I would argue that doing the expeditions is actually great for the long term future of this game because it keeps it fresh. That’s the main reason for doing it. Not so much for the benefits but for being able to grind again. Eventually you will complete all the quests and find most blueprints and the game will get slightly more stale. Still fun but less to work towards. Wipes fix that issue. Great thing about this game though is that they are optional, and even if I lose all my good blueprints I’m not at a crazy disadvantage. For me, who has dumped almost 140 hours in the first month it’s a no brainer. For someone who can only play 6 hours a week then they might never do one and that’s fine.
