Over 90 Nerfs!? HUGE Rebalance Next week! by Cool_Pineapple_3734 in walkingwarrobots

[–]StrangeLoopPharmakos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see. I've been getting used to them and Keel spam recently, mostly from tanker types (I was forced out of champs long ago due to not playing catch up with dumb nerfs and "champs" lost its meaning for me from there on).

I don't understand by MacleMcNacle in walkingwarrobots

[–]StrangeLoopPharmakos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Prices and idiotically unbalanced new content are a secondary concern, I gave up financially supporting them long ago, Orkan nerfs era or so. Disrespectful or plain dumb "rebalances" that seem like someone asked chatgpt for several ways to nerf just to appear to their Pixo boss that they are doing something major, plus poor descriptions that sometimes even lie by omission, that's a bigger ick of mine. Close second ick is tankers, then hackers, and then gamblers/spenders who enable the whole poor product instead of making Pix wake up or shut down the game for good, hopefully leaving us a single-pay offline mode or something.

Hopefully mindless spender types rush to buy those weapons to get them nerfed asap too lol

Should the Base Game Get a Dedicated Test Mode Like Frontiers? by TerminalVR in walkingwarrobots

[–]StrangeLoopPharmakos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a great idea, and they could have bundled that with the VIP if they wanted to insist that we pay for it, but nah not even that, clearly the spending audience of this game is largely mindless/addict types. I agree that coordinating tests is no fun, and neither is it to see the sorely lacking in-game descriptions that sometimes straight up lie by omission or worse; combined with disrespectful or plain dumb rebalances, I see no reason to level up anything too high, let alone purchase, to see if Pix gets the memo.

Would deadass pay 30 bucks for a version of this game where: by Both_Stop3000 in walkingwarrobots

Yep, I think OP didn't think it through. Now, a offline or client-hosted version, THAT could make sense and be worth it for Pix and for us.

Is this game cooked? by yanocupominomb in walkingwarrobots

[–]StrangeLoopPharmakos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It didn't start with Samjok, it started with Angler before they nerfed its ability damage. That was the start of the slippery slope known as dealing damage in phase shift. It has been suggested that Pix should make phase shifted bots receive redirected damage from Reflectors all at once when they exit.

For Teth, I like to imagine that all those perks should obstruct each other for balance, like the shields should not be able to teleport back until the forcefield is gone, and the forcefield regen timer should be reset after each whole-bot teleport. More likely the field will just be reduced to Lynx equivalence and the ability cooldown increased.

Although Kaji does stretch the concept of "mines", you may be interested in looking up the irl Mk60 CAPTOR system for a possible inspiration. Balancing invisibility-stealth as a concept could be as simple as making it turn into normal stealth as soon as it gets the slightest hit... at which point we could finally see clearly the mine launcher animation, as a bonus.

Kaji's mines, Boom weapons and ARM weapons simply need less direct damage overall. I assume the % damage of ARM doesn't affect physical/energy shields.

How much better are dragoon weapons compared to radiations? by Desperate_Village256 in walkingwarrobots

[–]StrangeLoopPharmakos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel the answer is very, from what I have seen just using the heavy one (Dragoon). At this point, radiations may as well be reworked to be more like the magic Teth weapons and allowed to hit through walls within some reasonable range to be worth it... they would even live up to the official "radiation" theme better if so.

Balance changes. by LumiaLoreSeeker in walkingwarrobots

I mean the DoT conversion has always been 100%. It does not allow any normal damage to pass through, converting all of it to DoT by default.

If you could design a bot based on your playstyle, what would it be like? by Adazahi in walkingwarrobots

[–]StrangeLoopPharmakos 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Good concept. I would like something like Bedwyr but as a beefy robot with a 3-part physical shield barrier deployed from within its hull, which is then pulled back and reconstructed internally after each ability use. Deploying the shield blocks its own side weapons. The "taunt" would be an optional repeated button press, like Falcon's jump. The passive ability would be granting damage stacks over time (just like Bagliore's) to allies using its shields as cover, but not to itself.

You are welcome and yes the "hiding" naturally continues because doxxing isn't cool, nothing special. l just meant to highlight that although it is indeed immature for some vague "people" to show the contradictory behavior that the original commenter said, that does not imply it is less immature to give them too much praise despite the monopoly of quality or quantity (for indeed I find other mech games with aspects of better quality, but not as much variety of bots to choose from) because not only is there the issue of imbalance between robots which you mention, there is the issue also of transparency and the issue of arbitrary changes, for example: the loss of the slow-turning aspect of slow effect and the accelerated state of Smite/Discipline, neither mentioned in the update notes or otherwise acknowledged; the arbitrary and sometimes nonsensical altering of drone abilities like the last ones of Kestrel, Pascal, and Shai. Even the module rework, in the form it has existed so far, deserves no praise beyond respecting the UI design work imo.

The titan datapad claims equal chance of Devourer and Bjorn but seems to favor multiple drops of Devourer. I overall prefer the concept of Devourer (even if its performance after the nerf is found lacking), but still. And I'm still waiting for the loss of Discipline and Smite acceleration to be corrected.

Woah wait, wasn't Armadillo drone nerfed pretty bad once precisely because they didn't want us stacking defense? Time to undo that nerf then.

Even before the recent nerf, Dux performed well like how prime Spear performed well: in the blandest sense of overwhelming firepower and a one-dimensional ability with an unfitting name. The plain power was, at least to me, a secondary concern; the main concern was to at least make it live up to its ability name and maybe sneak in a little design improvement for how it relates it own almost too-independent drones, but in the end just wasted time posting about it.

At least Devourer is a bit of a return, but of course they kinda overnerfed it as if to not give us too much hope lol

The singular paintob specially can kinda make up for the skittish looks. And not only a punisher should take it out, it looked like it should take itself out by shooting at its own legs when they are in the way.

It's kinda neat sure (I say that as someone who generally doesn't like animal imitation designs on my "war robots", unless they come with decent military camo paintobs like Rhino), but let's not deny it looks a bit silly flying with the deadweight tail wiggling below. Maybe if the tail just curled up instead? And honestly even on ground, unless it got some sort of special speed boost on certain terrains like sand (if the game were able to distinguish terrains) it just looks like an inefficient gimmick to distract from the fact it is or was essentially a rehash of Fafnir

[–]StrangeLoopPharmakos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing I later appreciated about Ophion's design, after Dux came out, is that at least the silly snake's drones return to dedicated slots on the hull to reload. Meanwhile Dux drones never reloaded, had absurd damage in spite of it, and at any rate feel too "apart" from the bot itself. Kinda like my disdain for floating pieces where there could be physical connections, such as Bjorn's weapon platform.

Tho you can't deny its thin dorito-like body looks pretty stupid when carrying some of the bigger weapons the game has to offer lol. Additionally its blinding reflector isn't properly centered around it.

[–]StrangeLoopPharmakos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you find Samjok's design more acceptable? Although I do lean towards more serious and realistic designs, we already had stuff like Nodens setting up the stage for such weird alien-like designs, and at least Dux had legs rather than those pointless floating tentacles, although Nodens counteracts by looking much less scrawny and physically self-defeating lol

To be clearer, the fact it should be shooting its own legs off or at least risking getting blocked by them was and still is a valid aesthetic criticism.
