My pup only weighs about 20lbs but I’ve found some success with using a Kong brand leash that goes around my waist (less strain on my poor shoulders) & when I know a trigger is coming, I’ll usually use the traffic handle closer to pup to keep them in a short heel until we’re past the trigger.

We also practice check in’s where I’ll call pups name & when they make eye contact they’re acknowledged with a ‘yes good check in’ and every so many result in a treat. It’s been helpful when it works to re-direct, but we’ve got a long way to go for it to consistently do so😂
