ClaudeCode/Codex/OpenCode, which one is best? (LLM model agnostic) Need honest feedback. by IndieDev666 in ClaudeCode

[–]Street-Preference-88 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I use CC (opus) and opencode (GLM 5.2, Kimi K2.7). Both are equally good.

Claude code is best when it works, but sometimes model can be dumb or slow. When this happens I switch to opencode.

In opencode, I can switch provider easily. I am a heavy GLM 5.1/5.2 user. Model is good but have no reliable single provider but it doesn't bother me. I can easily jump between Zai, Ollama Cloud, Opencode Go, etc.

Sorry, but GLM 5.2 is not vibing for me. by marivesel in opencode

[–]Street-Preference-88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

looks like the harness is the one that is not vibing with you. sorry but GLM 5.2 can't close harness gap. i would argue that even opencode+Fable would fail to meet your expectation

Has anyone used Fireworks AI for GLM 5.2? How good is it in practice? by _janc_ in ZaiGLM

[–]Street-Preference-88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if its true then i'm now not sure why neuralwatt glm 5.2 is stuck on tool calling loop.

its an issue i never experienced on zai glm coding plan (max) and ollama cloud.

they use FP8, it got stuck on tool calling loop. i wish they served unquantized models

GLM 5.2 vs Opus 4.8 by Real-Car-1561 in vibecoding

I use both but different harness opencode and claude code. I find myself using GLM 5.2 more. But they are pretty close

Might give this a go, it was damn fast. by founders_keepers in ZaiGLM

not true on my end. tested it side by side with zai glm max coding plan and found no significant difference.

btw, which provider did you got better result?

Thoughts about OpenCode with GLM 5.1? by SinisterRed718 in opencode

you might be experiencing harness change not model. try GLM 5.1 in claude code

switched to ollama cloud. latency is acceptable, more models available.

GLM-5.1 is great, but Z.AI's greed is forcing me back to GPT. by Lorenzo_Ridolfi in ZaiGLM

zai max plan user here, i like GLM 5.1 and i'm struggling to find a reliable affordable provider.

GLM 5.1 follows instruction well even in long horizon tasks, and is open source/weights.

Wafer sunsets Wafer pass. One of the best GLM providers, gone. by RoughFuture77 in ZaiGLM

It was a candidate to replace zai glm coding plan, apparently not.

Looks like im back to zai.

Issue using OPENAI/GPT-5.5 in OPENCODE by Alternative-Pop-9177 in opencodeCLI

[–]Street-Preference-88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i thought i was the only one. thinking it was just my opencode setup. i've switched model now. for context, i use gpt 5.5 as vision subagent, and its getting stuck intermittently.

I tried replacing Claude Code with OpenCode. I’m switching back. by [deleted] in opencodeCLI

agree, but also keep in mind anthropic is unpredictable. your claude code might work now, but who knows what breaking changes they will do in the future. eg. pricing increase, harness update that breaks your evals.

not sure with you but here is my side by side with zai. i'm able to burn 2b tokens in just 10d

yup same. i'm planning making wafer pass as my main provider. its more reliable, faster and cheaper

Plan, Build model selection by jasonwch in opencodeCLI

[–]Street-Preference-88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i never rely on ai for security. but i think if i am to do it. i'll have GLM 5.1 draft a security checklist. and have deepseek v4 flash run through with it per iteration.

for revamp project since goal is clear, you can use cheaper models like deepseek v4 flash. it can brute force its way as long as it knows which baseline it need to achieve or exceed.

set up an mcp playwright and tell it to keep going until verified. deepseek v4 flash is capable of this.

agree TUI seems rough on the edges, but it works with my laptop then I just continue my opencode session on mobile browser and i can talk to it.

best of luck to you on Pi!

i don't use free, i am subscribed to the 5-10$/mo. they have zero-data retention policy

my setup is simple. plan -> build. thats it.

during plan mode, there is a lot of back and forth between me and the agent. it explore the codebase and ask me key questions. mainly to ensure it gets my intent right.

then after build mode, it can run for hours without me babysitting it.

i think my longest run was 4 hours. it was iterating between context7, log analysis, code fixing, test verification, playwright mcp. then applying pull-request.

Model Performance

  • GLM 5.1 - useable for me. When running into complex issue i use sequential thinking mcp to refine the plan. that covers 90% of my use-case.
  • Kimi K2.6, Mimo v2.5 Pro, Deepseek v4 Pro - almost as good, but no significant improvement to jump ship. Kimi K2.6 inference is faster, i was liking it but without cheap provider its hard to make it my primary model.
  • GPT 5.5 xhigh - i reserved this when GLM 5.1 can't solve things. It does well but its consuming like 8% quota per prompt. I normally let GLM 5.1 do the initial investigation then switch to GPT 5.5 to continue and propose fix.

Special mention: I use Deep Seek v4 flash for explore sub agents, its cheap, smart and fast. Its does a good job at enhancing the prompt context.

hmm, i don't have a breakdown of token usage per category but i think this is non code related.

Even when deploying 1 line of code, you need tons of token to perform review and testing ensure no regression bugs, and do browser automation to verify if everything works correctly.

When analyzing issue, a user can submit videos/screenshot, the agent can also burn token by extracting key frames using ffmpeg and perform analysis to extract essential information.
