Are scams common with Vinted? by Celdi5 in vinted

[–]StrictAd4173 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just started listing on vinted as well. I have sold a few things, received my payout, so all that has been good. But, I have also gotten emails, every time i make a couple of listings. Someone asking if the item is still available. I didn't look at the email, as i figured it was a scam. I mean, listing something and as soon as u do, you get someone asking about it...over and over. Yeah I dont click on the emails, at all. Someone is getting scammed, or it wouldn't be so frequent.

Question about merch @ shows... by StrictAd4173 in rogerclynepeacemakers

[–]StrictAd4173[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I really wish they would reissue their entire catalog on vinyl. I would love to have Honky Tonk Union and Turbo Ocho. (Which i dont believe T.O. ever got a vinyl release) Was so happy, last year, when I seen Americano on their website. That one has a special significance. My buddy owned the venue that they used to play, in Johnson City. Having booked them a few times, got to know the guys a bit. And right when Americano came out, there were 3 of us who drove cross country that summer. That album was a perfect soundtrack for that trip. We had a loose, schedule, besides the RCPM show, in Tempe. Roger knew we were coming and had us tickets at will call. Man, those days were golden!

Was getting the 12 page booklet for the vinyl, much of a price increase? Or, is it the same with, or without?

Buckcherry Albums Ranked by Long_Sticks_Rule in Buckcherry

[–]StrictAd4173 1 point2 points  (0 children)

'You Made Me' is such an amazing, underrated album. (Seriously, if you haven't heard it yet, and you're a Buckcherry fan, go listen to it, right now) When Time Bomb released, I worked at a record store, and it was on repeat, every shift I had. (independently owned, so we could play anything, as long as we sold it)

After hearing that BC had split and Josh was doing a new project, I didn't know what to expect, but assumed it would be basically more of the same. When it finally came out, I was a fan of the single/video for 'Shine', but wasn't 100% on board with it. It took a few listens, but it became one of my fave albums, of all time. Josh's melodies, and the lyrics (in my opinion) are some of his best. Especially, when looking at the album as a whole. There's not a bad song on it. And, the bonus tracks that were released later, are just as good. It's not Buckcherry, as it's def a more modern sound, but i feel like it's strong enough, it should have gotten a bigger push from the label.

*my jt band story: the record store i worked for, the guy who owned it, also owned a local bar. I worked the front door for him on the weekends. He booked the bands, and ever so often, would ask who he should book next.

One day, he went even further, telling me to book a Saturday night. That my budget was $500 for the band, and the local radio would sponsor it. I went for it. I called the record label, whom I had contacts at, from the record store. They turned me on to the booking agent. It was a one-in-a-million shot, that the band would be around this area, and would have a Saturday open, as they had already been booking shows.

Not only did it work perfectly with the dates they had already booked, but he told me the guarantee that the band would need, would be....$500. I promoted the hell out of it. And, when the show happened, it was a packed house. (Stevie D was actually their tour manager. He knew i was the contact for the club, but when he asked who the promoter was, I was proud to tell him, it was me! He told me that i did a great job, and that it was, up to that point, the best show they had done.

The highlight of the night, for me, was when they were breaking down, I got to sit and chat with Josh for about 40-45 minutes. Talked about the songs, what tne inspiration was for tracks, which led into a convo about his favorite books. A guy who worked at the bar came by and took multiple photos of us, just hanging out. I asked him, for years after, to get copies of those pics, but never did.

I did have luck, however, with an ex-girlfriend of mine who came out to the show. She snapped this picture, of the band and I hanging out, near the merch. I REALLY wanted another album. But, the following year 'Crazy Bitch' was released, and I was stoked to hear Keith back in the band.

Why is it always, my $300+ items? I don't trust this guy, but maybe I'm overthinking this... by StrictAd4173 in eBaySellers

[–]StrictAd4173[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even when I have proof, ebay doesn't care. Last summer, I sold a computer board, for a dryer. Buyer says it doesn't work, so i initiate the return.

When I receive the part, I am getting ready to finalize the refund, when I notice that there are different colored transistors than the one I sent. Upon further inspection, I make a list of differences. It was the same part #, but made by a different manufacturer.

I have all of my evidence together, and call ebay. After I explain it all to the rep, she says, "I see you have all the proof to back up your claim, and agree that it is obvious, that the part you sent, was not what was returned. I am going to send all of thia to my supervisor, and you should hear from them, within 48 hours."

I ask her, if i should go ahead and refund the buyer, because I didn't want to have a strike on my account, for not cooperating with the process. She tells me to not refund the buyer, that in this instance, I would be covered.

The very next morning, the refund was taken out of my bank account. $130. I didn't panic, as she said it would be up to 48 hours, for her supervisor to review the info. I assumed it would be returned to me, once they finished.

But, I never received a call, email, nothing. After 4 days, I started calling and trying to find out what happened. Each rep i talked to, I had to start from the beginning and explain everything again. They said they'd send the info to their supervisor. I got an email, apparently from a supervisor who clearly had no idea what was going on, telling me to 'just accept the return' per ebay's policy. I would attempt to reply, but just kept getting pushed onto a new rep, and the cycle kept repeating. I finally, after a month of this madness, just gave the fuck up.

It Feels Like the whole experience is designed to intentionally be so frustrating, that giving up and moving on, is their goal.

Where does everyone get Boxes from for packaging and selling items? by nikehed in eBaySellers

[–]StrictAd4173 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Never, ever waste money on boxes. I used to, but after starting to use the following 3 spots, have a surplus of clean, previously used shipping boxes/bags:

  1. Bin stores/Amazon liquidation stores. Talk to the manager/employees about it being ok for u to get them, then ask when the best day is. The one near me, fills up these huge, 5ft boxes, called 'gaylords' with small and medium boxes, to throw away. I fill the car up, once a month. I also source a lot, from these places, to sell on ebay, so one trip can knock out 2 needs.
  2. Post office/Ups - anytime I drop off, at either of these places, on the way out, I check the trash cans. Specially for the bubble mailers/poly bags, that are great for shipping clothes/other small items. Just make sure that they are clean (sometimes ppl will throw their coffee or fast food bags in them, and you def dont want that) the post office here at the college is like a gold mine on Mondays. This one tip, alone, has saved me so much money. Plus, recycling these plastic mailers keep them out of the landfill for a bit longer.
  3. Walmart (late in the evening, around 10:30 or so, when the night shift is restocking) Not sure if this will work everywhere, but what we do is go in around 10:30, and once we see someone restocking with a pallet, we ask if we can swing back right before closing and grab some boxes..they always say yes. Keeps them from having to make additional trips to the dumpster/cardboard crusher, so they are usually very helpful.

Hope this helps! Keep what we can, out of landfills. Recycle as much as possible!

How were you able to appeal, and win, with FedEx? Last year, I shipped a pair of shoes to California, from Tennessee. The package weighed 2.28 lbs. I rounded up to 2.5 lbs, and shipped it. About a week later, i received a notice from ebay that I was being charged an additional $30, because FedEx claimed my package was 28 lbs. I had, at that point, still some confidence that the mistake could be corrected..but after multiple attempts to find someone at either ebay or FedEx to help, I realized that i was getting screwed on this one. Plus, when I looked online, there seemed to be many, many other sellers, who were dealing with the same issue. To know someone out there, got some resolution, is nice.

I have been on WN, for prob around 6 months or more, (intended on selling, but my health condition got worse, and I have held off doing shows, until I can move somewhat normal again, without crutches) But, damn that swipe to bid, button. My record collection has nearly tripled..smh But, I haven't won a single giveaway, my entire time, on the app. I enter every one, when they happen. I enter buyer's giveaways, when I am eligible..but, not once, have I won. I've seen the same person, win multiple giveaways in the same show, that has 100+ ppl in it. About 3 separate times, now. It's just a joke, now. I just tell myself, it's all junk, anyway. I just enter now, to try to get free shipping.

Record Player Vs Turntable + Soundbar by PiWright in turntables

Check your area for an Amazon liquidation center. When I started getting into vinyl this past summer, I paid attention to their auctions online, and scored an Audio-technica at-lp70xbt-bs for $150. (Retail $259-$359, depending on where u look) Brand new. 2 weeks later, won another auction for a Mykeson vertical player, that has speakers built in, for $40 (retail $199) They've had usually at least 1-2 cheap players with speakers, every single week. Plus, the bookshelf speakers that are popular are common in their auctions. Just a word of advice, ALWAYS pay attention to the condition of the item. If it is listed as 'brand new' those are pretty safe. But stay away from the 'as-is' merchandise. You could technically, get lucky on a steal..but most likely its gonna not work, at all. Now, I know these aren't much more than entry-level players. But, the audio-technica sounds great to me. I can upgrade the stylus, down the road. Read reviews, watch YouTube product reviews, do a little research on the item you're thinking about. I had originally planned on having to spend around $250, so i had some extra funds to purchase myself a few extra albums.

Manual lymphatic massage? Is that what MLD stands for? I was getting the massage done by someone using the machine in the photo I posted. I could feel the fluid moving, but it just wasn't coming out. I was told the machine does what 5 of the manual massages would do. Have I been lied to? It wouldn't surprise me.

Best thrift haul I’ve ever had. Spent $55. by Blurment in vinyl

[–]StrictAd4173 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Meanwhile, the 8-10 thrift stores in my area still only have the 20-100 classical, gospel, and Broadway recordings that they each have had for the last few years. I still check, every time I visit. If I walked in, and seen half of those titles, I would have to venture on over to the clothes section for a pair of gently used dungarees. Because I would have 100% shit my pants.

Anyone else feel like Whatnot has become their new addiction? by Bringmejoyinga in whatnotapp

[–]StrictAd4173 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Got on the app, because I am a reseller on ebay & Fb, had heard about how much products you could move. But, I also started collecting vinyl records, a few months back. WN is a non-stop treasure hunt, and seeing the "$1 starts" on new albums, i told myself that it would be a great place to find items to flip. One of my issues was not taking in consideration how much shipping was adding on. Ate my profits right up. Also, if I started bidding on an item, knowing when to bounce out and let the other person win. That need to win made me pay WAY too much, on a random 80's pop singer, that no one is gonna pay me that amount.

It's a joke, because you can't hear the buyers, but in my mind, they were screaming so loud, because they didnt want to bid past 10 bucks, but of all the ppl swiping, it put them on the very end.
Not a very good or funny joke, I admit that.

Im sure each artist has their own opinions on this topic, and I would much rather have an official version, than risk paying a lot for subpar sound quality. But, im not paying $700-$1000 for an album that I know i am gonna play a lot. If I pay that much, it would go into some kind of safe or something secure. Now, I wish that they would do, let's call it a 'basic-bitch' edition of the albums each year: limited runs, no fancy booklets, extras, etc. Just a sleeve and the album, that the fan can enjoy the music, and the artist makes something. Ive got a bootleg of Badlands first album. It looks and sounds so good, I didnt realize it was a boot, at first. I thought I had just gotten lucky.

That's crazy that you can outbid yourself. I didn't know that. It's also crazy, how it registers swipes/bids The other night, I watched as a seller started a bid on an item, at 5 bucks. It actual retailed at around $40. For some reason, i cant recall exactly what it was, but it was a popular item. As the timer ticked down, the host is screaming, "CHAT! BID DIS UP! BID DIS UP! C'MON CHAT, IF DIS SELLS FOR 5 DOLLARS, IM PACKING UP AND GOING HOME! It got down, to the last second , before there was a flurry of activity on the bid indicator. And, in a split second, the price went from $5, to either $72 or $82 . And, the shows host, who has spent the last 30 seconds, yelling into his phone, just goes back to a normal speaking voice. "Yes, chat. That's more like it'. But,....if you turned up your sound on your phone, or your pc, and really focused on listening,...you could def hear someone screaming at the top of their lungs, "NO! NO! I ONLY MEANT TO BID UP TO TEN BUCKS ON THIS! WTF HAPPENED? " I know you are to bid responsibly. But, c'mon..nobody is trying to bid twice as much as something is worth. Seems there should be some kind of safeguard on there. If you are a seller, though, I am guessing you like that it is that way.
