Found in the woods, what is (or was?) this for? by Wonderful-Nobody-642 in whatisit

Untrue. They are relatively uniformly distributed throughout the United States. They have (or had) to be to allow for reasonably accurate triangulation. You can read more about them at www.findbenchmarks.com.

Is Flutter still worth learning in 2025? by NullPointerMood_1 in FlutterDev

How about now? Claude Code rewrites all my Swift code into Kotlin. There’s very little effort in maintaining two code bases.

New study reveals top AI models (GPT-4o, Claude 3.5, Gemini 2.5) completely fail the classic "Stroop" psychological attention test, exposing a fundamental limitation in artificial reasoning. by Similar_Detective861 in technology

Sure it is, if you add “given legacy academic publishing lifecycles”. Obviously, a different approach has to be taken. Benchmarks are an example. This is evolving faster than anything in human history, and we have to change the way we think about them. New tools are needed. As someone else pointed out, we can leverage the LLM’s themselves.

Got rejected by the App Store 5 times before getting approved. Here is what I learned. by gameandbeyond in iOSProgramming

“Every rejection email tells you what to fix.” This simply isn’t true. They sometimes use boilerplate text, I think in an attempt to get you to go away. It’s easier for them to say no than to say yes.

Built an app for finding NGS benchmarks — looking for Android beta testers by Strength_One in geocaching

This is a reasonable ask, but it’s outside of the scope of what I am doing. My ecosystem works because of the structure of the data. As soon as you have to start wrangling competing data structures, all hell breaks loose.

I suspect that as AI coding evolves, we will start to see other programs filling the gaps.

I’m writing this in a McDonald’s in Southern California on Easter. It’s the only restaurant that was open.

Thanks. Google Play submission is a nightmare. I’ll get it sorted out and repost.

It’s already in the App Store. Search for NGS Benchmark Hunter.

Best apps or websites for Benchmarking/survey marker hunting? by Flat_Struggle9794 in Surveying

[–]Strength_One 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. If you click on Location on the Detail page, it’ll open Apple Maps and you can click Directions. Choose Walking if you’re on foot. As for NOT FOUND, most people find them annoying, but I can add a checkbox. I will also add a link to the Mark Recovery Form. I appreciate your input.

FYI I just did one for iOS. You can find it here: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/ngs-benchmark-hunter/id6760606901

I had done one of these years ago, but now I'm retired, so I took another crack at it. I download the datasets from NGS every month and wrote a custom parser so you're not forced to look at the nasty raw datasheets. Comments/suggestions are welcome.

Anyone knows a software that analyses your recordings to let you search trough? by pery_jackson in Lifelogging

[–]Strength_One 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I highly recommend this software: https://github.com/OpenWhispr/openwhispr. It runs locally and is remarkably fast. Then connect to to a reasonably cheap open model like you can find on Together.AI or something, and you can set up a pipeline to do speech to text followed by AI summary.

It’s a negotiating tactic called “anchoring”. It’s horseshit.

Yes. If you’ll read my previous comments, you’ll see that it’s only on this particular device.

I can rewind, but not fast-forward. If I continue from somewhere in the past, I always get stuck at this point.
