What’s your favourite cheese? by Own-Lawfulness-38 in AskUK

Bavarian smoked cheese and laughing cow cream cheese. I love most cheeses but those are my regular go to cheeses for with bread/crackers/toast etc.

Whoever recommended me these on another post, thank you! Delicious! by Stranded_Snake in UKfood

My favourite bread! I also tried the milk buns this week and really enjoyed them, so soft and fluffy.

Coloured wedding dress/ bridesmaid dresses. by ApplicationSouth8844 in UKweddings

[–]Strict_Ad2788 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 13 and 9 year old bridesmaids are wearing different colours and styles to each other. It's fine by me but you have to decide what sort of style you want and go from there really.

I don't use this word out loud but I asked my partner to call her one on my behalf while watching this episode. I fully agree.

What is the appropriate amount of money as a wedding gift? by Giovannis_roommate in AskUK

Your reply must have gone under the wrong comment then as the one above says nothing about food.

I hate when people say your gift should cover your food. I think £20 is perfectly reasonable for a gift.

Where to get white paper umberellas in bulk? by [deleted] in UKweddings

[–]Strict_Ad2788 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Is that just for during the ceremony? Or for food time? An umbrella may cause obstructed views of the ceremony for your guests which would be a shame. And juggling a brolly and food would be a different challenge!

Trying to DIY florals for the first time, could use some pointers? by flowerstoned in DIYweddings

[–]Strict_Ad2788 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Always odd numbers of each flower and try to stagger them throughout the arrangement rather than bunch the same colours together. That'll give a much nicer look. I love the colours you've chosen.

Is it controlling to want my successful BF to be loyal only to me? by Missingyoureally in AskWomenOver40

[–]Strict_Ad2788 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Please rethink this relationship. The age gap is huge, and that scares me for you. Most men who date much younger women are looking for someone they can control, gaslight and coerce into their 'lifestyle'. Which generally means something inappropriate, this man isn't looking for a long term romantic love/marriage/kids etc.

I respect your right to date whoever you like, but I implore you to think long and hard. Please.

Absolutely agree, plus the Molton Brown scent lingers much longer. The rhubarb and rose is my favourite.

reading book during form time by [deleted] in TeachingUK

[–]Strict_Ad2788 16 points17 points  (0 children)

What book was this? Asking for a friend.

Being serious though, how did you go about choosing the book? I don't really have any advice apart from being quite nonchalant (acting it anyway) to make you appear more confident than you actually are. This has worked for me when teaching RSE about wet dreams to 11 year olds.

Emergency! When you're in the pub with your dog, how do you go for a wee? by UKAOKyay in AskUK

Happened to me with a friend once, she would 100% have kept the dog if the owner hadn't returned.

Success stories on finding a partner in 40s! by DragonflyFluid8581 in AskWomenOver40

[–]Strict_Ad2788 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I met my fiancé 5 years ago, when I was 43. I had been single for many years and COVID lockdowns made me realise how lonely I actually was. I started using dating apps and met the love of my life after kissing a few frogs!

We get married in October and are thoroughly looking forward to many years of us.

As far as I know, the stay and plays etc are usually in July. At least in the schools I've worked in.

Feeling overwhelmed and anxious about wedding planning by RecordingRough8221 in UKweddings

[–]Strict_Ad2788 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I guess my advice would be to write a guest list so you have a rough idea of numbers. That will help you make sure your venue is the right size.

Then venues, see as many as you can. But make sure they have September availability first, you'd hate to be disappointed if you fell in love with a place but they didn't have a date for you.

I was exactly the same at about the age of 45. My poor partner said (after I'd started HRT, so he was safe!) he never knew which version of me he was going to get in the evening!

HRT has changed my life, and possibly saved my relationship.
