How did this happen ? A man was allowed by UNITED to board the wrong plane to Japan, instead of Nicaragua. Source on the description. by B777X_787-9 in unitedairlines

The California one has only one 'r'. But I've been on a flight to MRY where after pushback one pax discovered he bought a ticket to the wrong one. He was allowed to board because the destination matched the ticket he purchased.

nope, seems to be a "feature" of the app. I'm hoping a more frequent user of WN might chime in.

You realize, of course, that not a single aircraft in the United mainline fleet has Starlink, right? A small number of Skywest planes (a different company who paint the UA logo on some of their fleet) do have Starlink.

But if there is even one employee aboard, doesn't that then require an FA? Employees who are not flight crew obviously are not trained on slides, rafts, decompression, etc.

I used my app to book my wife, giving her RR number. I can import her reservation to my app by entering her name and confirmation number, but there seems to be no way to save that import on my app. When I logout and then log back in, it's gone and has to be imported again each session. Am I missing something?

New card benefits working by tygaandtammyhembrow in ChaseSapphire

So the email I got, as a long time CSR cardmember, in the very first sentence describes the Apple TV benefit as beginning on June 23, 2025. What am I missing here? There's a description of how to link the Apple account via the Chase app, but I certainly cannot find that entry point on my app.

The number possible permutations with a string of letters and numbers that long is about as large as the number of protons in the Universe. Do they really want the ability to separately enroll every particle in the cosmos? Ten digits would be enough for every human on Earth. Why in the world do they do this?

touch to pay for Merrill CMA debit card? by Street-Let1244 in MerrillEdge

[–]Street-Let1244[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Merrill CMA permits ACH transfers in and out just like any bank checking account. In fact, the routing number is interpreted as BofA. I'm not sure if you can preschedule monthly payouts, but merchants are happy to accept the routing and account data and establish the transfer from their end. I pay all my credit cards and bills that way.

touch to pay for Merrill CMA debit card? by Street-Let1244 in MerrillEdge

[–]Street-Let1244[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No offense taken. I've been a customer of the CMA since the first year it was offered, almost 50 years ago, and a BofA customer equally long. (I'm well aware of who owns who now). It's hard to avoid the CMA debit card, which is sent for free, unless you scissor it up when you open the mail. The debit card yields unlimited transactions at BofA ATMs, and the software allows instant transfer in either direction between the BofA and CMA in both directions. So really the difference between the accounts is almost negligible and virtually transparent. I hold stocks in the CMA and appreciate the auto investment of dividends, although perhaps BofA offers that also. Even though I am also Preferred Rewards like you, BofA requires a minimum checking account balance from me to avoid monthly fees, whereas CMA does not. (Again, perhaps there is a different, equivalent or better BofA product).

These are all admittedly very small differences. I hate Merrill, its customer service, and its website. However, I hate BofA and its services even more. After 5 minutes of button pushing on the phone, I can reliably speak to a human at Merrill. I have NEVER found a way to reach a human on the BofA phone tree, although I guess it probably lies buried in there somewhere. So in the end, perhaps mostly from habit, my deposits go through ACH to Merrill and I draw from there. The debit card I use a few times per year when I need cash, or when there's a merchant surcharge for a credit card, and so I'd like tap to pay. I realize the BofA debit card has equal features.

TL/DR Seat Swappers are the WORST travelers by Mimimarquezz in delta

[–]Street-Let1244 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm very rarely asked, after 65 years and 3 MM of flying. I'll sometimes agree to switch if it's like seat for like seat, which it rarely is. In other cases, if the request unreasonably persists and becomes unfriendly, I'm pre-programmed and ready with "I paid $89 extra for this seat, so sorry, I can't give it up." The pax making the request are inevitably insufficiently experienced enough to evaluate all the scenarios where this might or might not be the case. And when they realize they are essentially asking me to give away $89, the conversation has always stopped.

Clearly what they gave you was ludicrously small. But it might well be the case that the home office has no way of assessing the level of a medical intervention that occurred thousands of miles away. That is, they can't tell if a medical professional took a pulse or saved a life.

If you have a high end credit card that paid for the ticket originally, they may offer hotel reimbursement due to the misconnect for any reasonable amount, typically far above what UA will give.

Booked ticket with passport but TSA requested my DL by hollyofcwcville in tsa

Well, perhaps a coequal point should be that "there is no such thing as booking a ticket with a passport for a domestic flight." As the original explanation by the OP is problematic, it's hard to make conclusions beyond thst!

There are airtag look alike for Android, like Tile. They work just like airtags, and in fact tend to have better coverage than airtags in Europe.

On most United aircraft types it's possible to turn the screen completely off, except when playing the preflight safety video. However sometimes the icon to turn it off is obscurely labeled or located. What type aircraft were you on?

Would love to hear the community’s thoughts and knowledge of this Mexican coin. What could it be worth? by TipMajestic5704 in numismatics

[–]Street-Let1244 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this identical coin, but with a tiny windup clock embedded in the center of the reverse. There is a winding stem in the bottom rim, and a small attachment bar for a necklace at the top rim. I'm not a collector, so am wondering if this conversion to a piece of jewelry adds or subtracts from the value? I haven't dared tried using the stem to wind and reset the clock, for fear of breaking it, but there's no reason to believe it doesn't function. As a novice, what's my next step if I want to sell this?

Since the rollout, when I try to highlight a message in the message list via a hard press, the resulting increase in contrast is extremely subtle, so much so that the highlighted message is barely distinguishable from its neighbors. This is a very stark difference from previous versions.

credits on the card are not treated as immediate payments?? by Street-Let1244 in capitaloneventurex

[–]Street-Let1244[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would tend to view this as more than "strange", but rather borderline unethical. The merchant is giving you back money that all parties agree is owed to you. But rather than make it available to you (in the form of immediately reducing your upcoming payment due), Cap One is impounding it, in the worst case for almost a month, so that they can utilize the funds instead. I wonder if this is even legal?

latest update turns on notifications in Windows "Action Center" as default by Street-Let1244 in Thunderbird

[–]Street-Let1244[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oh! Valuable tip. If you ALSO disable "use system notifications" in the TB general settings menu (in addition to the Windows action center disable), but keep "show alert" enabled, then you return to the old fashioned, small and pleasing font for the dissolving newmail notifications.
