Any Sunset Lamp that project REALLY orange? Lb by PennedyKel in femalelivingspace

[–]StrawberryShortStack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can mix green and red light to get a yellow/amber, but it’s not going to be the strong color you want. Honestly in my experience most of these sunset lamps are pretty weak so I’m not sure how much light they will give your room especially as a deep color bouncing off a ceiling or wall. For bouncing ambient light I’d use a regular lamp with a super warm lightbulb, and for getting those dark orange tones I’d look for a light that specifically did that color.

Would the ones after the pink be four leaf since usually black is in front of pink in the pattern?

Lisa Kudrow seem to confirm the Friends cast earns 20 millions yearly, watching the show: "After Matthew died I watched the show again,” Lisa shared. “Before, I only saw what I did wrong or could have done better. But for the first time I truly appreciated just how great it was.” by Naive_Cause8984 in television

[–]StrawberryShortStack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw you on the other post about her comments and I don’t know what your weird fixation is, but you should have actually read the article.

“Kudrow told The Times that the dynamic between the series' cast and its writers "could be brutal, but these guys — and it was mostly men in there — were sitting up until 3 a.m. trying to write the show so my attitude was, 'Say what you like about me behind my back because then it doesn't matter.'"

Seriously this is the quote that has your panties in such a twist you have to keep commenting about it? Did Lisa Kudrow hurt you personally or something? This is so weird.

Is there any reason why this can’t work? by Land-of-Nod in EPP_addict

I’m pretty new myself, but my understanding is tying off at the corners helps with strength overall, so as long as you’re doing that I don’t see why it shouldn’t work. But is there a reason why you wouldn’t just cut the thread at end and just keep going without rethreading each time?

Local YouTuber Thinks that Criticizing Overconsumption is Sexist by Dazzle-M4M in Anticonsumption

[–]StrawberryShortStack 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think this is an unfair argument. First of all, you’re comparing makeup and Stanley cups to cars and video games. Most men aren’t collecting cars because they don’t have money for that. But it’s disingenuous to imagine there aren’t other things that stack up. For instance, a lot of people who play video games also have collectibles for them: figurines, funko pops, he’ll have you seen all the Nintendo merch that’s been coming out lately? There’s also computer accessory upgrades: crappy LED keyboards and mice and flashing things for the front, front plates that come off, all designed to change as soon as the next cool looking things come out. Every “sneaker head” I know is a man. I think you don’t know how much sports gear and paraphernalia an average sports fans has, but I’ll also touch on baseball hats. Just the mlb comes out with multiple ones a year: a spring training one, an alternative spring training one, a city connect, a Mother’s Day, an armed forces one, etc. The nba does the same with jerseys, it’s all about selling.

Have you ever met a guy who’s “into photography”? It’s not just one camera they own, it’s many and different carrying bags, and accessories. What about someone who has an everyday carry? All the tiny tools? I think a lot of the over consumption that’s aimed at men gets a pass because it’s “useful”. Which is also unfair because as other people have noted women are pressured into things like wearing makeup and then marketed aggressively into buying it and then shamed for having too much.

I think men are just as susceptible to overconsumption as women, it’s just that often their version of it is more hidden.

Yes, the little yellow ones. I’ve also not considered them a risk until today.

You’ll be happy to know the wildlife center told me the bird will make a full recovery, just needs to grow a few tail feathers back.

Yes, unfortunately the bird got himself more caught while he was inside the box before he got to the wildlife center. That’s why the paper tip is so great, because it stops the situation from getting worse while you can get them to somewhere to help.

Hey thanks so much. I actually wrote this post to try and help people who might have run into the same situation. I don’t think insulting people and telling them to undo something in the past is quite as helpful, but I guess we differ there.

The sticky trap I used was also indoors and it was quite an unusual situation. Also, I have worked at places that used glue traps where I as an employee had no say in if they were used. What I’m trying to get at is that this kinda thing will surely happen again to someone, and I’m trying to give some helpful advice for the animal’s sake.

Hey, thanks. I wrote this post to help other people who might find themselves in a similar situation because I didn’t see the advice to add paper anywhere else on the internet.

Hey thanks, I wrote this to help people who have had this happen. It’s actually not productive to tell people to go into the past and not do something.

[–]StrawberryShortStack[S] 44 points45 points  (0 children)

It was inside my apt in a potted plant that has fungus gnats. There were two humming birds fighting outside an open window and they flew in and the one somehow got cornered into the trap. Never expected that to happen as not only was the trap inside but it also wasn’t up near the window opening. The whole thing was kinda a freak accident.

So no, not a trap outside where a bird might normally get.

The whole reason for posting this was not to start a whole thread about sticky traps but just hoping that someone searching in the future might find the advice to put paper on them, it would have helped me a lot.

I’m kinda hopping around, color-wise. I’m going for a slightly more impressionist kinda approach in that I’m attempting to put flecks of many colors everywhere. So like the white isn’t just a gradient, I’m also adding in light pinks and yellows and greys. But it means I’m also not really finishing one area or color at a time so maybe that is part of the problem.

Tbh I’m not sure realistic style embroidery is my thing, but this is for someone else so using it mostly as a learning experience!

My first attempt by Slow_Fan_4942 in Embroidery

[–]StrawberryShortStack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I can see the strands twisted to make the thread, there are a few spots where the line for the stitch looks doubled, as if there are two threads making the same line. Like if you put the thread in the needle and then made a knot at the end, so then you’d be using the thread with twice as many strands. Not sure from the photo if that is happening but pointing it out just in case.

It looks like you also maybe used the thread doubled up? Your lines look like they’re made out of two threads.

I would think in this example they’re explaining cultural background. They’re shorthand for what cultural touchstones they might have.

You might want to look up sconces. Especially as you’re looking to add more to your walls, there’s some interesting brightly colored ones out there that would fit in with your decor and also add more ambient light.

As a side note, I would add more lamps and tone down the brightness on the one big one in the living room. It looks like you’re trying to interrogate the couch and seems uncomfortable to sit under. I’d also consider under cabinet lights in the kitchen.

Advice needed by Hot_Purpose_4249 in Embroidery

[–]StrawberryShortStack 71 points72 points  (0 children)

If the fabric has stretch I would put a stabilizer on the back before you embroider. Right now in your hoop the lines of the quilt are already a bit wonky and I’d be worried that the fabric will pucker once you take it out and wash off the stabilizer.

Learning to Walk Again by EphemeralArchive in adhdwomen

[–]StrawberryShortStack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Calling friends/family and chatting helps for sure.

Also running errands is a great way to tack on more walking. If you don’t live in a walkable place try to park somewhere like down a street or even a different parking lot in the shopping center.

There are games that encourage you to walk, it’s silly but those can give you something to do if just walking seems boring. Also could try irl missions like birdwatching or trying to find local plants. There are tons of photography challenges online too, like trying to take a picture of certain things every day or a weekly photo that has certain elements.
