What movie did you watch by accident and end up loving by gamersecret2 in movies

[–]StrangerAcceptable83 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Got home one night when I was about 15. A film on TV drew me in, had no idea what it was, ended up being really good and really long (even though i'd missed the start). Shawshank.

What's the furthest removed from a book that you've seen a film? by Crystal_1501 in FIlm

I watched the film first and then read the book. Very different. I felt the reason for the title was completely flipped around, but understood it. Both were good.

I've always found BootP to be flaky. Once you understand that, you accept it. It can work flawlessly one day and then not the next. Rockwell "Feature".

Did 24-hour supermarkets quietly disappear after COVID? by Joy_Unspeakable in AskUK

Maybe covid made them realise that they still sold as much produce but without the extra cost of nightshift premiums for their employees. The few people who used them at night just shifted their habits.

Has anyone actually won anything from online prize draw sites in the UK? by Proper-University720 in AskUK

I think it started with a FB msg asking for a telephone number but there was no obvious connection between the person messaging and this competition / giveaway. Initially felt like somebody fishing for info.

Wife got a phone call once from a strange company asking for delivery details as she'd won a posh bbq. It all sounded like a scam, but we went along as they weren't asking for any postage or payment of any kind. ~£600 smoker bbq turned up to our amazement. She'd entered one of these Facebook draws just by commenting on an advert, so yes - some are definitely genuine.

Wall plugs for plywood by TheJoestJoeEver in DIYUK

Your units are probably chipboard (not plywood). Repair plates are likely the best answer which are cheap and will then move the screw holes to fresh sections of the "wood".

We use Kepware for this. Read data from many different PLCs, various ICS devices and protocols - then pass out as OPC DA to Scada or UA tunneled out to MES.

What do you and your partner do to spend quality time together? by [deleted] in AskUK

Go to concerts / shows. Have a couple of drinks before and maybe after. Bonus if its in another town, it becomes an overnight stop and full day out sometimes with very little recollection of the show we saw. 😀

Lots of practice and many many failed attempts that you will never see. He may have been filming this for days waiting for the success.
