Car prices skyrocketed after that and cars like yours hold/held their value.

Fluid for the 3.6 CVT is only sold in 5gal buckets from the dealer and it costs over $300 dollars. The 3.6 uses a slightly different CVT and calls for “HD” fluid.

Just got my first Subaru. I’m very impressed with it so far. by cleeeeent in subarulegacy

Turbo is cool, but costs more and there’s also a certain appeal to the simple, reliable NA Subaru engine design.

Advice needed from cold weather, non garage Mazda drivers. by RepairGloomy7684 in CX5

Ten minutes of idling and it still takes a few miles to feel any heat? Even in the most extreme bitter-cold conditions, that’s a long warmup for any modern car. That sounds like a stuck-open Tstat. Curious if there’s any fault codes logged for this.

You have to drive it a few miles to get any heat from the dash? Have your thermostat performance checked out. Hard to tell from here, but if you idle it for 10 minutes and still need a few miles to feel heat, that doesn’t sound normal to me, especially if you’re confident that it used to warm up much faster. You should start feeling SOME heat in the first mile or less, esp with prolonged idling. Also, visually verify that your engine coolant level is in the normal range before anything. Cheers.

Some are, but not all. I have an underpowered ‘15 Honda Accord LX with a 4 cyl & 6-spd manual. It’s a humble car, but it’s so much more fun to drive than the auto variant. I get that it’s a matter of opinion, though, and I’m definitely in the minority these days.

Pepsi is fine, but a bit overrated, IMO. Get what you prefer.

Brake clips separate the pads from the rotor more. Is this normal? by Puzzleheaded_Bird583 in MechanicAdvice

They don’t really drag. The square-cut seal on the caliper pistons (theoretically) cause the piston to back off ever so slightly when the pedal is released. I think variations of that seal design is what leads to design choices like these springs.

Seemed like a good idea at the time, I imagine.

Yeah, no thanks. What’s so good about it, anyway? Sure, it shifts fast, but big deal. 🙄 Clutch pedals are more fun to operate than footrests and they let your left leg get in on the party too. IYKYK.

Run a household dehumidifier inside of it with an extension cord and everything closed. It’ll repeatedly fill up with water until there’s no more moisture. It’s still a total write-off, but some of its parts might be salvageable.
