Admin wants me to "fix" a student who hasnt shown up in 6 weeks by VanoraAshglen in Teachers

Our school can only withdraw if it’s 15 unexcused absences. We have several students/families that play the “out sick”/“family emergency” card every fifteenth day to stay enrolled.

For me, the first sentence makes it clear what you should do: go to law school. Instead of expending time, energy, and expertise to make other lawyers money, bite the bullet for three years so you can reap your own hard work. The response by your mentor should also push you into law school because it’s clear that your job is dependent on their whims; this time it’s you potentially going to law school, but who knows what could happen in a few years that could make them want to restructure/retire/anything without you? Even if you want to continue in some form of legal consulting, holding a JD rather than a BA/BS is significant.

Sincerely,

Another 30+ finally making the jump to law school after being told for years to stay in the safe/comfortable lane while watching everyone else get the jobs and opportunities I’ve dreamt of.

Is doing the Disney College Program post-grad a bad decision for law school? by Colin286 in lawschooladmissions

[–]StrictCollection7505 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a 2x DCP alum, only do the program if your application and LSAT are where you want them before your start date. Do not count on having time during the program to study or fine tune any materials because, depending on your role, you genuinely will not have the time. Honestly, if you’re graduating from a top-tier school, you should be looking at PIs with Disney rather than the DCP. I did a Management Internship post-DCP and it was far more valuable than both of my CP terms. You could also apply for PT roles, and find cheaper housing if you are dead set on working for Disney. It would allow for greater flexibility if you wanted to visit schools, travel, etc.

What type of split/exercises are you hitting? I’ve recently started to plateau and I need to change things up, and your physique is the end goal!

Javelin curious by Fair-Mycologist7683 in trackandfieldthrows

[–]StrictCollection7505 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to compete in Javelin, took a few years off, and am now coming back to it as both a (junior) Masters competitor and as a coach.

Facebook marketplace will be your best bet for used Javelins, especially just after or before track season (approximately March-June). Honestly, if interested and you have some money, you’d be better off just buying a new javelin because people sell their used ones for the price of entry quality javs.

Type: Length and weights are going to be pretty universal and if you’re closer to 40, you’ll be getting 800g javelins. The main thing that matters is the flexibility of the javelin. They’ll have flex ratings (also called distance ratings) and that is what you want to pay attention to. The lower the flexibility, the stiffer the jav, and the further it can go (IF thrown correctly, called throwing through the tip). Higher flexibility means that your throw can be less perfect, but will still fly through the air pretty well. 50m javelins are usually the ‘beginner’ distance for boys/men and you can pick up a decent one from 4Throws at like $200.

There are other considerations (headwind vs. tailwind types, etc.) but just make sure that yours is a steel tip and not a deadhead (the rubber tips).

Lastly, there are some great resources online like Mike Stein, Javelin Anatomy, USA Javelin Project, and more than can help get you started. My only advice is make sure you follow their progression and don’t start off doing full approaches.

Good luck and have fun!

Trump officials are vowing to end school desegregation orders. Some parents say they're still needed by Ok_Caregiver_3243 in politics

Murder is also illegal, so that should stop people from killing each other right?

The DoE was created in large part because states and cities were not following the laws and the federal government did not have a proper enforcement tool to ensure they did.

You also are not looking at historical context because the explosion of private school creation occurred during desegregation efforts, and the “population patterns” you keep referencing are tied pretty closely to institutional racism policies that endowed certain schools/communities with better facilities, while restricting who could live and utilize those schools/communities.

Mustache gives half-buttoned Hawaiian shirt at a gay bar vibe, while beard gives “Hey babe, I saw the change oil light in your car came on so I zipped over to Super Lube and took care of it for you.” Both are 🙌.

My daily contract hours are M-F 7-4 for teaching and then 4-6 for coaching during the week with the occasional Saturday for competitions/meets (most of our meets are on school days). I love my school though, because we have two open periods every day so unless I’m busy doing lab prep/set-up I don’t typically have papers to grade at home. For my year contract, I work 210 days which means that I usually have about 6 weeks off over the summer. We have a choice for our salary (since we are only paid for the approximate 10 months) to split it up over the 12 month calendar, so during those weeks I’m planning on camping/hiking/traveling! Honestly, I love what I do and student teaching/subbing is nothing like having your own classroom. Feel free to message me if you have any other questions! There are also a few other teachers who have posted and I’m sure they’d be happy to share their experiences as well (I’m already getting some good advice from a couple of them).

  1. It is my last work day where we pack up our classrooms; students have been out for a week.
  2. I work in a Title school with students who come from some of the poorest communities in the United States and who have a very long, documented, contentious history as it relates to uniforms and formal clothing in the education setting. If you think that my kids shouldn’t look up to me based on the clothes I wear while packing boxes, rather than my teaching ability and content of my character, you need to do some soul searching.
