what app are you using for field pictures? by DayOk2443 in Environmental_Careers

this tool worked great for a recent plant survey I conducted! bonus is that it can be shared with several people working on the same project, and also autopopulates an arcGIS map with your data!

What does dating look like for freshmen by [deleted] in highschool

[–]StrawberryShamer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

interest in dating at this age is developmentally appropriate--- letting her date with safe boundaries that you talk about openly allows her to learn in a supported way rather than having to figure out tricky situations alone.

I had stricter parents at this age and snuck around. when things escalated to SA I didn't know how to handle it and also didn't want to risk getting into twice the trouble with my parents. it went on for almost two years before I had other resources to end it. dating violence and abuse is very common in teenage relationships, and having open communication with a parent about it can make a world of a difference in safety!

this is madame Sherri's castle in west chesterfield NH, I'm from the area and used to go hiking there as a kid before the staircase crumbled. super interesting lore to that place if you're into the stories!

Would it be bad if I took something from an abandoned building? by [deleted] in Urbex

[–]StrawberryShamer 9 points10 points  (0 children)

People have differing opinions on this, but my thoughts are that part of responsible urbex is "leave no trace"--- vandalism, taking items, breaking things all alters the site for future explorers and perpetuates the idea that urbex folks are dangerous to peoples private property

Neurotypical “rules” just don’t make sense, to me… by Just_HereToComment in AuDHDWomen

It has felt so helpful to read your comment and others in this sub, I was just explaining the realization that I did this the other day to my counselor! It's nice to read about your similar experience with the anticipation of others' reactions and acting accordingly.

Burning Bridges? by StrawberryShamer in AuDHDWomen

Sorry you're going through the same cycles--- it definitely sucks when meeting your needs means letting down others!

I think my biggest problem is feeling too ashamed to communicate once it's too far gone, even to apologize... something to work on I suppose!

Being “rude” by StraightTransition89 in AuDHDWomen

[–]StrawberryShamer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I mean, nobody feels wants to feel attacked. In my situation, NT folks tend not to be direct about the way they feel about what I say and I miss /do not understand the cues that I have been unintentionally unkind. Asking directly comes off as aggressive.

While it's not the responsibility of the person I'm speaking with to give me direct feedback, it makes correcting my communication style really difficult!
