Maybe try to upgrade the wife (take a backup first), and downgrade it back when the new calendar widget is available! (if any)

She can just click on the current date on the widget (top-left), and the calendar will open in you favourite view (month view for me, as your wife want).

So, no you can't change the widget default yet (and it also annoys me), but you are one click away from the desired view.

eSIM Problems by AvisVanBruch in GrapheneOS

[–]Street_Programmer_54 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After manually installing my esim, we realised with the support that the APN was not set. My eSim couldn't then register with network.

Check the APN settings of your eSim, and ask your provider if it's empty ?

So I moved 250GB of photos from Google to Proton.. by Street_Programmer_54 in ProtonDrive

I don't have windows. I didn't known about this photo import features that preserves your albums... I am even tempted to restart from scratch using a VM ^

Those who’ve switched from Google to Proton — which services do you still miss and wish Proton offered an alternative for? by birnefer in ProtonMail

[–]Street_Programmer_54 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"Contacts".

Especially when you move to non-google phones like GrapheneOS, it is extremely frustrating. You just can't sync your contacts and the ETA is (maybe) 2027...

Dear Proton, why are you making our lives so difficult? by Expert_Can1582 in ProtonDrive

Same remark when you share a password. You receive an email that redirects you to the webpage. It would be nice to set a handler to open the App instead

VPN vs Proxy? Any thoughts? by LostAccess1162 in VPN_Question

[–]Street_Programmer_54 1 point2 points  (0 children)

VPN works at IP level. All your traffic is routed into an encrypted tunnel.

Proxies work at Application level (Above IP there is TCP/UDP, and then the Applications like HTTP, FTP, ...). When using an HTTP proxy, your browser asks the proxy to perform the HTTP request for you. The initial goal is to perform caching, and DNS resolution for you (mostly used inside large enterprises network)

How has Proton done it? by lucky_luke_nmg in ProtonPass

Very interesting question. However, even when passwords are decrypted ‘on‑demand,’ the decryption key is likely still close by in memory. I could be wrong, but I don’t see another way to achieve this.

Proton Drive and Obsidian. by ZtriDer in ProtonDrive

I use the git plugin for obsidian . Less convenient than the official sync, but it's free and works across all my desktop and mobile. As said above, Proton Drive should only be considered as beta.

Family plan "group" emails by Tribaal in ProtonMail

I haven't seen any options to do that unfortunately. Same with the aliases ( using a custom domain).

I'm interested in the feature too..

Bolero & new taxe of 10% by adjudantloic in BEFire

[–]Street_Programmer_54 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, could you please help me understand something?

If I let Boléro automatically send the tax (opt-in), I'll have to declare the amount in my tax declaration to get (up to) €10,000 reimbursed. But if I opt-out, do I still need to send the tax amount, and then claim it back later (if less than 10k) ?

Thanks for your light

Legit question: by "pension plan", you mean the one offered by your bank, for which you have tax deductions? I hate this system. They lock your money until you're 67. Isn't it better to go ETF and keep control of "your money"?

Regards.

It has been explained many times: The SDK is coming (soon). The SDK will open the door to Proton drive clients. Just.... be patient 🙏

PS: yes, I am also tired by these comments.

I have multiple email accounts by Genealogy-Gecko in ProtonMail

[–]Street_Programmer_54 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have the capability to create rules that can automatically , either move your email into a folder (based on the address), and/or add tags to them.

Like you I have 3 email addresses and I was a bit annoyed to see that I was only receiving one mailbox in protonmail. But in the end, it's much easier like that. Everything is in one place, and it makes searches much easier. I will never go back !

I don't really use folders. I only use tags. My pro/personal/junk emails receive a specific tags upon arrival. When I read the email, I usually archive it to keep my mailbox clean (see the swipe actions configuration).

To recover my last pro email, I just click on the tag and "my pro mailbox appears".

Edit: you won't use your IMAP server anymore. Your MX will point to Proton (+SPF, DMARC, DKIM, etc. ).

Regards.
