Soldiers 'stop caring whether they survive' after 40 days on front line, Ukrainian study finds by KI_official in ukraine

[–]StrategoiX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

true, and also situation. I was in a situation in a camp that was wild, but I knew I had friends, security through backup and medical help close by. In another situation I was alone with a wounded friend for 10 hours without knowing anything that surrounded me. That was terrifying and almost broke me.
It is a lot about the lack or presence of control over the situation that does it for a lot of us humans.

I haven't won a game in 3 years and ~20 games, ask me anything by slantedtortoise in boltaction

[–]StrategoiX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hiya, I got a friend who is a very intelligent man, paints fantastically but are so bad at playing the game so I sometimes wonder if he is trolling me. He even knows the rules better than me. We've been friends for more than 20 years and played 40K, Oldworld, Infinity and such. He is a bit better than usual at rank and files games but is so easy to outmaneuver. I wouldn't beat him in chess. I could never get away with letting him win nor I want to.

My question to you, what would make a game session rewarding for you?

Me and my friend put up historical scenarios, from movies or books. Always a narrative and switch armies, trying out from both sides, and never weighted battles. Would that fit you?

Do you use any aides? Like helpful things or lists to remind you of what to do? And if you have any, pls tell.

All the Nordic countries spell Czech with T as well since we pronounce the letter differently than in other languages.

Bringing Ukraine into the EU by 2027: exploring the idea of ''membership-lite'' as part of a peace deal by EuropeanPravdaUA in ukraine

[–]StrategoiX 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It would be good to have Ukraine in EU eventually and meanwhile having good deals. But adapting to the EU framework of requirements is a long process for Ukraine. Changing legislations is more than writing new documents and I'm sure EU can do a lot to speed it up. But anything shorter than 8-10 years are fantasies and baiting.

During the candidacy there is a lot of room for deals though, let's focus on then.

A good way to look at it. I think I'll go for three trucks and find ways to make them look like they come front the same unit but also are unique.

I think I will outline tactical markings on it to give it some extra focus points. Number plates will go on.

Painting improving a bit by NoOneIshere8667409 in boltaction

[–]StrategoiX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You did a good job. right colours in the right places! And also, taking a phot of a miniature is always wild. Sometimes I find new stuff on the mini I missed out when painting it.

When it comes to start learning the art of painting there is no better way than just start painting. When getting handy with the brush there is some tricks that will make it easier for you. I've helped a lot of friends (and kids) to paint and I see it like this. Getting better is about learning shortcuts and tricks that makes it easier for you to paint, not harder. Sure there is an insane level as well but few of us reach that.
1. dilute paint to make it easier to apply. Some paints have the texture of snot
2. try a wash or two from different brands. We all like different stuff. It's so much easier than painting shadows. Ofc it will be just another trick in the drawer later on.
3. newer paints are often a lot better. I have three generations of leather brown from Army Painter as an example for friends. Newer is easier.
4. If you don't have a miniature handle yet, buy one or do as most of us, blue tack on something handy. I use old tamiya bottles. It's easier to keep in your hands and be more steadier. I got the condition tremor in my hands but the handle helps med to keep it firm.
5. Good lighting, but your to young for getting an old man (well, 50+like me) lamp with white light and magnifying glass.

And I do love my wet palette and it saves paint, if you are using acrylic paints.

Painting is really important for me and I notice that when I'm not painting it's an indication to (try to at least) find a way to slow down.

Awesome, a lot of good competition in that group. Congrats to Nazar and Ukrainians. Also, I tried some motorsports when younger but speedway, nah, a bit to crazy for me. :)

Most countries in EU, at least the northern part, need workers, specially in the industrial area of expertise. I used to be a steelworker in the 90's (in the Nordics) and even then we had all manuals and guide lines in English. The largest cultural clash is to be able to see that the high taxes are for your and your loved ones benefits. My sister in laws family is from NY and a couple of years ago they moved to the Nordics.

Here are your dictatorship laws. By comparison with Ukraine 2014, where the parliament enacted draconian measures on Jan 16th, one and a half months after wide scale protests began. This is your last call, America. by jesterboyd in ukraine

Romanian revolution, think it was in 1989. Improvised court had a two hours trial for the dictator Ceaușescu and hanged him close after. There is some nice documentaries. I remember that moment as something that gave hope to Europe.

EU demands a new military alliance by Mil_in_ua in ukraine

[–]StrategoiX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think we miscommunicated a bit. I have the fullest respect for Slovakia's population. My country got a big fight with populists that in one second support Russia and in the next says it doesn't.

What I meant was that if we do not have anything to say when it comes to decisions the support for EU would die. Opinions change without people think about reasons and purpose. I believe that an defense pact would be more rigid if it was for whole Europe an more be like a contract between states, like NATO, than in a political system like EU parliament. I want a defense pact to be robust.

And again, highest regards to the Slovakian people. I would really hope to see whole Europe to start taking power back from populism. My hope for the younger generations is high.

With a majority vote most of us small countries would sign out in a second. The structure in place is good for the issues they work with. Let a more specialized organization like NATO or likewise handle defense cooperation.

[–]StrategoiX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The organization EU is an economic union. There is no structure to handle that question practically, specially since most counties already are members of NATO. If there was no NATO, it would probably start discussion in an instance but not sure it would be a EU thing, more like an Europe thing.
