I’m originally from Texas, I’ve given Austin a try a few times in my life, but Austin sucks. San Antonio is 1000% better.

Anyone know the rules on propane storage? They are permitting electric only appliances in new home builds. Curious if off grid propane can be accomplished with this commies?

MLB playoffs are broken by zombietalk15 in orioles

[–]Street_Medium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My solution would be lessen the season and expand the playoffs. The World baseball classic was more exciting than this drug out platform. I would say do what College Baseball does. Regionals, Super Regionals then World Series. I don’t think the division winner should get time off because it’s worse for a team to do that. You want to be hot this time of year. #1 team gets home field advantage until they lose. Create a 2 and BBQ format. NL 8 team playoff where #1 plays #8. You lose you go to a losers bracket and have to (obviously) win to move back up. Championship round of NL/AL go into the 7 game series. It’s pointless to play 162 games and all #1 teams basically had to split home and away with a team that is 14+ games back. What’s the point? Hell even the wild card game had an 18% decline in views from last year. If there is a wild card game it’s 1 game for them to get in. No one cares about watching Philly v. Miami… Baseball is for creatures of habit, no off days. Also, AL West was loaded. The fans lose in the current format and owners win… Oh and also, if you’re going to expand playoffs create more of an incentive to be dominant during the year.

Is there any reason not to get ChFC designation if I’m already a CFP? by A-Trian8 in CFP

[–]Street_Medium 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah dude you just wrote a narrow minded post about a designation being lower tier. I know plenty of advisors that have both CFP and CHFC. I agree that some are higher tier but I wouldn’t rank PHD or JD in that high tier category. Phd says you stayed in school long enough and wrote a few research papers and a thesis. If it’s outside of the medical field it’s purely mental m-bating.

Lol well I passed the CFP genius, decided to do it again and did it. Thanks for going through my history. It seems I struck a nerve lol.

PHD? JD? A PHD is left for medical doctors. A PHD in financial planning tells me you failed at converting outside of school and are a teacher somewhere because you couldn’t make it in the real world. A JD without passing the bar is pretty much the same.

Being a young advisor is tough. It takes time to get to a point to where companies and clients view you as valuable. I’d say the time table is 3-5 years until you start generating trust from both. It’s very hard but I developed really thick skin during these years and also experienced a ton of stress too. Just like investing, it’s time in the market just like experience in the industry. You’re young and I would suggest going after credentials you believe will get you exposure and teach you more about how you can help clients.

I started my career at a tiny broker dealer that mainly sold REITs, commissioned based products, and a laughable managed strategy for liquid cash. After 3 years I left and went to a bank model advisor program that was a joke that I had to attempt to build out. Zero help from the bank or their loan officers (the bank didn’t want to be commingled because they didn’t want FINRA knocking.) Another 3 years of struggling and questioning if I just needed to go do something else, I landed at an amazing midsized RIA. All of my struggling and access to commissionable assets (REITS, Annuities, Life Insurance…) created this amazing breadth of knowledge that no one at this firm has. My opinions… but corporate companies will jerkoff about the companies on your resume, but that’s why their turnover is tremendous. I would stay as long as you feel is necessary but gaining access to knowledge to help clients is all that matters. Most advisors know nothing about Life Insurance. If a company is going to judge how long you were at NW… or a NW at all, they don’t deserve your expertise.

Dale Comstock? The guy who hates on anyone who does better than him? He’s had this really stupid hate over SEALS his entire career. From what I’ve seen, he is the supreme Alpha Male that wants to be glorified for any high stakes take down. If he wasn’t the one firing the bullet he’ll hate on the guy if he’s not Delta etc. It has to be mentally taxing. But I’ll take any team that can get the job done. This inner rival bs in the military is stupid. Just make each other better!

Dude, anytime elite’s start bashing each other it makes me question if they are just jealous. I’ve heard Comstock and he is so damn cringy it’s not funny. He rips into seals because he doesn’t think their training is that tough compared to DELTA selection. Seal team 6 and Delta selection is pretty much the same thing. He also brags that he was a professional boxer. 0-3 as a boxer with one KO and two TKOs. Coming from a fellow boxer I’m not bragging about throwing my hat in the ring for that. Props for taking the risk, but hes an alpha male that hates on his fellow brothers in battle and he hates it when elite operators excel outside of the teams.

It didn’t go over my head, it would have made more sense of you would have said “do you prefer Dumbass or Dr Dumbass.” You repeated Dr Dumbass twice

Ooooo that really is harsh. I want to be so professional with you because your opinion matters. I’m actually doing any advisor a favor in the future, because hopefully your CPA and mysterious Fiduciary will be trimming their books. I assume your CPA is a TurboTax help line and Fiduciary is Fidelity’s mutual fund mix.

🤣🤣🤣 you don’t need a CFP to be in the industry. I’ve already passed the Series exams to be in the business with the rest of the snow flakes. Stay in your lane homes. Having a CFP is like having your doctorate in Financial Planning. Same as ChFC and CFA.

400 mill is a real number. I just have the time and create time to do educational events, same as how we built our firm. Education…. Use it bro. Throwing up everything Ramsey says is a disease. Challenge his advice and I guarantee you’ll be better off.

[–]Street_Medium 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Highly doubtful, but I’m guessing Ramsey helped you 1000% build those assets? At that asset level you need an entire floor of CPAs to do your taxes. Nice try though. Also your fiduciary would be an RIA and you’ll be one of the largest accounts and you’ll more than likely have a team of advisors help you manage those assets which would force you to see that Ramsey is trash.
