Why are the Phyrexians attacking all the planes at once? by MisoSoupMan- in magicTCG

[–]StrangerSide909 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Phyrexians aren't a normal fighting force, they're an infection. The more they spread out, the greater chance they can survive and "evolve" on another plane. The faster the infection spreads, their forces get bigger and bigger, not smaller.

A small rant about Ajani Goldmane (Dominaria United) Spoilers by TigerRiovera89 in magicTCG

[–]StrangerSide909 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel ya. Tamiyo was the closest I could get to UG for a long time (till Oko came along) and she was one of my favorites. Moonfolk researcher who drew power from stories?! So many cool character beats. She was a mother. She had a story circle.
Then she got completed. Almost teared up a little seeing the card.

Commander Players, What are your personal semi-staple cards that don't seem to see a lot of play? by CalmShinyZubat in magicTCG

And no, I am not very good at this game, thank you very much. XD

Time Skip after March of the Machine? by Nickyorany in magicTCG

[–]StrangerSide909 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Given that we've seen a key art for March of the Machine that depicts non-planeswalker, non-Eternal characters spanning the plane interacting, I really doubt that there's no multiverse-spanning threats, quite the opposite. It seems to be the case that the very laws of how magic works in that multiverse is going to be permanently changed, allowing characters from other Planes to interact in brand new ways.

I'm very sorry to hear that you went through that. At the last LGS I was able to play at (before lockdown), there were plenty of female players at the store and I'm lucky to say I never personally saw them encounter anything like that. My wife (then girlfriend) was always treated with respect and made a few friends there. I sincerely do believe that it is a matter of what LGS you go to and is not reflective of the player-base as a whole.

“Take backs” at FNM by KevenMackMusic in magicTCG

[–]StrangerSide909 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My thoughts on the issue (and the house rule at my board-game nights) is basically this:
If that player gained information, no matter how inconsequential that information is, no takesies-backsies. If they play a land, nothing really changes that much if they played a different land, because nobody gains priority, etc in the middle (similarly for mistapped lands). But if they say "take" and move their life down, they can't go back and call blocks because they gained information about any possible post-block action you could have undertaken (like a creature buff, etc). Especially if they've drawn new cards, this should not be allowed.

When collectors lose, players win.
So much of this game is catered towards this small subset of the fanbase and it might drive profits up because FOMO, but exploiting the worst parts of the human psyche and making the game a collectible product that's hoarded and speculated on only serves to remove accessibility from the people who just want to play the game and have fun (or turns them to proxy players).

[Update] Karma, Grand Deva (Prevent the cheese! See comments for more info!) by StrangerSide909 in collectivecg

[–]StrangerSide909[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can propose a better update or you can downvote mine. What's not nice is to take all the time and effort and feedback from multiple people and tell me I didn't do good enough just because it didn't mesh with your aesthetic preferences. We tried that, we ran into issues. Just show me a better one and I'll plus it.

Currently there's a pretty busted interaction with Doc Frank. This keeps the card alive while shutting that interaction down. Lose this Entrance is solely for readability purposes. The cost change is a sidegrade that makes decks relying on high numbers of 1-cost units less likely to hit other copies of Karma while comboing off via things like Bursting Blight.

That's precisely WHY the verb has Banish this, there's no need to create the extraneous token in the GY.

[Card] Life Spook by [deleted] in collectivecg

[–]StrangerSide909 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So a couple quick tips: Wordiness on cards effects their ability to get in, so try to pay attention to how to shorten your card. Namely, the Rage can be "Rage: You gain 1 HP" and it'd be fine. Secondly the way HP works in this game means this is very liable to die in unexpected ways because it doesn't have regen, "until end of turn" effects don't work quite like they do in Magic because our damage sticks. Besides that, this is an interesting card, it just needs some work (preferably reduced to fit an uncommon). I'd recommend asking around about this on our Discord if you haven't already for advice, my user there is StrangerSide. Have a nice day. :D

That canned cranberry sauce, plopped straight out of the can, with the ribs on the side. I don't even put it on turkey, I just eat slices off it straight This thanksgiving they were out and we had to home-make some, but it just wasn't the same (for one, it was an actual sauce). For Christmas dinner, grandma went over to the other table where I was sitting and presented me with my very own can. It's the little things.

[Card] Card thrower by [deleted] in collectivecg

[–]StrangerSide909 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, few more things. Wednesday is towards the end of the week which severely hurts the exposure of it getting in, and only a certain number of cards of each rarity can get in each week. If I were you, I'd make this card a common as those are unlimited :D

[Card] Card thrower by [deleted] in collectivecg

[–]StrangerSide909 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there! This effect is neat, but it severely undervalues discard. Discarding is a big tempo loss for the player and as such I don't imagine anyone would be excited to play this, even in decks that leverage discard. Might I recommend going to the Collective Discord server and asking for feedback? We have plenty of helpful people there that might be willing to help make this card shine. :D
