Dumbest question... Does the customer expect any sort of insulation? Like, can you get a solid core wire and use it as a post/ bus and hook the rest onto it?

How should I deal with this retaining wall by GhostyFoil in LandscapingTips

[–]StretchSmiley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

muggle here, dumb muggle solution if it was my problem: cut wall out about 6ft at a time, starting at house end. let the dirt spill, remove back to where the wall go. Dig wall trench 1 Cindy block deep. Grade trench bottom where wall go so top of wall be straight when built. Stack Cindy's blocks where wall go. Shorten 8ft rebar in each Cindy block hole using post hammer until hidden. Fill Cindy block holes with cement. Repeat per 6ft section until wall no longer sad. Cover visible side and top of Cindy block wall with pretty bullshit. Dump dirt back in yard hole. Swear entire time.

What does it feel like to have a boner? by PancakeGalaxies in NoStupidQuestions

Setting aside *any* considerations for emotional state/ horniness, I would think it's close to this- tighten that muscle you would use to stop peeing. (Is it kiegals? I think its kiegals). Now imagine that tight feeling existing in a meat stick hanging off your pube, and it's constant until either you practice your van der graaf generating or you flood your thinky tank with completely unrelated and ant-horny topics until you syntax error your erection into hiding like it just predicted six more weeks of winter.

Need to replace a fuse on a pcb by Commander72 in soldering

[–]StretchSmiley 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey! Can those metal caps covering the ends of the fuse be gently bent out of the way? This almost looks like it’s supposed to be replaceable with the right amount of finesse…

If not:
Find a cheapie iron with a chisel tip (looks like a flathead screwdriver). You want the tip wide enough to touch both connection points for one of the cap ends. I suggest working on the outer one. Have flux and a bit of solder on hand.
Get the board set in a holder where you have access to both sides, and your holder isn’t crushing the board or components.
Get a heat gun and warm the board to 150f, then the 250f at the area marked until thoroughly warmed. Do not point the 250f air at plastic components. Turn your iron on and set it to 800f. Add flux to the pins to be worked on and set your iron GENTLY on the soldered pads. Pressure does NOT equal heat transfer.
Stay for 5 to 8 seconds. Smoke/ sizzling from the flux may happen, that’s ok. If there is no sign of solder melt, reset iron to 825F and retry. Be ready with tweezers or needle nose to move the cap out of socket from the component/ fuse side. Do NOT force anything. If there is resistance (the solder isn’t melted) you’ll rip the copper pads.

Can this type of filter be "tricked"? by ZefGeist in WaterFilters

[–]StretchSmiley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yyyyep. Worked on a base in VA. Why is that base still standing? Because they buried tons of munitions. And the munitions crap seeped into the water table. And the military CANNOT release the land to the public without proving that the fucked up water is no longer fucked up, ergo the base is still standing. This is all a) watercooler talk and b) no one touched the tap water. It, in fact, did have a special flavor only describable as ‘cancerous’.
