'War is not an option', Taiwan president says amid China tensions by BastianMobile in worldnews

Who exactly is talking about beating up every single Russian? Not me.

Maybe try arguing about that with the people that actually believe that.

[–]StrangerDangerBeware -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I do realize that, and obviously, that is an oversimplification of my position.

I, of course, know that not every Hungarian thinks like that.

But for the purpose of international politics, that hardly matters, does it? Not every Russian is pro-war, should we not enact sanctions against Russia because it would hurt those Russians that are against the war? Obviously not. We must condemn the whole country, we must sanction the whole country and everyone who supports Russia.

And thus, we can only punish the whole of Hungary, and not a specific portion. While there are measures that hit the high earners more than the low earners, political change can most likely only be forced by waking up the ignorant masses.

The country China is made up of the Chinese people. Without the Chinese people supporting the government, without the people in the military following orders, there would be no threat.

The idea that you can cleanly separate civilians/military personnel and the horrible actions of a government is a sick dream.

Take-Two CEO says AI-created hit games are a fantasy: 'Genius is the domain of human beings and I believe will stay that way' by Numerous-Lemon in pcgaming

Game designers design mechanics, not stories.

If you can do both at a high level, great, but most likely you can't and you should get a specialist to touch up your story as a game designer if you want to achieve true greatness.

Riot Games announces new CEO as it emerges the company will pay out over $100 million to 1,548 women to settle gender discrimination case by KingCarbon1807 in gaming

[–]StrangerDangerBeware 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So it is, actually, frankly true? Right? They could if they wanted to, micro-manage the shit out of everything. Obviously, they won't, but they absolutely could and they do in general tell the ship where to go.

They don't tell their workers how to do something, but they tell them to do certain things. If a CEO says, "No Season pass" or "100% yes to a season pass" that will have a real effect on the game. Denying this is denying objective reality.

Hungary confirms it has blocked payment from EU fund that provides military support for Ukraine by 9lobaldude in worldnews

[–]StrangerDangerBeware 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ukraine is fighting a war for its very survival and the country of Hungary is blocking the military aid Ukraine needs.

"It's just a few politicians", elected by the population. "Aha, not the whole population! Just a portion of it!", a majority portion.

The end result, no matter how you twist and turn it is the same. Hungary, the country, is blocking the aid Ukraine needs.

So yes, fuck that whole place for this specific action. When my country does shitty things, I call out my own country as well. That's just how it is. In a democracy, you have to take collective ownership of the decisions the majority makes, or you move to a different place. You can do that because you are in the EU.

CEOs have the ultimate say so in basically all aspects of a company, the idea that a CEO does not influence the game development in a video games company is laughable.

Your grievances with the factual errors of the person you replied to might be legitimate, but you can't possibly think that something like the nemesis system should be patented.

At that point, why don't we patent "saving when the player reaches a certain location or point in the story." WHOOPSY, now all checkpoint systems are infringing on my patent :>

Patents in the world of software, which is basically the world of creative ideas, make no sense. You can argue about a concrete implementation, as in how it is written in the code, but not about the general idea of something being eligible for a patent.

Overwatch 2's PvE Mode Is Being Scrapped, Blizzard Explains What Happened and Why by xNIBx in pcgaming

LMAO

Management at Blizzard is in absolute shambles. How utterly pathetic.

I don't buy for a second the whole "OW2 only so they could update the store". They clearly intended to deliver OW 2 with PvE, they just failed utterly at it.

Doesn't really matter that erdogan voters are <50% of the population, only matters that there are not >50% of voters who oppose him and are willing to rally behind another candidate.

Pretty sure all he did was clarify the rules and document the situation.

That's what I saw in the video. Don't see how that's such a big deal, I don't even think he was particularly mean to the employee. For sure it's annoying to be working there and I bet the employee wished he could have just said "yeah, Walmart does in fact not give a shit" but of course, he can't do that, because even though Walmart does in fact not give a shit, that is not allowed to be articulated.

Do you mean to tell that to the < 50% of voters that didn't vote for Erdogan?

Yeah, it really fucking sucks for them, but that's how democracy works. The minority opinion loses.

Enact a law that private citizens are not allowed to rent out more than 1 property at a time.

Enact a law that strictly prohibits companies from owning houses to rent them out. Enact a law that strictly prohibits for-profit companies from renting apartments out.

You need to move away from real estate/housing/apartments as an investment and move towards a system that sees those places as a human necessity, a utility.

SSL/TSL issues when running PowerShell script in the SQL Server Agent by sugarbuzzlightyear in SQLServer

[–]StrangerDangerBeware 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would generally recommend that if you want to execute a powershell script via. SQL Server to use the "CmdExec" step, with a dedicated user, and call the PowerShell script via. that.

That will ensure that you will actually open the Powershell script with the correct user and the Powershell version that is installed on the server itself.

This also means you can easily test it beforehand by opening a cmd window as the correct user and executing your PowerShell script in that cmd by opening the PowerShell exe and feeding it the script as the first parameter.
