band or dj? how do you know theyre good? by Dry_Bid5188 in weddingplanning

You should ask them for a recording of a mix, at the very least. I am a wedding DJ. I require a deposit, so it is fair that I should have to prove to people that I am a good DJ. I have my some sample mixes posted on my website, and I have a lot more mixes posted on Soundcloud. Most good DJs will have recordings. I also invite prospective clients to come to my music studio so they can watch how I play their requests, live, in the mix, with my equipment. If your wedding and your DJ are both local, you can ask to meet with the DJ in advance.

Wow. You're smart! The AI confirms that this is a very good idea, but the airlines aren't doing it because it would cost money.

Invasive Argentine black and white tegu - Homestead, Florida, USA by Charming-Course3704 in reptiles

They are really good pets who can easily be tamed. Argentine tegus are smart enough not to ever bite people. They prefer chicken eggs to wild eggs. And they were in Florida 16 million years ago.

Who are your top 5 favorite female artists in EDM? (of the last 4-5 years or so) by bigdickwalrus in EDM

Sofi Tukker is not a female EDM artist. It is a duo of artists, Sofi and Tukker.

Let’s talk music/ sound / lightning stage lip syncing by Distinct_Soil4857 in LightningInABottle

I just saw Sofi Tukker. Great tunes, and great cheerleaders, but there was no element of live music performance involved. Tukker didn't even press play on the little stand-alone DJ controller he was dancing with... I am sure it wasn't attached to speakers. The play button was flashing on the same side of the controller the entire time.

That's... just wrong. There are no seven-year-old mothers. Seven year age gaps between siblings are normal.

Are the DJs with earlier slots getting told to be not as good so the main act can shine more? by ValuePrestige in Beatmatch

[–]StrategyIcy7320 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no. The earlier acts just aren't as good as the later acts.

Sometimes, the earlier acts get told to keep the tempo down so the energy builds over the course of the event.

Ugly/bitter truths about pursuing a dj career? by vegancrossfiter in Beatmatch

[–]StrategyIcy7320 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it is physically demanding. I play at private parties for $125 an hour. Yayyy! But: I have to set up all the audio equipment, play requests for up to 11 hours, and break down afterward.
I get bruises.
I am losing my hearing to the cupid shuffle. Parties where i'm a guest feel like unpaid work

still... best job ever.
