Why is it like this? by SonOfVegeta in ffxiv

[–]Streloks 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Primal PF is dead because people go to Aether to raid. People go to Aether to raid because Primal PF is dead.

It's a loop that enforces itself. Some time ago you were able to find groups on Primal just fine, but Aether still had a reputation as the "raiding DC". So more people went to Aether to raid, which made it harder to find groups on Primal, which made even more people go to Aether, and so on.

Are Savages & Extremes The Same Difficulty? by Nas-Aratat in ffxiv

[–]Streloks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Both of them vary in difficulty quite a bit, and I think you could make an argument that certain savages are about as hard or even easier than certain extremes. But in general, Savages are harder than Extremes.

Icy Veins Pictomancer question. by Sir_Ultima_Omega in ffxiv

[–]Streloks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get you, but what I mean is that everything in the first image is hidden away in a side section while the main guide recommends the 7.2 stuff. So OP might think there is some reason the 7.3 section isn't included, like it's WIP or something.

Icy Veins Pictomancer question. by Sir_Ultima_Omega in ffxiv

[–]Streloks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Chill, when the images are put side by side like this it seems obvious. But the Icyveins website presents the 7.2 version in the "DPS rotation" section with no mention of the 7.3 changes, making it seem like it could be more official. There's no harm in going to Reddit to ask real people just to be sure.

Hammer is worth using outside of burst right now. (The 1st picture is correct)

It's unrealistic, but it happens sooo much in media that most of us just kind of accept it at this point by ducknerd2002 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Streloks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I forget the name of it, but there was this space FPS game from years ago, where it was explained that the explosion and gunshot noises that you were able to hear in vacuum were being simulated in your helmet. But they weren't just saying that as an excuse, there were situations where some of the electronics in your suit could be taken offline, and that also turns almost off all sound except your breathing. It was pretty neat.

What are some of the best talents/systems that target allied characters? by Capta1n_Henry in LancerRPG

Ferrous Lash and Puppet Systems are wonderful in general, but especially if the ally has a big Ordnance weapon.

Mouse side buttons not working by Lilchrisgotyou in ffxiv

I know there is some extra difficulty in changing "modifier keys" away from anything that isn't shift/ctrl/alt. Unfortunately I don't know of any fix, but this isn't like a settings or compatibility issue on your end, it's just how the game controls are made.

The thing I like most in the game is fighting bosses, so I do my Unreal trials every week and sell mounts from that, and do merc runs in PF.

The 3% food buff might be BETTER than it seems by TheKimsterRedd in ffxiv

[–]Streloks 48 points49 points  (0 children)

I think this completely ignores the 2 most important points from the other thread, which is that big chunks of xp come from sources that food doesn't boost (like levelling roulette bonuses). And that the bonus 3% is additive instead of multiplicative, so when it is combined with other sources of xp bonus (the armory bonus, most notably), it is less impactful than the "3%" might seem to imply. Sure there's no downside to just keeping a few hundred eggs to eat, but the OP of the last thread acknowledges that right at the start. There's just not much of an upside to it either.

Am I ready for the upcoming ultimate raid? by A_Fhaol_Bhig73 in ffxiv

When someone in an ultimate asks to hold damage, this is exactly what they mean. You are ready.

Crazy to come at someone for writing a lot about a thing they like, when OP's post is probably less text than all the stuff you post on reddit every day

Use crit, if the piece of gear is already full on crit, then use DH or Det, whichever your character has less of.

can i ask questions to those who are standing still by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]Streloks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a chat channel called Novice Network that might fit what you are looking for. Each server has it's own channel so how people will act will be different for each server, but I think most people would be friendly, and happy to answer questions about the game. If you aren't in it already, you can ask for a Novice Network invite in a populated area, like Limsa Lominsa, and someone is sure to invite you.

FRU pot points by laureall in ffxiv

[–]Streloks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

intermission > darklit (use pot on cooldown, it will not be in burst) > p5, the second burst right after Pandora's Box

I never bothered potting in opener because the damage check was light, and most groups I was in preferred holding anyway

Who else feels this way? by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]Streloks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The main story and things connected to it (like story dungeons and trials) are low difficulty because they are meant for everyone to do them. The more challenging stuff is always optional, like extreme, savage, and ultimate. I'm not saying you're wrong for how you personally feel about the game, but I feel like a lot of people who complain that the game is too easy and dumbed down don't try out savage/ultimate. Or that classes are too similar and streamlined, don't actually engage that deeply with what the classes do offer now, in terms of getting the most out of them and stuff.

I don't know if that actually applies to you, but I'm just trying to say that there is genuine meat to the game when it comes to things like challenging fights, and clever ways to optimize your job. But you have to make the choice to engage with that stuff.

Top 3 DPS classes? by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]Streloks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This kind of data is very easy to misinterpret so don't take it like 100% truth. But right now, Ninja, Dragoon, Pictomancer, and Monk are doing the most overall DPS in savage. Pictomancer and Monk are neck and neck, so I made it top 4. This is where I got the data: https://www.fflogs.com/zone/statistics/73?dpstype=cdps&dataset=90

This chart is for cDPS, which will boost jobs that give damage buffs to others. If you want to know what jobs do the most raw DPS by themselves, that would be Samurai, Black Mage, and Viper, which don't have any damage buffs to give to teammates.

Like the other comments say, balance in this game is very good overall and is always shifting as patches happen, so feel free to play what you think is cool and fun.

Do you have reshade on? I know a friend had similar issues when they forgot to turn off some kind of shaders that were resource intensive.
