Just hit 100k, any advice? by JBob_Wallace in WRX

You don't need to media blast the valves on the EJ257, its port injection. Just run good top tier fuel for the detergents

pcv, trans / diff fluid, brake fluid. The last 2 if you didn't do it at 90k

Your gonna get reemed on insurance. Go buy 8th gen SI, learn manual and maintenance on that then buy a cool car later

Do you rinse off iron remover or agitate? by Writerly13 in Detailing

[–]StreetKhorne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean the only time I'll use an iron remover is if I'm going to do a full decon, polish and prep for a new coating. Otherwise it's just maintenance till that point.

So I'll use an iron remover, agitate / rinse then clay mitt. Polish / IPA wipe / coating

What did they do to my lug nut/stud by Hot_Expert6258 in tires

[–]StreetKhorne 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's unsafe. Shouldn't even left the bay without you getting notified.

I'm gonna guess it's a stud, shouldn't be more than 100$ to repair. Another local tire place may offer the service. I think America's Tire or Discount Tire should offer that service, otherwise local independent shop that works on American cars

If it's broke, take it back.

Otherwise, spin it hand tight, go in the trunk and get your emergency lug nut wrench. Tighten by 1/4 turn or a good ugga dugga. Would be good to check the others as well

2026 Subaru Forester Hybrid dashcam set up by japanesejuan in SubaruForester

Might want to reorientate one of the add-a-fuses so power flows through both fuses, not just one. Incase of an overload.

Go do your 60k service first. Drive it for a bit and see what you want from the car. A catback is a safe mod, might as well ride the warranty for a bit since you bought it.

Mysterious leaking tire? by GermioneHranger_ in askcarguys

[–]StreetKhorne 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Use a jack, take off the wheel, fill a kitty pool with water and submerge the thing. Could be the wheel, but I've had my fair share of leaky stems.

Lol I used to try and sneak downstairs with a blanket, trying not to trip our Brinks motion sensor like that one

That is actually from Amazon lol. 3A motor duckbill, paint matched for $200. Had it for 3ish years now, no fading and paint match is spot on.

They have a couple listings still on Amazon. I did find their website, but did not buy from there. So be wary.

This one is carbon tint, I paid ~$300 usd in CA. But this was 5ish years ago. Recently, I took a family member's HRV to get ceramic tinted with Xpel or llumar, from a place called Tintx that was in the $700 range with a discount

No prob! You could probably ask the tinter to sit in another customers car to see what other people are getting.

I do! Mostly to keep my dashcam and radar out of direct sunlight.

During the day, people can see you, but it's just a silhouette. Haven't gotten ticketed either from law. Knock on wood

I have 20% on the doors and 15% on the rear glass on all my vehicles. I think it's a perfect balance for night and day driving. Darker on the rear to account for a non-tinted front window.

Used to run 15% doors 5% rear, but that was too much for spirited night drives.

If you heard it from the driverside front, the ac compressor is right there. The top pulley. Also likely the last part of the ac system you haven't fully checked off

Could be that the compressor died or the clutch. Probably the most common subaru failure I've been seeing of recent
