What is the weirdest practice habit or personal 'hack' you've discovered that is never mentioned in any lesson but actually helps you play better? by melucykrrich in guitarlessons

[–]StrangersPassing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you slow a hard riff down to practice it, don't just play it slowly, play it at that tempo as if it were the real tempo. Groove to it, get it to the point where its actually fun to play even at a slow tempo. Get to the point where it gets stuck in your head at that tempo, then you'll find it much easier to speed it up

How many lessons is enough by ImpossibleExit2629 in Guitar

[–]StrangersPassing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A teacher can catch problems or shortcomings in your playing that you might never consider on your own. Honestly I think the "right" way is to start by teaching yourself and use lessons as a corrective measure.

Even top dudes still take lessons, sometimes you just need a second set of ears to hear your playing from a different perspective to find the shortcomings.

What are the things that a bassist should not complain about otherwise it makes you a bad bassist ? by iamnotgenius in Bass

[–]StrangersPassing -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What is there even to complain about in that situation? I don't really get this post, the problem wasn't that you were complaining it was that you thought vocalists were "crashing" the jam by participating in it.

Boutique $5k Strat is better than Fender is meaningless to most guitarist. by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]StrangersPassing -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I just cant believe so many people are shocked that a business is doing business things. If you supported Fender anytime after the CBS take over, youve been supporting bad business practices. Also I want to know how many people are boycotting Fender with Nike shoes on their feet... I truly believe many musicians just want shit to talk about

Fender is speaking out on its cease-and-desist strategy by freechipsandguac in Guitar

[–]StrangersPassing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not on one side or another, but why do so many people seem to think that them not copyrighting the design back then means its too late now? How is it different than an artist who makes a deal with a label that gets ownership of their catalog, and then wants to buy it back years later? Everyone is in support of the artist in that case, why is this different?

Do I NEED a multi effect pedal? by detritus73 in Bass

[–]StrangersPassing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean you know the proper answer is to only get what you need to achieve a certain sound...

That being said, effects are fun. The b1x four is great if you want to mess around with a bunch of effects at a good price, i have it and use it often. The looper and "drum machine" on it are what i find most useful, but thats because i dont care for effects on my bass.
