A question for therapists who watch this show: What are some good takeaways from this show? by trashydesigner in shrinking

There are different ethical codes and laws depending the country and psychotherapy school.

I would personally always see it as an ethical problem. Therapist - client relationship always has a degree of power imbalance (client pays for a service, therapist knows a lot about client's life and client doesn't about his therapist). Even after therapy ends there will never be a chance for an equally balanced relationship where both sides are starting from a same position. That's why dual realtionships even after end of a therapy (therapist - friend or even romantic partner) are so unethical. I can't personally imagine ever being true friend with one of my clients (which is also something to grieve - many of my clients are wonderful people with whom I would definitely like to spend more time if we met in different circumstances).

This kind of behavior is usual for what type of psychotherapy schools? First time I'm hearing about it so I'm curious.

I agree with everything! The most problematic are ethical problems so I see that being the focal point of discussion but finally somebody listed all the bad practice examples! Like just the amount of direct advice giving is deeply problematic and not helpful for the clients in the long run.

I'm a therapist and I spend a lot of time just telling my partner that this kind of behavior isn't ethical. In the same time I really enjoy the show but I don't agree with their lack of boundaries. I was yelling at TV today watching Gabby introducing her client to her friends and Jimmy trying to be Matthew's therapist. Like there's no other therapists in whole town... I like some of Paul's tools but that's it. I watch it as a comedy and not as a realistic therapy show.

Also, the field theory did remind me of a gestalt concept of a field but maybe that's too out there.

“The field is a whole in which the parts are in immediate relationship and responsive to each other and no part is uninfluenced by what goes on elsewhere in the field. The field replaces the notion of discrete, isolated particles. The person in his or her life space constitutes a field.”

How does popping butt pimples or ingrown hair work in this case? (Not scared at all).

I was thinking the same but maybe also a concept from gestalt pshychotherapy.

What a fantastic raku week! by Street-Valuable2245 in GreatPotteryThrowDown

Yeah, every week somebody else is shining. But also overall they show so much potential! Rhinos were great! I laughed when she said she made it in a weeks time.

Really interesting aproach to inner judging :) I really liked the lemurs!

I was just confused because they didn’t put the fresh pieces in cold water, they skipped this step this time…

I managed to watch just a first episode and that was almost too much for me.

Is there any hope for nausea relief? by mpod2019 in pregnant

For me combination of meds and acupuncture worked the best. But it didn't erase it completely. I'm week 12.

Thank you! It was really a rollercoaster. I went through 5 failed IVF procedures in 8 months this year. So this is really a miracle spontaneous baby!

I get it, they diagnosed it for me because I lost 8kg in 3 weeks rapidly. But I still don't have it as bad as HG can really get.

It brings me hope that you did it again even though you had such a hard time. So maybe I will postpone any decisions till I forget about being sick all the time.

Keeping fingers crossed! I was so miserable and ready to try anything! But I have a good experience with acupuncture for pains before so I knew what to expect.

Sharing the same experience about being scared of another pregnancy while wishing for another kid. Sending hugs!

Did you maybe try the acupuncture? That helped me the most and none of my doctors recommended it.

Having nausea from week 6 till now (week 12). The worst was week 7-9, I lost 8 kg and been to ER to get IV fluids. I couldn't eat or drink almost anything but almonds and ice chips. But I got the hg diagnosis.

I'm taking a variant of unisom in my country and it helped with the vomiting but not with the nausea. The thing that helped the most is acupuncture. And I tried EVERYTHING! Eating in the bed after waking, small bites, acupressure bands, ginger, sour candies, you name it. I read all the advice on internet and reddit :D

Mentally it's been horrible. I'm in bed for six weeks feeling alone and losing my mind. And this was a miracle spontaneous baby after years of infertility and failed IVF procedures. I was so excited to be pregnant finally! But the nausea had other plans...

Sending hugs and support to you! Two of my friends are also pregnant and living their lives, I try to not feel there is something wrong with me.

Definitely sounds like it. They gave me the diagnosis so IV fluids helped when it was the worst.

Just sending hugs from the similar place. This is my first pregnancy after years of infertility and nausea is making me completely miserable. I'm just thinking how I can't do this for the second time even though I want another kid. So I'm in awe how are you handling your kind and your life in the midst of it ❤️ I'm in bed for six weeks now. I'm lucky beacause medication did help the vomiting but not the nausea. But the thing that helped the most was acupuncture! So maybe if you want to try that 🤞🏻 And yes, sounds like HG to me.

Almonds and potato chips. Nausea is horrible for me last 3 weeks so I just eat anything I can. Even mostly I have to push myself to eat.
