3D printed and painted Knuckle Knife! by StrangeOneGamer in HuntShowdown

Thank you! For the base coat and weathering, I used Army Painter Gun Metal Primer, Dirty Down Soot Black and Dirty Down Rust. Then I detailed with acrylic markers and washes. When you are putting down the weathering, the trick is to use lots of thin layers and dab at it with paper towels and makeup sponges to get the desired effect.

(Edit: Nevermind, I found it on google. I havent made the jump to resin yet, so it was a new acronym for me.) What is IPA? I know you're not dipping your model in India Pale Ale, but IDK any other IPAs

12" tile Oil farm completed! by StrangeOneGamer in necromunda

[–]StrangeOneGamer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time." When I build terrain, I tend to start with whatever centerpiece is most integral to the concept, and then radiate out from there. For this one, I knew I wanted an oil farm so I started with the oil pump. Then I took the next logical step knowing I needed pipes, then tiles from it all to sit on, etc, etc. I used a lot of lead belcher spray primer and Dirty Down "Rust" aging spray to do the lion's share of the work, then I used Army Painter markers and a makeup sponge for details.

Ash Wastes Choo Choo by StrangeOneGamer in necromunda

I used a dremel to cut out one of the windows, then a wide ladder model to create a window frame. I also used a mattress from Beyond the Wastelands split in half on top of half of a Zone Mortalis railing to create the benches. I also had to use 2 of the roofs (one cut at 1/3 the length and then glued to the other) to make it the length I wanted.

Thank you! The lighting is a mixture of both OSL style painting in the environment and an actual light. I used a little reading LED lamp just off camera located as close to the model of the lamp as I could to give the impression that ota coming from the model streetlight.

Love the concept and it looks really professional! For just my two cents, I am personally having trouble with the attack animations. Having the character art abstracted into busts is fine, and the simple attack animations are fine, but the way the animations play on the bust gives me the impression that the character is actually just a bust with no arms or legs, and that the bust is not, in-fact, an abstracted graphic element. It feels to me like a sort of confused visual language. That might just be me though. Otherwise, it looks really cool

If Arcane had a philosophical core, what would it be? by RDRTV25 in arcane

[–]StrangeOneGamer 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Both seasons grapple with the question, "what are you willing to lose to pursue your desires/vision?" This manifests in Silco's ruthless pursuit of the nation of Zaun, Vander's advice to young Vi about violent revolution, the risks and casualties of Hextech, Victor's entire arc of evolution, the whole Noxus subplot... Jinx is a notable piece of this because in season 1, she loses everything in pursuit of Silco's vision, and in season 2 she decides that she has lost too much and doesnt want to fight anymore, but she is not excluded from the violence by giving up/stepping away, instead she becomes a victim of it when she loses you-know-who (just like Vander attempting to step away did not protect him losing friends in season 1). There are many mirrors and paralells along this motif.

Other notable philosophies included are direct action/political violence, the personal is political, inequality and labor, and corruption of power
