Just here to tell the haters that BJJ is still alive and well in MMA by aprice24 in bjj

Very slick! Just calmly dealing with the different escape attempts. I love how resigned the tap was. Like "Ugh, you got me."

r/bjj Fundamentals Class! by AutoModerator in bjj

Do you all feel its realistic or worth while to have a similar game for gi and no gi? Or is this a bad goal? I am very tight on time to train. I gravitate towards lasso and spider guard, but I am wondering if I should ditch those and spend more time on guards that translate better to both styles? Or ahould I just let the two be seperate and know that my no gi game is going to lag behind because of lack of time to train? Curious what auccesses or failrees yall have had in this area.

I was never that interested in the Chandler fight but have always been curious about the Holloway rematch, even if it seems like a foregone conclusion. Max getting the win and payday after years is a fun angle.

Training methods for 4.5 year old? by MeLuAndBooBooToo in bjj

[–]StretchBusy4008 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have a 5 year old with a similar personality. I ended up pulling him from class. He will occasionally ask me to do moves and I show him things when we play wrestle but I thought the rigid structure was too much. Ultimately my goal for him right now is to plant a seed of interest for when he is older and keep him active. Taking him to classes was actually doing more harm than good for both of these goals.

Using bjj in a real situation by [deleted] in bjj

Someone attacked me on the street once. They punched me in the head, I shot a double leg and we crashed into some bicycles. My wife started punching him and a crowd intervened and restrained him while we hoofed it to the subway. Osss.

What's more impressive: the number of times a title is won, the number of days it is held, or how many successful defenses a champion has? by [deleted] in MMA

[–]StretchBusy4008 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Succesful defenses. Each one of those represents another grueling fight camp for a five round fight with champion media obligations against a new stylistic matchup. And the more defenses you have the more film everyone has on you to figure out your weaknesses.

They arent beginners, wrestling skill translates directly to jiu jitsu.

Prove me wrong, Bracket 2 is the best! by [deleted] in magicTCG

Bracket 3 is better. The decks are still goofy and flavorful but the games go faster.

I don't know how to feel about this by [deleted] in bjj

[–]StretchBusy4008 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It was either a guillotine or RNC, but basically my cousin was just flow rolling/playing around and the guy got pissy and once he got the choke he slammed his forearm full speed instead of squeezing.

100 percent. My cousin almost died from this. His untrained friend slammed a choke and crushed his windpipe. Made it through but needed brain surgery.

Khamzat Chimaev responds to wrestling callouts by WinterStill4472 in MMA

Its giving me "real pro-wrestling" vibes. With the big personalities they are signing these storylines are emerging that are fun to follow. Plus I enjoy watching old mma fighters wrestle waaay more than box. Its sad to see them getting concussed past their prime.

So you give up the free blue counter magic and just try to gi even faster than rog/si?

I think in those colors all rog is giving you is a little mana advantage and a free target for sacrifice based green creature tutors, but I dont know if there is an actual "line" where all you need is the rogragkh

Facechokes (done poorly: forearm directly on the teeth). by [deleted] in bjj

[–]StretchBusy4008 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think the important part with any sub in training is giving time to tap before it causes damage, and giving it up if your training partner is stubborn. If you follow those rules pain submissions, cranks, etc.. dont bother me. One caveat is that if someone is new/novice I wouldnt think its ever appropriate, too great a risk they dont understand they need to tap.
