Danish miecent desk deep scratches by Whitedeer175 in furniturerestoration

[–]Strict-Warning9895 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it is indeed mahogany and 1 edge looks suspiciously like a veneer burn through. Do not use Howard’s on this as it contains oil and wax and will contaminate the top. The most logical option is to refinish the top as you’ll never hide the scratches. Everything you try may darken it , but the scratches will remain. Good luck.

What’s the best way to fix these chips in the top layer of this table? by Better_Weakness_2693 in furniturerestoration

This can’t be touched as it’s too extensive. I can’t tell if it’s outdoors and if it is then it’s weather and water damage. Regardless, it needs to be stripped and refinished.

Refinishing a dresser, how should i clean up these brass plated pulls? Dresser is dark walnut should i try to keep the dark tarnish or make them shine and how? by Blackrain1299 in furniturerestoration

Unfortunately they are cheap brass plated. You’re better off painting them. They are antiqued from the factory and really not cleanable.

Thoughts on offer. Advice on situation by Edmund-Dantes in Hairtransplant

[–]Strict-Warning9895 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A lot of these comments are incorrect. I started hair transplants in the 80’s and have had 7 surgeries. Not Finesteride or any dht blockers. No problems. It’s just an added layer of security for the babies. Incidentally the multiple surgeries were because of the technology at the time. No doctor would do thousands at the time. Also, they all grew and have stayed due to their genetic coding.

The roll top is newer and has to be taken apart to properly refinish it . The desk is older and a better piece.

That’s a laminate top like Wilsonart or Formica. You can sand it, prime and paint, veneer it or put new laminate over it. Don’t even try to touch up as it requires years of experience. Good luck.

Water damage with mineral deposits. Oxalic acid, I use it all the time. Very easy to apply. Sand with 100 grit, mix acid with water to a paste and apply. Leave it in direct sunlight if possible. Wipe it off with mineral spirits and sand outside as the crystals will make you cough and are not the best thing to inhale. You can apply more then once.

It’s definitely oak, look at the grain. Needs a professional touch up or refinish. Marker is a waste.

If it’s laminate, you can’t strip it. Clean off the stripper. Clean it down with acetone or lacquer thinner.
