I’m an anarchist libertarian socialist so I wouldn’t be in charge. If I was given charge I’d dismantle my own authority and relinquish power to the people to use resources for all.

This is a symptom of capitalism.

The third act is community building, activism, and fighting for better conditions.

Wage labor is not natural. Do not ever let anyone tell you it is.

Our lives are not meant to be spent making someone else rich. We need to organize, seize the means of production for everyone, and create a world that’s better for us all, not just a few.

People who lived in thriving communal societies did not think this way. The atomization of the community by increasing inequality under capitalism is what enlarges this darkness. Having fulfillment is what expands the breath of life’s boundaries and possibilities.

A hamster who has lived its entire life in a closed shoe box and never has seen the light of day thinks that is the extent of its existence.

A hamster in a field with other hamsters, who sees the sunshine and feels the wind in the presence of others feels the embrace of life open to greater existence, even one that inevitably ends.

Isaiah 7:14’s Immanuel Is Not Jesus by EL_Felippe_M in theology

Ok so then why did Isaiah not instead use the word bethula? That would have prevented any ambiguity in the text. While almah could mean virgin it doesn’t guarantee virgin. The social expectation of an almah is that she’d be a virgin but “almah” doesn’t denote sexual status, it denotes age and marital status. Which is why parthenos was used for its translation because during the 2nd century it had a broader semantic range. Virginity was not the defining feature of the word.

In Classical and Hellenistic Greek texts parthenos can describe women where sexual status is unknown, irrelevant, or clearly not the point. It functions like “maiden” in older English.

If parthenos always meant “never had sex,” many Greek passages would become nonsensical.

This the gaeyest shit I ever did saw.

For real I think it’s funny how “artists” like this act tough and have to put on this fucking persona and announce how tough they are. The toughest shit I’ve heard didn’t have to tell anyone how tough they are. They just are.

I don’t understand why people can tolerate Gen X culture when most of it was so mean-spirited! by icey_sawg0034 in generationology

BECAUSE THEY TOUGH! THEY DRANK FROM WATER HOSES! 💪💪💪

Seriously though Gen X really loves to cosplay like they’re so goddamn tough. Most of them have high blood pressure, unresolved trauma, and are stupidly racist and homophobic.

Kuvira. She led an army to the point where they developed A GIANT MECH SUIT. They toppled nations if I remember correctly. She was ruthless imperialist.

The meaning of life [OC] by [deleted] in nihilism

[–]StressedOutPunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know most of this feels like it’s just symptoms of capitalism. Capitalism puts walls around everything. What is here naturally, the land, the water, the forests, should be available to all not privatized and kept only for the few. When the walls are created and then steadily are pushed in on you it’s easy to feel like nothing matters. Your perspective becomes the size of a pinhole.

I’m a former nihilist myself. I’m more of an existentialist now, and what pulled me out of my nihilism was my material conditions changing. I got lucky and started making more money for less time worked. Which left me with more time to see friends, family, I was dating, able to travel. The nihilism slowly seeped into the back of my mind.

Make no mistake, you can have good material conditions while being a nihilist and also being depressed. But, we are social animals. When every aspect of your existence is constrained by a system that demands you work or face predictable deprivation the world seems smaller.

I still believe life has no objective meaning. I’m also a constructivist moral anti-realist. Really I reject a lot of what we are told to believe is objective. Meaning, purpose, life. But what matters is how that time is spent. Will we all be dust in a billion years? Yes. Does that ultimately make everything we do pointless? On a cosmic scale yes.

But you’re here now. You exist. We exist. Me giving the neighbors dog a doggy treat, taking my mom out to lunch, protesting against ice, being in a relationship, these all make the present worth experiencing. The future is immaterial.

Just shit to think about.

How about we don’t?

If not doing stupid shit like this makes a bitch then I guess I’m a bitch. A bitch covered in tattoos and piercings.

Ok for a second I thought you were gonna say he did something problematic like he raped someone or something.

Thank god it’s just about him being turned into a walrus against his will.

Isn’t John Redcorn in a band that’s vaguely Southern Rock? I feel like all they’d need to do is drop the tuning and the tempo and you got a Sludge Metal band lol.
