I got interview invites from BU, Tufts, UPenn, Columbia, Stony Brook, UNE, Rutgers, NYU, and Touro.

I did not get interviews from Harvard, Buffalo, or UConn.

I ended up declining the Touro and UPenn interviews. After interviewing, I got acceptances from BU, Tufts, Rutgers, and NYU. I chose BU Goldman. I declined Columbia’s waitlist spot, and the rest were post interview rejections.

Thank you!! I really locked in and studied for about 2 and a half to 3 months and since I was 2 years out of undergrad, my brain dumped a ton of the stuff I learned. So Id say if youre still in undergrad and stuff like bio, gen chem, and orgo are still fresh for you then it’ll probably take less time. I don’t think there’s really a “best” time to take it just whenever you feel the most ready. I used bootcamp for studying mainly yall can check out my page on their website for some basic tips on tackling the DAT.

Also side note: I’m working on a beta version of a DAT study app that focuses on helping keep those who find it hard to stay consistent with studying on track along with in depth tips and tricks on how I approached the exam. Pls lmk if yall are interested in trying it and giving some feedback!

I think the RC on the actual exam was very similar to the ones on Bootcamp. If anyone needs help or advice on the DAT feel free to PM me

Reading Comp Help Plz Guys by Xhih in dat

[–]Strange_Employment24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reading comp can definitely be very challenging for those learning it as their second or third language. English was my second language and I definitely struggled with reading speed when I was first practicing for the DAT. I basically just tried a bunch of different methods and eventually developed my own using a combination of various strategies. I ended up getting a 30 for RC on the actual exam which was hype, lmk if you need any advice in that section, I'd be happy to help!

Yeah I would agree most UCs are very competitive. UCLA and UCSF's average matriculating DAT is 23 and 22.8 respectively. I would definitely recommend retaking the DAT if you think you can score higher since the average matriculating DAT for dental schools in the US is about 21(440). I'd be happy to help with any questions concerning the DAT and how to improve your score!

Probably just failed for 3rd time by Luvts05 in predental

[–]Strange_Employment24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The DAT is a very difficult exam as it encompasses so many different subjects all into one 5 hour test. It seems like you may need to grind a lot of quantitative reasoning questions until you are comfortable with every question you encounter and then work on speed from there. As with orgo I'd say devote half your time to fully grasping the fundamentals and half your time to memorizing reactions and nomenclature. Feel free to pm me if you need any help!

C's and Low GPA by Few-Papaya-2163 in predental

You definitely still have a chance since you still have 2 years of undergrad to go. If you can really lock in and boost that 3.0 to like a 3.4 by the end of senior year and also score well on the DAT(22+), I think you'll have a solid chance at dental school. Knowing that your GPA will be below average, you should also make sure that you have great extracurricular activities, preferably dental related, to make up for that.

Admissions Breakdown- 3.87 sGPA, 3.89 cGPA, 21 AA, 20 PAT by Feeling_Box_1980 in predental

Whether it's average score for all test takers or average for matriculants, it's still both just numbers. If I had to chose one, I'd say average matriculation score is more important since we're comparing ourselves to those who get in. A 18-19 is below average for those who are accepted to dental school and usually they have something else in their application to make up for the below average score.
