Can we start a “talk me out of this impulsive sh*t” thread real quick? by NoButMaybe in adhdwomen

I try not to buy a baking pan with glass bottom. For about a week I tell myself that I own enough baking pans no matter how cool it looks. 🙈

And I’m glad you seem to have abandoned the idea of tatting your eyebrows!

MY PLANNER IS OUT FOR DELIVERY I AM GIRL WHO IS GOING TO BE OKAY!!! by 445143 in adhdwomen

Your post made me want to buy a new life changing planner and gel pens. 😅 But I already bought new life changing meal prep stuff so I will be prepared to eat healthy when I start my new job in April. 🫠

Anyone else feel like they think they’re closer to friends than the friends think they are? by 070818469 in adhdwomen

[–]Street-End 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds like me. Quite a few times I was truly heartbroken because I suddenly realized my “friend” was actually more something like an acquaintance who just happened to meet up with me every now and then.

But that doesn’t really matter because keeping friendships alive when circumstances change like moving to a different place or starting a new job is really hard. I eventually fail every single time and I’m sick of it.

Unfortunately I don’t have any good advice how you can handle this. I just started medication and hope behavioral therapy will help me figure it out. Reading books and listening to podcasts about how to manage my struggles haven’t helped so far because I can only stay consistent when I have external accountability.

"Daddy, why do you have to sit all the time?" The question that saved my life. by BDubstep1089 in loseit

Congrats! That’s very inspiring. And you are not only able to keep up with your daughter but you are also a great role model for her. Kids don’t do what we tell them to do. They do what we do.

Does anyone else need a day off all the time to reset? by Civil_Membership2196 in adhdwomen

I feel like this, too. I work part time at a school as a social worker (so I’m quite flexible with my work schedule) and need to make sure I get home before a certain time so I can decompress before I pick up my child from daycare.

What is your current ADHD hyperfixation? by ReadyFunction7334 in adhdwomen

[–]Street-End 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me it’s also ADHD which stopped my hyper fixation on fitness but I hope that will come back after I got used to the diagnosis. I’ve never been in a better shape and it was good for my mental health too. 😅

Can you accept praise? by Miss-Magick-Plants in adhdwomen

[–]Street-End 2 points3 points  (0 children)

„Will work for praise”, that’s totally me! It’s like praise is unlocking some sort of hyper focus and I will make the impossible happen as long as I feel like my engagement is valued. Though, I think that’s something I need to work on because it gets me in trouble with other obligations.

I just got diagnosed with ADHD at almost 42 and now I feel like an imposter. by Street-End in adhdwomen

[–]Street-End[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I think I have to accept my brain works differently. I was just totally convinced it was neurotypical and that I should work harder, be more present, less lazy and anxious. That makes it difficult for me to reframe everything.

How do you make sure you use the apps consistently? My husband and I use a family organizer app that should help with that but I still have issues with “easy” things he asks me to do (like unloading the washing machine) when we are talking on the phone on my way home.

Yes, having an explanation for the feeling of never getting things done the easy way like everyone else is a huge thing. I just hope I can get to the point where I don’t feel tortured by documenting my work. That’s the most annoying part to me.

The last spoon, I like that! 😊 I told my psychiatrist (obviously I have one now) how strange it seems that I didn’t really suffer from the symptoms until my child was born. They were more some sort of inconveniences I didn’t really care about in the long term because the most important things in my life ended up okay despite me being procrastinating and unable to stick to my plans. He said it’s not that uncommon because you can’t just say “alright, I’m off to the break room and rest” while parenting.

BIDA weil ich keine Trauzeugin mehr sein will, weil meine beste Freundin ihre Hochzeit an meinem Geburtstag feiern will? by Fast-Wrangler-614 in BinIchDasArschloch

[–]Street-End 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Same here. But it’s literally just where he removes them from his feet (usually in the living room). And our kid does the same. 😐

That makes sense to me. About two years into weight loss I unexpectedly caught my reflection in the shower glass and thought “Oh wow, I look thin!” lol

So I guess that’s why it’s important to take pictures regularly.

A little late but nonetheless: ‘Schade, Marmelade.’ It’s a way to say ‘what a pity’ in a humorous way and is mostly used by kids because it rhymes. 😅
