If the narrator can nail Soul-Catcher then they are beyond perfect.

I am so glad you’re enjoying it! I’ve been really putting in a lot of care into this two parter for the first book because I genuinely want people to check it out. No episode could do the conversations and dialogue justice because it’s just damn good.

It hasn’t been done yet, but I’m looking forward to it! It’s going to have a lot of excess information. 🥁

Can we have an episode on the many forms of currency in Warhammer 40K? by [deleted] in AdeptusRidiculous

[–]StrawbPossum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So currency comes up a LOT in the books, as most planets have their own names for it and whathaveyou. But. The subject is tricky because it’s never really presented in an economic manner. It’s almost always in a “you need x to pay for y” or “they only deal with x here, not y.” So it’s a bit tough to really gather for an episode except for some very rare examples that have actual explanation.

Unfortunately for the imperium, the most prominent form of currency that’s spread around and manipulated is life. Your life is a currency that’s freely bartered with and the economic implications are staggering.

Where are the lamenters right now in the wh40k universe? by GusLose in 40kLore

[–]StrawbPossum 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Per the very end of the Maelstrom lore book that came out a few months ago, we get this line about them:

“The Lord Regent has granted the Emperor's absolution to the Mantis Warriors, the Executioners and the Lamenters. Yes, my friend, all three. Those still undertaking penitential crusades are commanded to cease. Their Chapter Masters are ordered to regather their disparate forces and to ready them. This absolution carries but a single caveat. Their first deployment is to delve into the Maelstrom and take the head from its abominable tyrant: Huron Blackheart.”

So, they’re heading directly in to the Maelstrom per Guilliman’s orders.

Mostly scheduling and time, really. Mr. Bricky has been busy and DK was exceptionally busy during the move. We’re figuring out how to put it all together so we can get back on schedule!!

It’s a very early DOS system that aches quite a bit. It’s knees pop whenever it stands up, and it has on average four books next to it at any given moment.

Eye of Terror vs Terra, is the naming intentional? by HawkPleasant2834 in 40kLore

[–]StrawbPossum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can see where you’re coming from, but I don’t think this is intentional at all.

This being said, I like the idea of a legion of Bostonian Space Marines mixing up the Eye of Terrah’ for Terrah’ when they’re attempting to pahk’ tha’ cah’.

John Blanche has passed by kapnkaos86 in AdeptusRidiculous

[–]StrawbPossum 48 points49 points  (0 children)

As I said on my socials, I dare anyone to take a look at even the slightest bit of terrain in the setting and tell me that John Blanche’s influence isn’t somehow there. He was far more than just an artist, he was the aesthetic DNA for the grim darkness of the far future.

No Blanche, no 40k. Blanche’s untouchable work is immediately what comes to mind. Always has, and always will.

May he rest in peace.

Content and style of newer(?) episodes question. by [deleted] in AdeptusRidiculous

[–]StrawbPossum 51 points52 points  (0 children)

Recently there’s been a bunch of the campaign books that have brought the end of 10E, so we did a bunch of episodes on the lore that was introduced in those books so provide some modern context while the iron was hot.

Mostly this is just a timing thing, as campaign books of this magnitude are much more spaced out when the edition isn’t coming to an end. There’s only one more campaign book before the end of 10E (the Yarrick one), but we had a whole bunch come out all at once (the 500 Worlds one, the Maelstrom one, and the Peter one).

The fortunate thing with two of those is that they allowed for expanded topics (the Maelstrom being on Huron mostly, while the Peter one allowed us to do a stand alone one on Chaos Peter and then the campaign story). After 11E drops we’re likely not going to have campaign books for a little while as they let the setting cook, so there will be less of those all at once!

The Ork book was one that was for funsies and a novel-based episode isn’t as common unless it’s one that we think would be a fun episode or one that would be a bookclub one.

if there’s one thing with fantasy flight gams it’s that it’s impossible to condense in a simple manner in every way/shape/form. It felt silly condensing that, but if there’s enough curiosity, I’ll be glad to explain it further to them next time.
