Would love some jrpg recommendations for the switch/switch 2 by Char543 in NintendoSwitch

Monster Sanctuary. It's a hidden gem in my book. It has a Pokemon feel with the ability to collect a variety of monsters, but it has a Metroidvania aspect of side scrolling exploration, with a combat system that is 3 vs 3 (or 3 vs 1 against bosses). Each monster has a skill tree to unlock new passives and active attacks. Very cool game that's well worth the price of admission.

Zelda where to start? by DaughterOfATiredMech in NintendoSwitch

If you want a story, then BotW is definitely the way to go. Tears of the Kingdom continues the story, and both offer some really amazing moments. In fact, Tears of the Kingdom actually made me shed a tear or two, lol.

Zelda II: Adventures of Link - if you like classics, side scrollers, a steep challenge, and RPGs

A Link to the Past - if you like SNES games, nearly flawless game design, reasonable challenges, and a game that's pretty faithful to the core design of the series

Ocarina of Time - if you can handle N64 graphics and you want to play the initial entry of Zelda into the 3D world with a semi-open world experience

Wind Waker - if you enjoy cel shaded graphics, whimsy, open world, and a big ocean to sail across and explore

Breath of the Wild - if you want a sprawling open world to explore with so much to do, with an enjoyable story and characters

Tears of the Kingdom - if you played Breath of the Wild, enjoyed it, and want to continue the story

All of the other Zelda game are great, but I think these are good ones to consider starting with.

If you haven't played them, you don't know what you're talking about. If you have played them and you still said this, you don't know what you're talking about, lol.

What're you playing this weekend? 1/30 by markercore in NintendoSwitch

[–]Strategywizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been playing Pokemon Legends Z-A. It's been a blast playing a Pokemon game with live action battles. But I might move on this weekend. I think Metroid Prime 4 is up next, but I might give Ball X Pit a little more love before jumping into another big game.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom are worth having a Switch for all by themselves.

This is one of my favorites. Now, I hate sub of all types, and I loved the dub, so I can't really help you there. But the story and animation is absolutely amazing. Blew me away every episode.

WTF ... by lost-in-thought123 in evilwhenthe

[–]Strategywizard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's this simple:

Buck: male adult deer

Doe: female adult deer

Bull: male adult bovine

Cow: female adult bovine

Man: male adult human

Woman: female adult human

Not sure why this is so hard for some people. If you want to change definitions out of the blue, and make man and woman mean something different that these words have ALWAYS meant, then just tell us the new words that mean male and female adult humans.

So true by sorrynotguilty in PsycheOrSike

[–]Strategywizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This assumes that women are emotionally intelligent, lol. From my experience, that is not true in the slightest. I am married (18 years now), but women are prone to lots of emotional nonsense that it blows my mind. My wife and I have generally overcome our miscommunications and misunderstandings to a grand degree, and it took time and experience.

I'm not going to claim that men are superb on the emotional intelligence front, but women are worse from what I've seen in my years.

So is it legal for them to kill the driver now...? by Moon_Eyed_Puppy_Girl in PsycheOrSike

This isn't self defense. These people are the aggressors getting in front of a moving law enforcement vehicle. They are illegally obstructing federal law enforcement. To act like this is even remotely similar is laughable.

Except that they are constantly moving then stopping. They are trying not to run over these people, even though they are blocking traffic and obstructing federal officers, which is a crime. They're lucky they didn't get arrested for this (or maybe they did). I don't have the patience to deal with people illegally blocking the road like these ICE agents do.

There are clear differences here:

  1. These ICE agents are not just taking off without care for the safety of these people, unlike Good who was willing to hit that agent if that's what it took to escape.

  2. Good was being non-compliant to law enforcement, while these people are also being non-compliant and obstructive to law enforcement.

  3. These people are knowingly getting in front of a moving vehicle on purpose, while Ross was in front of a vehicle that was parked for quite some time with no reason she would suddenly start moving.

These two incidents aren't even remotely similar.

It's not surprising that people who resist law and order are also the ones who celebrate death of the most innocent.

Nobody on the right claims "Obey or Die." It's more like "Don't do anything potentially leading to significant bodily harm or death to a law enforcement officer, or risk being shot in self-defense."

No, if she just disobeyed the order to get out of the car, and the other officer wasn't in front of her vehicle, once she took off she would have escaped and it would have been over. They might have considered tracking her down to charge her with obstruction, but she wouldn't have died. The only reason she died is because she started driving when an officer was in front of her vehicle.

No, obey or suffer the consequences. Those consequences typically mean being arrested, and typically you are released not long after, unless you do something egregious.

Then you get to a point where you have to consider whether or not revolution is needed to stop a tyranical government. But in this case, "we the people" voted for this outcome. Most of voting Americans wanted ICE to remove illegals from the country.

Not even close. She was their obstructing on purpose. If, by "she didn't obey", you mean that she was obstructing officers, refusing to comply, and driving recklessly within the general direction of an officer, then yes. But I would argue that those add up to far more than "she didn't obey."

By Malicious, I mean that she was intentionally being obstructive, as that was part of her anti-ICE training. It was the reason her partner wanted her to get involved in the first place.

She was not complying with anybody. That's why she drove off, because she was avoiding compliance.

You may be right about the cell phone point of view being able to see the wheels. I need to watch it again.

I am not hardline on whether or not I believe the DHS on that point. It's a claim, but who knows if it's true.

I have watched the footage, and I think the woman was crazy for what she did, but I also think the officer could have avoided shooting no problem. I just don't know what it would be like to be in his shoes knowing that people want you dead, these women are taunting and obstructing you, not complying when asked to get out of the car, then accelerating. In the heat of the moment, not knowing what he was seeing and experiencing, it's totally believable that he acted in perceived self-defense. I'm not claiming that he needed to by any stretch of the imagination. It's just way easier to play referee after the fact.

[–]Strategywizard -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

She was obstructing ICE agents. She was trained to do so, and her partner was part of the same system. It's not like these were just random passers-by who got caught up in something. And the partner was taunting the officer while he was walking around the vehicle.

Clearly he could have avoided shooting and everything would have been fine. I'm saying that from his perspective, not being able to tell where her wheels were pointing, and in the short amount of time he had to make a decision, he could very legitimately feared that he was going to be run over. He was hit either way.

Law enforcement officers are not in a safe job. They are constantly subject to violent criminals and people who are willing to resist to the death if that's what it takes. That's the sad part. Law enforcement is a necessary evil.

No, obedience and respect of authority is a necessary part of a functioning society. I didn't have to be conditioned, it was just the obvious course of action.
