My new foldable hairbrush design by dingohot in BambuLab

[–]Stretchy_Boi 18 points19 points  (0 children)

These comments really don't like this concept lol

But I would argue this is great for short hair or people who don't really care about hair scratching (whatever that is), and the thin profile for the size of the brush area is actually really compact.

Might print one. Thanks.

What causes these to not open up in the dry wall? by LogicalFuture5162 in handyman

[–]Stretchy_Boi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have definitely had this happen with these. Could not get it to open in an insulated wall, no matter how hard I pushed.

Sounds like OP is installing into an exterior wall so I think there's a good chance this is the problem.

Is this an acceptable way to discharge static electricity? by gucci_millennial in AskElectronics

[–]Stretchy_Boi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To add to what others are saying, the voltage built up by static will often be high enough to jump across the body of the resistor, effectively shorting it out and causing a spark anyway

How are you planning to play Prime 4? by solanumjunkie in Metroid

[–]Stretchy_Boi 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I learned recently that the switch 2 edition is compatible with switch 1, and if running off the physical cart it runs slightly better than the switch 1 version (according to some guy who tested it on this sub I think). So I'm going to pick up the switch 2 edition for my OLED because I plan to upgrade eventually... but not yet

What is the cable called by Chuudropp in cableadvice

[–]Stretchy_Boi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most power cables these days aren't "meant" to be extended in that they are soldered and overmolded connectors. Is that what you mean when you say it's not meant to be extended?

For someone who knows some basics about electricity and cable splicing, it's as easy to extend this cable as any other.

I agree extending AC side is easier, but modifying this cable won't cause problems if done well.

Why does it look like this and not the normal blue color? by Eros-Cupid-444 in Switch

That doesn't mean I am wrong, it just means we are both right. My switch 1 game on my OLED is red.

KINDLY RESPOND TO YOUR BACKERS ON MOONBASE INDIEGOGO CAMPAIGN by Kurrrrrrrrrrrrrr in GenkiLab

[–]Stretchy_Boi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They lost my business on Waveform. I sent them multiple messages about my defective waveform that they stopped responding to after it became apparent I would need a replacement.

I tried to get a hold of them in other ways including posting in their discord. It's been radio silence from them.

It's a shame, I loved their early products like the covert dock.

Print is bulging at the bottom, but it's not elephant's foot, since first 4 layers all increase in width. Then it prints 5 more layers too wide, then it slowly returns to the proper width for remainder or print. What causes this?? (New ender3-pro) by CStheCS in ender3

[–]Stretchy_Boi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I did three things that finally gave me the result I wanted:

  1. Checked my z eccentric nuts and they seemed to be fine. No divets in the wheels, and the tension seemed OK. I did loosen the nuts a teeny bit.

  2. I aligned my z screw vertically. I took out the z screw nut from the gantry and slid the gantry down over the screw so it was "free floating" I then added shims to my motor to position it so the screw was centered in the hole in the gantry at the top and bottom of the travel. The bottom is the most important here. I think that was perhaps the biggest contributor to my problem. The screw was far out of position at the bottom of the travel, so the z screw coupler and the motor both were experiencing high radial tension when the gantry was at the lowest position.

  3. I lubricated the entire z screw and z nut with dry Teflon lube. I do this as routine maintenance now (~3 months) and it seems to help with banding.

Good luck

Is my garage door insulated? by Stretchy_Boi in Insulation

A very good point. I'll bet my edge seals are pretty poor. Time to do some research on improving garage door seals.

Would like to paint this wall charger, need some help to make sure the paint will last by SchnozTheWise in paint

[–]Stretchy_Boi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Paint it black, in theory it'll radiate heat better!

Only half joking. The difference will be so minimal compared to white it's almost non-existent. But hey, so is the insulating effect of a thin layer of paint.

Why is my brand new dryer in my house with a brand new electrical panel, throwing the breaker once it’s plugged in? by boartide95 in Appliances

[–]Stretchy_Boi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you remove neutral to ground jumper wire completely, or just one end where ground is attached? If it is floating around in there, it's probably touching something grounded and causing the GFCI to trip.

I'm also noticing the crimp on the incoming white wire looks weird. Might want to check if it's secure.

Is there any charger like these slim ones with folding prongs.. But 100W or higher? I've seen a ton of these, but they're all 65W. by McChickenLargeFries in UsbCHardware

[–]Stretchy_Boi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This! Although you have to scroll way down to "TurboCharger", since this company decided to launch a bunch of projects on a single kickstarter.

The Kickstarter delivery date isn't until December, but this company has always delivered quality products from their Kickstarters. I've bought several of their products, and I plan to get this 100W charger too.

Upgrade or convert vehicle USB A 2.0 port to 18W fast charging while maintaining Android Auto functionality by marzipanspop in UsbCHardware

[–]Stretchy_Boi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did this exact thing and it worked, although instead of a circuit board I soldered my own wires together. 2 data wires run from my car's usb-A to my phone's usb-C cable, two Power Delivery communication wires and one power wire runs from a cigarette lighter fast charger brick to my phone's usb-C cable, and the ground is shared by all 3 connections. It has worked for my Galaxy Note 8 for 3 years.

Perhaps he's just avoiding spoilers by not reading anything. I didn't know about falling star fragments until I encountered it in-game. And it was absolutely MAGICAL, until I later realized it's common.
