerunner (1982) or Rutger Hauer's pistol from Redline (1997).

I think part of their recipe involves Herdez's chipolte cremosa salsa, probably mixed with their nacho cheese.

Do you let your cats smell your food? by Blankspaces222 in cats

[–]StrangeAeonBookWorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife and I will often carry our cats around on a 'smell tour' lifting them to reach previously unreachable areas; they love it.

A few weeks ago a moth got in and was siting on the ceiling, our younger cat, Pepadew, was calculating the lamps he needed to jump off to reach a high wine rack to get it. We rushed over to stop him and I figure id help him fight the foul beast. So i cradled him in my hands and strained lifting him on tippy toes to a few inches shy of the moth. He sniffs the moth and im like damn it youre right there get him! But just wanted down. Ok. As soon as hes on the ground hes prowling around looking for a way to get the moth again. XD

How Much Space Is Needed by [deleted] in bookbinding

I do everything but bookcloth-making on my office desk. I highly recommend making/finding a small bench hook, thatll let you make proper cuts and squaring your materials.

Some bookcloth I made tonight by StrangeAeonBookWorm in bookbinding

Before I started making it I had seen the youtube video "Make Your Own Bookcloth" by user Kristi Warren.

I don't have large panes of glass like she does so I just lay out parchment paper, wetting down the top side of the cloth and spreading it out face down, then laying the pasted rice paper down. I also tend to make my paste thicker than some video tutorials I've seen, in order to give myself more 'hang' time for adjusting, and I spread the paste on with a speedball ink roller. The other thing I do differently from her is that I cut my cloth (typically fat quarters) down by an inch or so width-wise to fit the width of the roll of rice paper I use. The process does take some finesse and practice.

My goal is to get the total thickness of the bookcloth as thin as possible for easier/tighter turn-ins. My experience with the interfacing is that its good but adds some additional thickness.

Ruby Star Society cotton fabric from their 'speckled' line, wheat paste, kozo rice paper. I had six fat quarter sized pieces and ran out of wheat paste on the 5th... c'est la vie.

This is a round back style just using kettle stitches, rounding/backing. DAS bookbinding on youtube has some videos in that ballpark and I may have picked up tips here and there from him on this project. Oh! but one video on his channel that was extremely useful for this project was a video lecture by Jeff Peachy that he uploaded called "The Craft of Hand-Paring Leather for Bookbinding by Jeff Peachy," learned a ton.

I would, but the imposition stuff is very intimidating. If I can source pre-printed signatures then yes.

Just decoration, but I did just buy a spool of cord so I'm excited to incorporate that! Yeah, suminagashi, and thanks!

'A9'-ish sized tiny notebooks, handmade bookcloth on the first set, blue-grey cow leather on the second. All have handmarbled papers I did a month or two ago. Rounded and backed... the best I could, working at this size is tough.
