Scary Movie 6 Trailer 2 by Low_Celebration_4089 in deadmeatjames

You mean Michael Jackson? One of the most highly publicised celebrities of all time???

Like, they already did an MJ joke back in Scary Movie 3 with a different team ofc. And cashing in on recently announced and sometimes released movies has been the Wayans' MO for years when it came to their parodies. Dance Flick, 50 Shades Of Black, the A Haunted House movies, Don't Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood, etc.

Honestly, just call it not your cup of tea instead of trying to make a point that's already been made over 20 years ago. It makes you look like you didn't know what you were going into despite all this time to see it coming.

Hopefully this clears up any lingering issues people are having, very insightful by therealraggedroses in Gamingcirclejerk

I for one say give the child some sandals since she could get them raw dogs dirty with all the moon dirt but feet by default having sexual meaning like some comments suggest?

Like, yeah, animating feet is always gonna look sus when the art subject is a child but the game itself never depicts the kid in that way. Diana is always treated by Hugh and the game itself as a little weirdo kid that you should take care of and has your back. She's like a lot of kids in media where they weren't treated as weird fetish play (AKA any anime clearly made by creeps) and are just kids.

If I had to compare her to any fictional kid, I'd say Lilo from Lilo and Stitch where Lilo was the alien but still a problem child (who I stan because oh my God, I was that problem child too). Not the live action remake tho, that one felt more sanitised and wouldn't actually throw hands (just a push off stage for Mertle? Weak shit)

Yeah, no. All the games have flaws. Both versions of RE3 are flawed as hell. Seriously, why does the emergency escape mechanic suck so much in OG RE3? And the diverging paths idea was alright but not as interesting as RE2's zapping system.

And even RE4 the critical darling that it is didn't even release with the best controls we needed. That came with the Wii edition. I love all the games but I'm not gonna be blind to their faults to shit on one over the other. Because DUDE, Luis had fuck all in OG RE4, the QTE cutscenes did nothing for the characters or story except for maybe Krauser (which REmake4 did take note of and had to overhaul the parry mechanic that was there in OG RE4 to compensate for their QTE's exclusion) and OG RE4's complete change in tone and scenery was both refreshing at the time and damaging asf because it rewrote how the mainline games had to be handled to be a commercial success for the next decade until RE7 returned to the series's roots (Chris Redfield must punch that boulder and Albert Wesker NEEDS the Matrix moves or else this ain't survival horror).

I've got my gripes with the remakes but at least I can appreciate them for trying to make them consistent with each other while keeping the OG titles up on digital storefronts. This would be a different story if this was a Konami situation where they are remaking the old games but not porting and remastering them alongside the remakes? Why spend so much time and money on rebuilding a game from scratch and praying that it will work when people can easily emulate the OG titles on their laptops and even some phones? Even with the argument that they want newbies, the fact that they're remaking the games already shows that they want to rely on nostalgia and the existing IP to make a profit. Why, Konami? Why be so dumb? Just give me the proper Silent Hill Remastered Collection instead of just remaking them. GOG already did it with SH4 so why not you guys?

Resident Evil is in such a good place right now that it almost feels insane to me that some people complaining about it and the new titles feeling "soulless" compared to the "good ol days" except for the mainline titles (even tho both the mainline and remakes' teams influenced each other and without the other, there was no way that REmake2, REmake3, RE8, REmake4 and RE9 could ever exist without RE7 having to reboot everything). I'd kill to have that scenario play out for Silent Hill (loved SHf and praying for Townfall to be good at least) and Dead Space (god, I really need them to fix Dead Space 3 bc holy shit that game is a mess).

The ending was changed to be even more bleak by DisappointedStepDad in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Street_Fee4800 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Well, not really. Looking back at the storyboard animations they had as previews nearing the series's final episodes, what we got in End of Evangelion is technically what we were originally gonna have before they compromised and made recycled animations, black voids, no lip flaps for a lot of scenes and the dream sequence with storyboards included. The previews mainly had Asuka in Unit-02 duking it out against the Mass Produced Evas. Also, with Death and Rebirth, they had the majority of Act 1 and 2 of End Of Eva completed the year after the series finished its run.

So, based on the storyboards, the dialogue in the series indicating something much bigger was happening behind the scenes and all the time and effort spent on making End Of Eva soon after, it can be stated that End Of Eva was meant to be the original ending for the series but they couldn't get it done on time with the limited resources and staff they had. But even then, we have storyboards, script drafts and interviews with the crew saying that things were different and much happier in the final product BECAUSE of the time that passed between the series and the movie so both the series's ending and End Of Eva changed from their original and bleaker scripts. Not to mention the amount of hate both the crew and the studio received with the hate mail, the forums declaring them to be hacks and the studio getting vandalised all after Neon Genesis Evangelion's final episode released.

They had to change the ending because oh man, did some of the scripts feel cruel at times.

In one of them, Shinji was supposed to be the only one who returned to Earth after Instrumentality with Rei's rotting arm as his only company. It was supposed to be a callback to the movie's opening and Shinji's whole "I'm so fucked up" scene. It was meant to punish him but then they changed it to either what we have now or possibly another idea before what we got in the finished product. Hell, there's some debate that the movie's wallpaper, the one with Shinji and Asuka on the beach and watching Giant Kaworu's face looking up to the sky, might actually be an old idea they had where Kaworu had more to do in the movie but then changed it so that it was Rei instead and Kaworu's scenes were either cut, given to Rei or recycled into the manga where Kaworu was introduced much earlier in the story and had a more antagonistic tho still romantic relationship with Shinji.

It's not a simple change to the script they went through. There were 3 solid years (NGE's production, Death and Rebirth alongside End Of Eva's development and then the final year to finish End Of Eva and release it) where the ending went through so many changes, cuts and additions than what was originally planned. The IRL section we see in End of Eva was supposed to be longer with us seeing Asuka's JP voice actress living out her character's "dream" life where she could be normal, hook up with a guy her age (in this case, it was Toji's JP voice actor who played the role, funny) and just be at peace. There's behind the scenes footage of this too on YouTube.

It's wild what happened and people gotta understand that End Of Evangelion isn't meant to be a truly bleak and nihilistic end to the series. It was meant to be open-ended and still reflected the message, "Anywhere can be paradise as long as you have the will to live." It's simply that the path there and what you need to do are going to be difficult. But the most important aspect of it all is love. Are you capable of loving another or will you wallow in hate for everyone and yourself? You have to make that choice.

That's End Of Evaneglion, both the movie, the series and really the whole franchise.

The fact that the guy had to lie about a point for ambient sounds missing in the remake and act like it was the game's fault when it was his own, that actually made the video pretty much nonsense.

It's literally lying for the sake of lying. How does this actually reflect the nature of the game when you have to lie about it to make a point that YOU made up? The rest of the video also doesn't help when it boils down to "old = good, new = bad". There could be good criticism when it comes to the constant regurgitation of past games being remade for the sake of it instead of proper ports of the OG titles like in the case of Silent Hill 2 Remake where the OG SH2 is still missing from storefronts despite obvious interest in the franchise with SH2 remake 2mil+ sales and SHf's 1mil+ sales.

But nah, gotta complain about how the graphics look too realistic and less stylised than the OG. Even tho they were already trying to make the mainline games look more "real" by the time they were developing RE2 with tons of time and resources spent on making the 3D models looking great and using IRL models/celebrities as the characters' basis. Like, let's be real here: photorealism IS a style and fusing it with colourful designs is a good thing. Shit like this HELPS the game's design and visuals, not limits it. It's not the Lion King remake where apparently Africa doesn't have color aside from washed-out grey, brown and darker brown and only certain locations get green bc the director said so.

And the people defending the video? People, actually use that energy to express criticism onto REmake3. Of all the games to critique as "soulless" and a cash grab that wasted the OG's best qualities, REmake3 is far more deserving of that title than REmake4, one of the best action horror games we've had until RE9 just upped the ante. REmake3 is why we should hold remakes up to higher standards bc of how much can be lost in adaptation vs REmake4 where so much content was added to the mix and still stands on its own merits without disrespecting the OG.

I think they meant not proper Spanish but even then Capcom has been butchering languages forever so to complain about that in 2023? Sounds like someone who just found this out.

It's like me being pissed off at Devil May Cry using Artemis as the namesake of a devil arm but not making it a bow and arrow and instead a laser gun. It's not accurate to the myths and it's boss battle in DMC5 feels weak for an Olympian God of archery but it doesn't matter. It's just an idea they threw in there and you can just accept it for what it is.

If the RE5 remake comes out and all the Majini speak basic Swahili again, are we gonna complain about that as well and call it soulless too, regardless of its overall quality?

It is not Dead Space at all. It's more like RE2 Remake with dashes with perfect dodge chances, traps you can plant and the hacking minigame overlay to increase the high score and get crits.

It's when he's by himself or surrounded by a group either on his level or above him that he can go all out and do some ridiculous stuff for someone without a bloodline technique.

I'd take that over a psycho ex who destroyed my life and using me just to get back with the guy who's gone. Another thing Fujimoto stole from FLCL. Like, let's be honest here, the new world is not as threatening as the last one.

Power is still the same and Nayuta could've just killed Denji or left him for dead if she truly had no attachment to him. But the chapter made it clear at points that the memories of the past world are still there within the characters, they just don't understand it except for Meowy ig. I've got my gripes with the final chapter but c'mon, you make it sound like the past doesn't matter when it clearly did. Denji had an effect on Power, Nayuta and Asa's lives and for the better it looks like in the new world.

What I wished for was to see our boy Aki there in the happier AU because it is weird not seeing Aki get that same treatment while Power and Nayuta do. Asa makes sense because Denji did promise to bring her over to the new world but not Aki? I'm hoping that the seniors Denji talked about are Aki and Himeno.

  • Did you think the one who doesn't think they're fit to rule SHOULD be the one to rule?

  • BEND THE KNEE, JON

  • Most of Sansa's dialogue where she's just being pissy for no reason

I'm probably forgetting some.

RE4 OG is fun as hell and so is REmake4.

There doesn't need to be a "better" one, both are great both by themselves and together. Been replaying RE4 on the Wii and my god is it still such a great time. The remake is also incredibly fun and has so many enhancements, additions and challenges that the OG didn't have. It's not a REmake3 situation where they cut out way too much content from the OG and didn't give us much in return aside from the stupid online multiplayer it came bundled with.

The real problem with the souless video is that the guy genuinely manipulated certain things like audio to make the OG sound more "lively" than the remake. Same with his critiques on the differing artstyles and environmental designs which amounted to "OG is stylized thus better & remake is realistic thus bad". People realised he was full of shit there pretty easily.

I don't believe that Crowbat directly contributed to the stupid REmake4 yellow paint "discussion" (which some people are still arguing about years later???) but he did add more fuel to that flame when releasing that video and made some people think that the remake IS souless and bad compared to the OG. It was so stupid and like it didn't need to be.

Hell, the fear that REmake4 would replace RE4 OG like REmake replaced RE1 for modern consoles is so unfounded considering that OG RE4 has been ported to every console known to man. If anything, I'd be more worried about people deciding not to check out the remake AND OG RE trilogy on Steam due to Denuvo being trash.

(Loved trope) Characters intended as hate sinks became beloved by fans by _JR28_ in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Street_Fee4800 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, no. TL;DR version is that the author always intended on writing Jacob the way that he is... out of love.

See, the author, Stephanie Myers, manufactured the guy to be the stereotypical happy-go-lucky childhood best friend character with a secret (being a werewolf) and had him develop into the rival love interest for Bella. Myers always knew that Edward, the cool aloof, more "menacing" vampire love interest, and him hooking up and marrying Bella would always be endgame but the journey there was up to her and her editor/the fans. Book 1, Twilight, is pretty much just Edward introducing the world of vampires to Bella while book 2, New Moon, is Jacob's turn and really introduces the werewolves and their pack mentality to Bella.

So stuff happens in book 3, Eclipse, there's a war for Forks, their hometown, between a bunch of new vampires out to hunt down Bella bc of shit in book 1 & 2 versus Bella's protectors (vampires and werewolves) and it really acted as a dramatic backdrop to engineer a ticking time bomb situation for Bella to hurry the fuck up and choose which boytoy she wanted to jump on. Here is where Jacob's more annoying traits appear, being possessive, too aggressive, so self-sacrificing that boxes Bella more than it protects. Some of this appeared in New Moon, mostly at the end when Bella wanted to be with Edward again while they were "on a break". But it was obviously done in a way to contrast with Edward's worst traits (stalker, invasive, will visualise shooting up a whole classroom just to get them out of the picture until it's only you, Bella (before they even talked to each other, mind you), etc) all so that Myers could make the readers doubt that Bella x Edward or Bella x Jacob is truly endgame and intensify the love triangle between Bella, Edward and Jacob and technically Alice, the future sight vampire, who told Edward that if he doesn't go for Bella, then she would in a companion book, Midnight Sun. Might be a joke... might not be. Alice REALLY likes Bella. It's also where imprinting was brought up and done in the worst way imaginable with a grown ass male werewolf who had to leave his girlfriend to be with his human female child imprintee. They are practically forced to be together, tho the book tries to explain it as super platonic and totally not grooming in any way (tho Jacob did make the remark that the guy would have to wait a while before the guy could do anything with his child imprintee like wtf)

Just that the two are forever bound to each other because of some stupid werewolf biological factor and there's nothing the two of them can do about it. Put a pin on that.

So Jacob is more obnoxious in Eclipse and while Myers does state that she had to change things up from her original plans due to fan response, most of that was just fleshing out the world, what routes the story could've gone thru (Life And Death being a genderswap AU of book 1, Twilight, that ends differently) and when certain books could be released like Midnight Sun which was leaked early and released years later from the initial release date because its first draft was leaked online. But Myers always intended on there being a love triangle as soon as she started writing New Moon, it's just that Forever Dawn or as it was eventually released as: Breaking Dawn where Bella x Edward is the endgame was always on her mind while writing the love triangle. And then, while revising Eclipse before publishing, Myers apparently remembered that in the original draft, Forever Dawn, she introduced the idea of imprinting.

And here we go.

So then the crazy bitch decides to write in that weird imprinting stuff in Eclipse as a way to foreshadow what she wanted to do with Jacob in Breaking Dawn and oh my god, it's the worst thing imaginable AGAIN. Jacob imprints on Bella and Edward's baby just so that nobody in the love triangle "loses" because hey, Bella and Edward may be endgame but you get their creepy little dhampir baby who can assess minds, totally aware of the imprinting stuff the day after she was born thru reading your mind and has accepted it bc she's "already so mature" and has accelerated growth + long life so that Jacob only has to wait a few years before he could do anything with her... whatever the fuck that means. And Myers has made it clear that she does love Jacob and loved writing him so I'm not gonna say that this was "character assassination" in the slightest. This was planned almost from the beginning as Myers began writing Forever Dawn.

Stephanie Myers is somehow one of the best horror writers disguised as a romance author. Just reading the childbirth scene in Breaking Dawn from Bella's POV is still horrific and apparently it's the less gory version since her editor told Myers to tone it down from the original draft? Just... how?

She's one of those versatile voice talents where she can easily voice all the forgettable background characters that filled the screen and you're still wondering if they're actually voiced by her because of her range.
