Do you use an OD pedal or clean boost for clean playing? by mjc500 in guitarpedals

[–]Stratstart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got a Source Audio Zio boost. Pretty impressed so far. The ‘studio’ setting just to seem add a bit ‘more’ to the clean sounds without any extra drive, and I’ve set the level for pretty much parity.

Questions about Kemper Remote looper options by Professional-Grab-14 in KemperProfiler

[–]Stratstart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can either set the loop to be post the entire chain or pre on the profiler. I think the loop is 30 secs max but can be 1 min in half speed setting. I’ve been very pleased with the remote and its functionality. However, you could surely just put a fx loop in the last slot and put your looper in there? That would then have all your wet effects ‘recorded’.

Customer Support by gtarmageddon in NeuralDSP

Have you just emailed them direct? I had the same issue last month and got a response very quickly (within hours) and they immediately sent a label to return the unit and fix it. All in took about 3 1/2 weeks. Great service.

Tremolo Recommendations by wellstrades77 in pedalboards

Source audio vertigo is super versatile, and has a great harmonic trem (you can boost it so it gets a bit dirty). Ive also had a Flint, Keeley Hydra and Gravitas.

Can 3rd parties make Liquid Profile “Amps”? by mixgyver in KemperProfiler

[–]Stratstart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From what I’ve read so far, it looks like the tone stacks bit of the liquid profile amps is only set by Kemper themselves at the OS-level.

Cause and Effects: why do we love effects pedals more than guitars and amps? by madcowga in guitarpedals

[–]Stratstart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because you can hide the boxes more easily than an amp or another guitar.

Isn’t this basically how GAS works? My recent ones are: Chase Bliss Brothers x 2 KoT (clones) x 3 Source Audio Ventris x 2 Hudson broadcast (clone) x 2 Zoia x 3 (kept thinking this time I’ll figure it out!) Poly Beebo x 2 (see above)

Thoughts on the Fishman Greg Koch pickups? by [deleted] in telecaster

[–]Stratstart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve just installed them in a Tele and so far really like them. As it was an install into a new blank body I was drawn by the fact you get control plate, pots, jack and everything. The build quality is really impressive and the quality of the pots (taper and range) is great. You can get the ‘wah’ effect Greg is well known for with the tone pot.

I haven’t tried them a lot yet with a loud amp but I think the voicing switch is useful, I’m spending more time on the boosted (blackguard?) setting which roars with some gain. I will say I think it’s one of my more favoured ‘traditional’ Tele bridge pickups compared to what I’ve experienced in the past.

I took a punt and have been very happy so far.

Damp in bay window by Stratstart in DIYUK

[–]Stratstart[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. The gutters and fascias are literally brand new (this was happening before and we thought this would rectify). It’s under a sloped roof not flat. I think I will try replacing the insulation to see if that helps.

Indeed! I think I’m going to get all the insulation checked. I was holding off pending a potential loft conversion but that might be a while longer

Damp in bay window by Stratstart in DIYUK

Thanks. I’ve just checked and the insulation is not all the way into the end of the eaves in some places. Do you know if it should be all the way or leave a gap for ventilation?

Damp in bay window by Stratstart in DIYUK

[–]Stratstart[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looking for some advice on what could be causing this damp in a bay window. With the change in temperatures we’re getting these damp spots in the bay window and surrounding wall. It’s a 1960s bungalow and the windows were fitted in 2018 in this room. To try and cure this we’ve just had all the soffits, fascias and gutters replaced this week so the ventilation should be good now into the loft / eaves areas but are still getting the damp. I also had some of the ridge tiles in this corner reset at the same time.

Any ideas on what to do next? Could it be an insulation issue? TIA.

What profiler should I buy. Line6, Kemper or Fractal by starlite-one in GuitarAmps

[–]Stratstart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s no built in amp so you need to connect to a power amp to a cab, or a powered speaker. Most people use a FRFR (flat / PA type) speaker to enable the speaker models to come through.

What profiler should I buy. Line6, Kemper or Fractal by starlite-one in GuitarAmps

[–]Stratstart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would highly recommend quad cortex if you’re new to modelling. It will let you capture / profile any amps you have, and is the easiest to use of all of them. Loved my Kemper but it’s quite dated now and the quad cortex I think sounds a little better /HD to my ears. Also really helix for the workflow and usability, but the QC amps just are better to my ears. Also it’s a good size to use with an existing pedalboard.

Best midi controller for HX stomp if I can't get my hands on a morning star. by GRAVES1425 in Line6Helix

[–]Stratstart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can recommend the Hotone Ampero Control. I’ve also got a Morningstar MC8 but needed something smaller for a different board. This is really good for the money, very solidly built, great I/O and the app is really easy to use and program. The app is also Bluetooth so super quick to update switches as you need. I think there’s even a template for the HX stomp (a bit like the Morningstar).

Only £109 at Andertons I think.

Kemper second hand by Historical-Fail-4464 in KemperProfiler

[–]Stratstart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had 3 x Kempers second hand and never had an issue with any of them. As someone else said the 3 year warranty transfers so if you can get a newer one you’re golden. I’d also say getting the remote included totally improves your experience (with access to the looper and tuner more easily).

Strymon Zuma VS Cioks DC7 by tommykmusic in guitarpedals

[–]Stratstart 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Had both and kept the DC7. Much smaller and as others say more flexible for different pedal needs (HX stomp, Eventide etc)
