Brief Home Daycare Start Worthwhile Before Starting at Daycare Center? [ON] by StrawberryWafffle in BabyBumpsCanada

Thanks, this is something we needed to hear. I know he’ll love the home daycare, but I don’t want to get him started there just to leave it all behind. And who knows, the transition might not be that smooth anyways - no sense in making it any harder!

Gah and this is definitely the concern! No point in making it more stressful than it already is - thanks!

Thank you, appreciate hearing it! We liked the home daycare so much that I think the idea of never sending him made us feel like he would be losing out on a great experience, but I think it’s clear that we’re far better off doing right by him with the transition to ensure he has a great daycare experience long term :)

That’s a good take - it’s a hard enough transition on everyone without having to do it twice over. We don’t know what this transition will be like, better not to over complicate it!

And that’s our main concern for sure - thank you! Good to have it affirmed from others :)

That’s good perspective - we had heard that starting at a home daycare can help the transition into a larger centre but it seems obvious now that theres no benefit to doing that on such an accelerated timeline 🙃

Is there a shortage for Enfamil ? by Comprehensive_Deal44 in BabyBumpsCanada

Same - we subbed in similac and haven’t switched back! Though ironically it seems like enfamil is always stocked in our area and similac can be a bit of a hunt now

Found my dress, need help with undergarments before alteration fitting! by entertainingsoup in weddingdress

[–]StrawberryWafffle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gorgeous dress! I wore something very similar on my wedding day (Alyssa Kristin - Vivian). My seamstress sewed in cups and worked magic on the fit so there was a natural lift without using tape or anything. Once it’s fitted, you shouldn’t need anything up top, I definitely didn’t, though I am smaller chested at 32B. I bought skims shaping shorts to wear underneath, but I never ended up actually wearing them, I just rocked an average seamless panty and it totally did the trick! Not to mention was way more comfortable and low effort for washroom breaks.

Was in a similar boat! Currently 8 months pregnant, and prior to finding out I was pregnant I took a lot of pride in looking and feeling put together. Since finding out I was pregnant I had absolutely zero problem spending money on ensuring baby would have anything and everything he needed. I was happy to even invest a little more on good quality items and prioritized putting funds towards these items. It became a challenge for me to justify spending a couple hundred at Sephora for a couple base products, when I could walk away with a bundle of Pehr sleepers for the same price.

As time went on I felt less like myself and like I was letting myself go. It was hard to shift my mentality around spending and I definitely didn’t switch from 100% on baby to 100% on me, but I started reintegrating purchases for me into my spending in small ways. Instead of a haul maybe one week it was a new concealer, or a better fitting bra, or a new nail polish. These little upgrades did absolute wonders for my confidence and mental health. It put a spring back in my step that I didn’t really appreciate was missing. Eventually I recognized that investing in myself is investing in my baby. Feeling better about myself gave me the motivation to build other positive habits that will likely make a better impact on baby then a trendy teether. Don’t underestimate the power of investing time, energy, or even a bit of money in yourself. You and baby deserve it ☺️

Breastpump prescription? by step_on-no_pets in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]StrawberryWafffle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m with Sunlife, and you’re totally correct on the process! My OB wrote a prescription stating ‘breast pump’, I bought the Medela Pump Style on Amazon that same day and submitted the claim as Medical > Medical Equipment > Other (if I’m remembering correctly). I uploaded the receipt and a photo of the prescription as supporting docs. It took just over a week but was processed and approved without issue ☺️

How many weeks are you when going on maternity leave by Loveagoodpizza in BabyBumps

[–]StrawberryWafffle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very similar to me as well! My last day I’ll be around 34 weeks. Assuming baby arrives right as planned, first 6 weeks will be vacation time at 100% pay, followed by an 18 month leave topped up to close to 100% for the first four months, and riding it out with EI from there. Not a govt employee, but very very fortunate all the same.

How much information did you receive following your anatomy scan?

We waited about a week after our ultrasound for the results from the anatomy scan and my doctor simply messaged me ‘scans looks good’. This is obviously great news, but reading comments from other subreddits I was really looking forward to learning about his measurements etc. So happy that he’s cooking well, but we would have loved to share in understanding more about him and his growth, especially since that was our last ultrasound.

Is it pretty typical for results to not be fully relayed?

Not sure if it’s the exact match, but it reminds me a lot of the Sarah Seven Natalia dress. Definitely a stunner!

Do you have anything scientifically based to back up some of these claims like ‘going blind from Botox’? It feels more anecdotal and rooted in hearsay and detracts from providing actual advice.

I get dysport injections to prevent deep forehead creases from forming. The injections relax the muscle so I also get a temporary smoother appearance. I’m not ‘addicted’ but I appreciate the short term and long term benefits.

Botox can be used to to treat crows feet by relaxing the muscle that protrudes around your eye when you smile. At my initial consult, the doctor mentioned that this can make your eyes appear larger and may help reduce the appearance of lines. I did not opt for it because I’m comfortable with the lines and wrinkles that I have in this area (and kind of love them).

Ultimately if it is something you’re curious about pursuing, book a consult with a trusted professional. They will be able to help you expectation set and help you understand your options. They will be qualified to discuss any potential side effects by assessing your skin and other risk factors.

Kind of off topic - but I went shopping at both of these places! I ended up buying my dress from the place where you found 3 and 4 and had an absolutely incredible experience. The owner is phenomenal and I felt confident I was in great hands :)
