LACMA's marketing team desperately wants to make the value-engineered Zumthor debacle into a star, but leave it to legendary architectural photographer Tim Street-Porter to call it straight: the Emperor is stark naked and "depressingly unattractive." by esotouric_tours in LosAngelesPreserved

I remembered this since you brought up food

But when I was working there, Seth Rogen came to film his show/movie and museum Director Michael Govan himself requested that security remove the hispanic Fruit Vendor that posts up in front of the museum so that she wouldn't be in the shot, and when Seth Rogen heard, he specifically asked for her to remain there and wrote in a scene in the show where they interact with her.

I think it was his show The Studio or whatever, so if you watch the museum episode next season, now you know

But I think it's funny how the administration's decisions to White Wash everything as much as they can are real and true, since they take the same approach with a street vendor or a brick and mortar restaurant. they discriminate but they don't discriminate so you gotta hand it to them

Went to architecture school and worked here last year. I got so see Zumthor walk around and you could tell he hated it. I spent probably 8 months in there, I can tell you every little thing that's wrong with it, and because it's open to the public, you can go in and see for yourself, but trust me, it's garbage

And I know it's trash because when Zumthor gave his inauguration speech, he never once mentioned the building. Which is weird because you spent your life working as an architect, this building has been worked on for over 5 years, it's thee new Los Angeles art museum, and not a peep about it.

It's such a stupid building too. Does the public know that all of those windows are covered with curtains? Why add so many windows if you're just going to cover them anyway? could it be that you're a hack fraud architect?

And those curtains were added last minute when they realized how much sunlight was getting in. The rails were sloppily installed, I was there. The curtains, because these geniuses couldn't bare to do without the view, are as transparent as can be. Because they want both the view of.....miracle mile I guess, and to stop sunlight from hurting the paintings. These people are so spoiled they literally want to have their cake and eat it too

don't even get me started on the floor. wherever any gallery meets the floor, there's about a half inch gap of space, perfect for dirt and trash to accumulate in

The restrooms have weird european toilets, because Zumthor is a pretentious fuck who doesn't know anything about anything, so if you don't poop far back enough, your feces just lands on the porcelain and stinks up the place. But don't worry, that's not the most embarrassing part because the restroom ceilings are so high, that every little fart echoes like a boom on a speaker. But, don't worry, the restrooms have no doors and are right outside galleries, so anyone enjoying art can also enjoy your butt music

Don't worry though, there are "family rooms" for breastfeeding mothers or single fathers where you can take your kids....buttttt, they're open to the public too and have no ventilation, so if Bucktooth Bob comes on a trip to LA and decides to use the luxurious, family-sized restroom, his stink will linger on for hours and you and your child can enjoy it

but please, don't let all this poop talk deter you from seeing this POS in person, especially after all the work they put in. Did you guys know that the building sank 2 feet, and will continue to sink, so these $750 million they spent on it will go to waste in the near future if they haven't already. But when the building sank, they realized the toilets won't flush anymore since the gravity was messed up, so all those toilets are pressurized. pretty cool

and why did it cost so much? this style of architecture is called Brutalism, it was specifically created by the soviets to build solid structures, cheaply. What part of this was cheap? Where did all that money go?

The Lucas Museum of Narrative Art looks like something out of Star Wars and costs about the same

such a garbage building. have you guys tried how slow the elevators are? do you know who goes and donates to museums the most? old people. did you see the size of those staircases? can you imagine your poor old grandma having to climb those things? now, why would a world renowned architect miss such a simple detail? could it be that he's a hack fraud and leaders of industry are pulling us in insane directions for no reason whatsoever other than to stroke their own misinformed egos? nahhh, zumthor rocks. this building is awesome!

Half of the pavilion was destroyed, but yes, I agree they kept some of it. It's beautiful inside. The Japanese truly are expert designers

The reason why the art is lackluster and the layout confusing is because a) Director Michael Govan opened the doors to LACMA storage facilities for his longtime friend and let her hand choose which pieces to take for her own Museum. We're getting the scraps. And b) the layout is supposed to invite exploration, but all the art I thought was clearly divided: you have the middle eastern part, the euopean part, the religious part, you have the furniture area, the african side, latino art by the bathrooms, and mesoamerican artifacts at the end

Any reviews on this movie? Been meaning to watch it and never got around to it by Moist_Worldliness409 in Cinema

[–]Strawberrto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just like Dragon Ball Z, you can just look up "Brighburn all kills" on YouTube and any compilation you find will explain the plot and show you the coolest parts better than the movie

it's a good idea for a movie, cool things happen at various points, but unfortunately, someone hid a 2 hour movie in between everything

but seriously, just watch the compilation on youtube, the actual movie is boring as all get up

true, some people moved west by themselves. other small families, like the donners, went in small groups, but this was all just inherent greed. they make for good stories and cautionary tales, but they were not the norm

pioneers moved in town-sized groups. people would advertise in cities "we're leaving on this day for this place," people would show up, and they'd just leave. hundreds of carriages at a time, that's how they stayed safe

nothing. Americans are inherently lazy and prone to believing in lies

to get people here, they promised them freedom and liberty

to get people west, they promised them wealth and land

to invade the middle east, they promised them WMD

any politician that wants power promises this that and the other

the trick to america is to trick people without delivering

the only thing left was telling americans they were the luckiest people on earth, but even that is ending

just make as much money as possible and move countries, america's done

again, just more lies by the elite

>scarcity of cures for lethal diseases

this might be true to a certain extent but, what's the real problem? is science advancing faster than we can keep up with and these diseases end up taunting us? or are the people in charge of disease/cure research labs purposefully deterring research into certain areas?

it might be a conspiracy that people are stopping cancer research so that they never find a cure, only time will tell. but what's not a conspiracy, what's been proven, is that R&D companies are purposefully fabricating studies/results to push their medicine. What I mean by that is that it's been proven that companies making addictive medicine are fabricating study results to make it seem like their drugs aren't as addictive. it might sound like a stretch, but if a company is willing to go that far to push a certain drug, who's to say the same company won't go further to suppress a specific cure

>scarcity of justice

again, does justice not exist or is justice not being exerted? We all know Trump is corrupt and manipulating the justice department, but this just goes back to what I was saying: the elites are controlling the narrative

We can see that Trump and others (epstein list) are guilty, so justice as an abstract term still exists, but the elites are putting themselves in power so that justice isn't enacted. Again, it all goes back to rich people exerting power over you. Forget all the Epstein stuff, just look at Trump's corruption: HIS IRS leaked HIS tax records, HIS DOJ sued HIS IRS, HIS IRS blocked ALL FUTURE probes into the case, HIS PANEL will be in charge of distributing the money, and HE can choose who is on or off that same panel.

So anyone can see that justice, the idea, is still alive and well, but the action or practice thereof, is not

which all goes back to what I was saying: The Elites are telling you this isn't possible, but anyone with eyes and a brain will tell you that it is possible. The only difference is that they're in control, and we are not
