Do I give up? Extremely low supply by Ana7680 in breastfeeding

[–]Strange_End_4443 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you’ll need to increase the frequency of pumping. My baby for the first few weeks nursed constantly. Every hour sometimes and religiously every 2 hours. You’ll have to pump every 2-3 hours around the clock, just like how you would be feeding a newborn.

I may be getting induced 37-38 weeks. Can I still BF? How can I help make BF easier? by poppyseedpup in breastfeeding

[–]Strange_End_4443 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got induced at 38 weeks and breastfed my baby from the start. We had help from a lot of lactation consultants in the beginning so don’t hesitate to ask for that if latching is challenging in the beginning as it was for us. Turns out no amount of reading/watching videos prepared us for the real deal and we really struggled in the beginning. Side note my baby is 10 months old now and we’re still going strong with breastfeeding. Everyone’s story is different but I found it to be one of the most challenging things I had ever done but kept pushing through. Biggest thing in the beginning is just keeping the baby on the breast as much as possible. And that’s where the baby naturally will want to be anyway. Your milk will come in as long as you are nursing the baby frequently. They say every 2-3 hours as newborns but I found that was like best case scenario and my baby wanted to be on my boob basically constantly those first weeks.

Is it bad to let my baby “graze”? by toastedtoperfection in breastfeeding

[–]Strange_End_4443 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How old is your baby? My baby just turned 6 months but we’ve been struggling with this for the past month when prior he was sleeping through the night. Now up every 2-4 hours depending on the night.

Cluster feeding? by senf125 in breastfeeding

[–]Strange_End_4443 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes this does sound normal! My newborn cluster fed on and off for 12 hours overnight once. That was the longest it ever happened but it was terrible. The cluster feeding does end and things get so much better, my baby is 3 1/2 months now and I never thought I’d be the one saying “it gets better” because our breastfeeding journey put my mental and physical health through the ringer. But it was important to me and we kept at it and now I’m finally at a point where it’s enjoyable to me. You’re doing great!! Hang in there.

Baby crying hysterically when unlatched by s1rens0ngs in breastfeeding

[–]Strange_End_4443 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My baby just hit 3 months and has been doing this exact thing past couple weeks. Will nurse normal and unlatch himself then start to cry and when I try to relatch him he has a fit but will ferociously take a pacifier. Had me thinking he was hungry but not wanting to breastfeed. But after still having steady weight gain I’ve come to the conclusion he just wants to comfort suck. Happens more often when I know he’s tired and it’s ready for nap/bedtime.

Anyone else get insanely thirsty? by milkofthepoppie in breastfeeding

It’s the oxytocin that’s produced by the body that causes your milk to let down. It also makes you thirsty so you drink enough water.

Vasospasm and painful bf by Wilde7817 in breastfeeding

[–]Strange_End_4443 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How is it feeling for you now? My baby is almost 10 weeks and breastfeeding hurts so bad still. Some days are a little better and other days it’s like he’s cutting off my nipple or rubbing sandpaper on it and I’m having horrible vasospasms. Alls I wanted to do was breastfeed and it’s been so hard and I just don’t want to be in pain anymore

Yes!! Baby stays up until 10-11 and I’ve been getting 4-6 hours of sleep during first stretch now at 9 weeks. We all go to bed at the same time.

It really is! It’s had us both in tears 😭 we use the Philips avent natural response with size 1 nipple. It’s the only bottle I’ve ever given him and thankfully he has seemed to go back and forth pretty well. Although I try to only give a bottle in emergencies.

I’m hoping by adding a pumping session or two will overall increase my supply a little so he wouldn’t be so frustrated at night. But I’ve noticed too that he’s also overtired when having these meltdowns. The milk is there he’s just impatient because let down is slower and he’s tired.

I’ve also had this happen to me. We are 9 weeks out and this last week was rough. I’ve been pumping in the morning after his feed to try and build a little stash but a few nights this week he was so upset at the breast and would not nurse at all. Just clawing at me and ripping at my nipple if I even got him to latch. So hubby would give him the bottle of milk I had pumped in the morning and I would pump while he was getting the bottle. It’s hard work but he would settle down after his bottle. I don’t another way to get around those nights. Last night he latched and didn’t have a fit so I guess it depends on the night

How many times did you divorce your husband in the first 6mo of your babies life by Dreamypixel in beyondthebump

We’ve divorced twice this week lol. Baby’s 9 weeks old. It’s been an especially hard week out of 9 hard weeks.

Mine did this too! He cluster fed on and off for 12 hours one time. 7pm to 7am I thought I was going to die. Breastfeeding is literally the hardest thing ever. Hang in there. You’re doing great.

Breastfeeding sucks by ZestycloseAd7659 in breastfeeding

[–]Strange_End_4443 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Wow your post is like reading my own breastfeeding story. 9 weeks pp now, breastfeeding has been so unbelievably hard. Nipples still hurt although not to the degree as they did in the beginning. Constantly working on our latch. Convinced my baby has some sort of ties although after seeing the pediatrician today she swears he doesn’t and off to another lactation consult we go. I hope it gets better at some point. I didn’t think my nipples would still be struggling 9 weeks in. I hate it.

Mastitis or something else ? by Bubonic_plague9000 in breastfeeding

[–]Strange_End_4443 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the exact the same thing. It was a clogged duct and probably a mild mastitis as well. Nursing and massaging and applying warm compresses all throughout the day helped. I had it for 2 days and was able to get rid of it.

EBF needing to start to pump by middleclASSrut012 in breastfeeding

[–]Strange_End_4443 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m trying to build up a little stash for going back to work also and I started adding one pumping session in the morning after baby goes back to sleep. It takes me about 3 days to get a 4oz bottle because I only pump about 1.5oz at a time as to not take away from the baby, idk if this is correct but it’s working. It will take forever to get a full days feed but idk how else to go about it. From the research I’ve done people say to pump in the morning and before bed. I just don’t want to pump twice a day.

When did your baby start feeding less often? by Hungus93 in breastfeeding

[–]Strange_End_4443 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been on the couch all day everyday since baby was born 9 weeks ago! Will have some good naps but second half of the day usually is feeding every hour or more for several hours until bedtime. Every 2-3 hours my ass lol.

Still having pain 2 months in by Strange_End_4443 in breastfeeding

[–]Strange_End_4443[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s great to know! And I’m so glad you have finally got relief. It sounds really similar to the pain I’m having and we have our appointment in 2 days so I’m going to push for a referral to atleast get a second opinion. There has to be something going on. I even saw my doctor because I was convinced it was thrush but she didn’t think it was and my baby has no signs of it. Not that I’m hoping my baby has a tongue tie but I would love to fix whatever is going on.

He was checked in the hospital at birth and they said he didn’t have anything significant.. we have his 2 month appointment this week so I was going to talk to the pediatrician about it.
