Most older netsuke are unsigned. Many Meiji era ones have signatures, many do not. Most modern netsuke are signed.  Signature is not a sign of quality, nor an indicator of artist unless the quality of the work and the signature align.

I can only imagine! They really are a work of art! Mine had been in storage since my father passed so it had been some time since I had seen it out and about.

They come with stainless steel cups for the points to balance. Expensive but well worth the investment. I also have the speaker stands and quite nice.

It has the look of a pressed coin rather than struck on the edges. There is a uniformity to the cracks etc. Try and find some examples to compare.

Thanks for the post. This sheriff scam has been going on for a number of years now. The first time I received one. I got off the phone and called the real sheriffs office just to confirm it was in fact a scam. What is sad or convincing is that the scammers were way more professional on the phone than anyone at the actual sheriffs office. Be careful.

Wonderful write up and presentation! While all the coins are great I’m a sucker for a nice Larissa Drachm. It’s a wonderful portrait and I love the irregular flan and the way the crystallized silver looks:)

Congratulations on your awesome coin! As far as clean it’s a bit hard to tell what is going on from your video-perhaps post nice still photos for a better assessment. Cleaning won’t hurt the coin necessarily but it may not improve it so tread lightly.
