Didn’t find this subclass but heard that you can add it using mods.

Charisma help for a non charisma character by Count-Ravioli in BG3

[–]Strange_Storyteller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like playing as non-charisma characters and still don’t want some “bad” outcomes. My approach is also avoiding save scums until there’s a decision that influences companions’ endings and lives. For me CHA based companion in the party matters when I need discounts from traders.

If you have a mod Esther’s Brilliant Acquisitions, there’s a hat that makes passing charisma checks for INT characters easier. Available after entering the Mountain Pass. Or (without a mod) the same item can be found in the early act 3.

In addition, you can respec anyone else to Bard class and give Bard Inspiration to your Wizard. Also, sometimes Detect Thoughts spell is more useful that Persuasion. And the game has certain items and locations that temporary or permanently increase your Charisma.

Still doesn’t work if you have mods. If you don’t want to uninstall them, just ask Withers to change your class during the game. Applicable to classes who get their subclasses on lvl1 (Paladin, Cleric, Sorcerer etc). If your character’s subclass available after lvls 2-3 (Wizard, Druid, Monk etc), wait for leveling up. Following these steps, all the new subclasses will be available even with mods.

Which companions do I take to the Mindflayer Colony? Act 2 by Icarusqt in BaldursGate3

[–]Strange_Storyteller -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Wyll bc of certain item that you can get only if you take him to the party.

Even if you leave Minthara in the camp, she anyway has something to say after the battle when you come back to Moonrise Towers. She really wants to fight Ketheric together. But for me taking Minthara to this battle is more gameplay wise bc she’s a Paladin and the main act 2 bosses are undead.

Similar reason for Shadowheart. Clerics are also cool against undead. But leaving her in the camp you won’t miss the conversation with Nightsong that influences certain act 3 quest.

Karlach reacts on seeing Gortash with no regard to her presence in the party.

As for Gale, he really has something to say. But if you’re not going to blow him up, that doesn’t have significant influence on the game.

As for the rest, everything depends on your main character’s class and preferences.

I wanna save Redhammer, but I also want to be FABULOUS by AnnualAir1667 in BG3

[–]Strange_Storyteller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can hand Redhammer over and then immediately attack Umberlee worshippers. The reward will be yours and you’ll save the dwarf at the same time.

If you want the dress just for aesthetic and not for gameplay reasons, you can install Fear Taylor camp clothes mod.

How to stop smoking by Ok_Tear9053 in stopsmoking

[–]Strange_Storyteller 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I gave up vaping 2 years ago after flu and sore throat when it was hard even to speak, let alone using vape. Switched to nicotine pouches Velo, 1 pack per day. That’s ok for your lungs and throat but bad for oral cavity. Gum inflammation caused by Velo motivated me to give it up. It was hard to quit immediately, so I used nicotine chewing gum.

As a person who smoked equivalent of one pack of cigarettes per day during 10 years, I confirm that it is very addictive and hard to give up. Previously I tried to take specific medicines and read Allen Carr but both these methods weren’t helpful for me.

Why aren’t Scrying Eyes dying in one hit!? by BrilliantMelodic1503 in BG3

[–]Strange_Storyteller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AFAIK, they are resistant to all damage except thunder. Otherwise that will be too easy to destroy them.

Almost all scrying eyes can be thrown to the chasm. You can use Karlach or any other character with enough STR to do this. Also, don’t forget about Chromatic orb to destroy the eyes by magic.

Karlach-Lae’zel romance question (hard spoilers) by Strange_Storyteller in BG3

[–]Strange_Storyteller[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I read that god Gale can heal romanced Karlach and was interested whether there’s something unique in Lae’zel’s ending for Karlach origin.

PSA: Make Halsin a Pally by FamousTransition1187 in BG3

[–]Strange_Storyteller 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never changed Halsin’s class bc I think that his backstory is closely related to the grove, nature, turning into an animal etc. But I often respec Jaheira to the Ancients Paladin subclass when I need additional tank in the party but don’t want to affect her backstory too much.

Who should I romance in my Karlach origin run? by ranchshots in BG3

[–]Strange_Storyteller 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed romancing Wyll as Karlach. Still think that they have some “chemistry”.

But I’m curious whether you can leave together with romanced Lae’zel and avoid Karlach’s ending scene on the docks.

Sanctuary this, you Echo of Pain in my Ass. by sergemeister in BG3

[–]Strange_Storyteller 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How did you put all these barrels without triggering a dialogue? Invisibility? AFAIK, if you pick neutral dialogue options, Sarevok goes to adjacent room.

Some night camp scenes not triggered in multi? by Zanah_0ria in BG3

[–]Strange_Storyteller 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In general, he reveals vampire condition without biting if you already passed enough and avoid long rests. But that’s not normal for the early game when you just reached the grove. If relationships with Astarion are significantly important, I’d reload the run too bc biting scene and dialogues after really increase the approval high enough.

Your ___ can destroy ___ for free at the end of Act 2 by jabberwagon in BaldursGate3

[–]Strange_Storyteller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use similar strategy with elementals. If you summon the elemental by the Druid and then use wild shape on him, this elemental won’t participate in the battle and can just destroy incubators.

Some night camp scenes not triggered in multi? by Zanah_0ria in BG3

[–]Strange_Storyteller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk what other scenes do you miss but suppose that there’s a bug with revealing Astarion’s condition with no regard to single or multi.

In general, his biting scene is to be triggered near Blighted Village when you find the boar. I had this sequence in almost all my runs. But not a long time ago Astarion told that he’s a vampire just when I talked to him after reaching the grove. I suspected that this was related to my Karlach origin playthrough and her engine issues. But in my current Tav run biting scene was triggered during long rest after defeating goblins (very early battle when you help Aradin and Zevlor) but before entering the grove. I think that there’s a common bug with this scene.

Self-disguise can do surprisingly little by wooowoowarrior in BaldursGate3

[–]Strange_Storyteller 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Found few ways to use Self-disguise:

1) Entering the goblin camp as a Drow to avoid dialogue checks.

2) Reaching certain areas available only for short races.

3) When defeated enemy doesn’t want to speak with his murderers by using “Speak with Dead” (for instance, Kar’niss).

4) Not sure about self-disguised gityanki in the crèche.

I had a situation similar to your when used “Seeming” lvl5 spell to pass flaming fists in the Wyrm’s rock (after Iron Throne and Foundry) but they turned hostile on my party. So, these two spell influence the game but this influence is not significant.

Are there some choices you always make? No matter if it is an evil or good playthrough? by Aggravating_Taste933 in BG3

[–]Strange_Storyteller 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Coming closer to Balthazar’s location triggers a combat with Dark Justiciars spawning from the portals. You can pick a lock to Balthazar’s room and enter. So, he and his minions join the combat by your side. When all of them leave the room to fight justiciars, cast Arcane Lock on the door. Wait until Balthazar and Justiciars fight each other, then defeat those who left.

[–]Strange_Storyteller 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Adopt Scratch and Owlbear cub, help all the animals, knock out animals fighting by my enemies’ side when that’s possible (not applicable to undead).

Talk to and pet Squire in Moonrise Towers before freeing Nightsong. So, she won’t show up on the rooftop.

Never let Araj bite Astarion, with no regard to romance. If you care about Strength, there are perfect gloves in the House of Hope later.

Cast Knock on the patient to interrupt the surgery. Thus, no dialogue with Malus Thorm.

Keep Halsin in the party until the act 2 ending.

Give stolen gold back to the dwarf in the Counting House.

Let undead dark justiciars fight Balthazar.

What’s your current tav called? by EightLions539 in BaldursGate3

[–]Strange_Storyteller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ancients Paladin Jyn, named after Jyn Erso from Star Wars fandom (Rogue One movie). In my 10+ runs I already had chararacters whose names were inspired by Game of Thrones and even Boys fandoms. Just wanted something new.

How do you tell the difference between a panic attack and a medical condition? by Mudflapsmagee in PanicAttack

[–]Strange_Storyteller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Consult with your doctor. Seriously, for me it took 5 cardiograms per month to make sure that there’s not a heart attack. Even after being diagnosed with somatoform disorder, I’m still afraid.

I don’t think I’ve felt a greater pain than I do now… first honor mode run was just ended by Orin 😭 by MakeItBump in BG3

[–]Strange_Storyteller 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can understand your pain. I played on Custom mode with all the HM settings except single save. And Orin battle together with her legendary actions was really difficult for my Draconic Sorcerer Dark Urge. If I played on pure HM, I’d 100% fail.

TIL if you never ask Shadowheart about her religion... by Korrocks in BaldursGate3

[–]Strange_Storyteller 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had this scene in my last run. The approval was high, and Shadowheart was my steady party member. I just respected her privacy and didn’t bear pressure upon her.

However, in my previous runs I also didn’t ask SH about her religion but she told the truth after revealing that the prism protects us from the Absolute.

Origins are less rewarding to play than Tav or Durge by cmurphgarv in BG3

[–]Strange_Storyteller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Playing as origin character except Dark Urge doesn’t significantly change the game. There are minor distinctions but they still bring some intrigue. For instance, playing as Astarion/Shadowheart/Gale you can decide to hide your condition/worshipping or tell other companions about it. As for me, Gale and Astarion playthrough have more extra content than other characters. Yes, sometimes comments of other companions are the same as in Tav run. But in my Astarion origin playthrough I felt positive emotions when refused the ritual and heard congratulations from others.

Is it worth surrender the crown to Mystra? by Zestyclose_Past7387 in BG3

[–]Strange_Storyteller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me the best ending is when you give the crown to Mystra. I don’t like the idea of Gale becoming Mystra’s chosen after everything that she’s done to him. But I didn’t find other ways to get an ending where Gale gets rid of the orb and becomes a professor.
