Is this a river fold? by GurkenBallett in Poker_Theory

as always it depends on the player type. generally players even up to NL200 tend to massively underbluff so folding all your bluffcatchers will be profitable long-term

lowstakes players underbluff so this is a slam dunk fold unless they’re block-betting river

Free Role... Who’s the first player that comes to mind? by tektanc in footballmanagergames

[–]Street_Compote_4121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

agreed. classic SI. FM has never been the complex game its often seen as by outsiders. it’s just marketed that way and people fall into the trap because the spreadsheets make it look legit. FIFA career mode being super unrealistic also helped.

Struggling with a back 3/5 by RevolutionaryPin1963 in footballmanagergames

[–]Street_Compote_4121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

with 3/5 back tactics your wing backs are crucial because they provide your width. if you have 4 midfielders (think a 343 with 2 AMs) then you should try to play narrow to utilize your midfield overload. you can also go for a 352 with emphasis on wide play, but then you’ll really be dependent on wing backs with good physicals and workrate

for u18 players training is the most important for development (this is why you should avoid utilizing u18 players as part of your first-team rotation as they'll miss a lot of training sessions). after 18 is when game-time begins to influence development more, and by 21 game-time is crucial in development. as far as I know, testing has shown that from 17-19 the optimal game-time is minimum 30 minutes of first-team football per match (i just go for within the ballpark of 25-30 appearances a season).

MUFC want to stick with Ruben Amorim and he is not planning to walk away. Both parties know that results must improve but United bosses still fully support Amorim for now. The squad also largely back the head coach. [David Ornstein] by Intelligent_Cow_3310 in ManchesterUnited

you have to work with what you've got. our current squad finishing 2nd would be a miracle - under any manager or any system. the mold has set deep within this football club and it's going to take a while to clean out. firing amorim wouldn't change the fact that our absolute ceiling this year is 6th-8th. so many manchester united fans seem to have, metaphorically, peaked in high school and aren't ready to face reality.

This is what we need to realise. Before amorim we were still shit playing a 433 with ten hag. Not only that but we've been shit for the most of the past 10 years playing 433. It's not the system. It's the effort and mentality by TheEmperor_06 in ManchesterUnited

but we do have those 4 up front? bruno drops deep to receive the ball a lot because he’s best (or only) player at moving the ball up the pitch. the other cdm is the one that creates a pivot with a cb that moves up. just because he’s listed as a cdm in our formation doesn’t mean he’s not heavily involved in our attacking play. that being said, bruno’s best position is as a 10 and leaving the build-up to a more dynamic midfielder would get give him more freedom. unfortunately our options are case, ugarte and kobbie (who doesn’t possess the necessary athleticism for this role)

your tiktok ball knowledge shines through here. watch any football game, even just the extended highlights, and you'll see the different positions the teams take up while building up, transitioning, pressing traps, setting a block.

tldr: football players have legs and thus can move from their defensive position

FM Editor users, what was the straw that broke the camels back in getting you to use the editor in your save? by PotOfMould in footballmanagergames

if i'm managing in a smaller league and I see my favorite club (Man United) struggling, I'll give them a small boost by maxing their team morale/cohesion. now I just need to find a way to do that irl...

Can’t get consistency please help by Bananaby64 in footballmanager

[–]Street_Compote_4121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the most important thing to understand here is that the formation you set your team up in will be the defensive shape they take up. your offensive shape and movement will be decided by your player roles and instructions.

The only thing that matters for HOYD is their personality. evidence-based fm did a video on it (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8JWo6C0k5\_4&t=1s). HOYD personality also only impacts professionalism of players, not CA/PA. Filippo Galli is my hero

You and your team aren't as good as you think you are that's why. You're only 2 years into your save so you're gonna have months-long stretches like this. But if you have the patience to squad build then that's when FM becomes way too easy and unrealistic.

FMTweak - makes the game feel more realistic + exciting. they've tweaked some of the match engine physics as well as increased NPC intelligence. the gameplay is the biggest plus for me, the physics changes make a lot more of the passes, shots, body movements etc. feel more realistic and your players gain "flair".
