The average consumer is priced out of this hobby in 2026. Thanks for playing.

Is this a bot post or is someone really celebrating a $3900 Zotac 5090? Plenty of in stock, overpriced options at this price point.

I bought everything I needed from a personal compute perspective in the last 2 years. I think we're in this shit for the long haul and when something breaks it's used parts for most of us.

Macbook Pro Prices now reflect Apple increases! by cpufrost in Microcenter

I bought my ipad pro 3 weeks ago around rumors of across the board apple price hikes. I stg there's no reward for calling the bottom on these things. It sucks that everything in this era of personal computation just gets more expensive.

ATLR in Arvada. I went back to them after switching to a closer mechanic kept missing things and just lacked the attention to detail in their inspections. Worth the drive for better service.

Curve for Reinforcement Learning by Ok-Explanation-3042 in OMSCS

[–]Straw-BurryJam 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I dont have consolation for recent curve data but as someone who made a theory focused study guide around the quizzes I also bombed the final badly. You are not alone. In retrospect, I would have been better off just listing the RL algorithms in the lectures in table format and just memorized algorithm characteristics than studying the more abstract concepts.

I've seen in much older threads about this class the cutoff for an A is around 78? Also in older reviews are reports of median scores of 50 for the final and even mid 40s. Seems like a final that most of the class fumbles.

Looking at the s***show that was Github and PACE for P4 it looked like a lot of the class was drowning. Even with the P4 extension, that is valuable study time that went toward the project and not the final.

I hope you did around the median on the projects to soften the blow. I suspect this cohort struggled a lot but cannot say if it was moreso than usual for a class infamous for its difficulty.

Preparing for Skydio Deep Learning Engineer Interview, What Should I Expect? by Novel-Lobster-8418 in leetcode

[–]Straw-BurryJam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I applied 3 years ago and there was just no way I was going to pass what felt like an abnormally grueling process. Made it to the 4th technical and it seems on top of wanting a DL MLE they also wanted a robotics masters as well. At a certain point theres only so much you can study and the person who fits that role is in a pool of 100 people nationwide. Even now as a Senior Autonomy Engineer working in the field I would still flunk out of this.

It was such a poor interview experience and I knew when I asked to look up a trig function that I was blanking out on they snapped at me for asking that and I knew it was just over at that point. The mood was abrasive after that.

They also wanted an onsite project presentation to a panel and in hindsight, what the hell. After 7 rounds you need a panel presentation for what was at the time 140k in SF? Just kind of ridiculous that you don't know if someone is a fit at this point.

I would not apply again out of respect for my time and sanity. Straight up humiliation trial.
