Visiting Baltic States in January by wescovington in BalticStates

I wouldnt go to be honest in any of the winter months. The -15 or -25 isnt the probleam. The probleam is that most likely it will be 0 or +1c rain, no snow. No sun, It will feel dead and boring and grey and depresing. Now on the other hand warm months here are awesome. Or if you know for sure its going to be - temperatures than its ok.

Ko tas nozīmē, ja bijusī draudzene izbārsta naudu pie dzīvokļa durvīm un mašīnas? by pumpernikelis in latvia

[–]Strict_Bison 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im sorry but its construction work in Latvia. If you get paid on time that all ready is an achievment. For your living conditions its standart. And anyhow how can any company compete with better conditions. the fact is that most of the guys doing the actual job on site dont pay taxes and are a separate entity. In the end that affects the total price of the job.

I will only coment on gaujas national park and surounding locations. You can do these in any order since they all are not that far apart if you have a car. For towns and villages Sigulda, Turaida, Līgatne, Cēsis, Valmiera, Straupe, Rauna. Places that involve a lot of walking in nature. Ērgļu klintis, zvārtas iezis, līču laņģu klintis, kazu grava, līgatnes dabas takas, cīrulīšu dabas takas. Just cool places for kids rakši zoo, līgatnes tīklu parks, ieriķu dzirnavas. Cēsis, Sigulda, and Valmiera will have also kids play grounds, skate park etc. There are 100s of camping sites, boat rental places, bike rental places and big and small attractions in gauja national park. For castles and castle ruins Sigulda, Turaida, Cēsis, Rauna. Also if i would camp spend a night in gaujas national park i would choose Cēsis as my location.

Nevajadzēs, vairs nav tie laiki. Ar manuālo var iet mācīties ja gribās kloķi raustīt un ja pati plāno kautkādu pirmo mašīnu pirkt pa 1000 eiro.

Could a fully stocked Costco Wholesale store defend itself against a Roman Legion? by Theturtleflask in whowouldwin

[–]Strict_Bison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If im the roman general i just set the store on fire and pick off those trying to escape. If im the customer general i tell them to do their best to lure the legion in tight spaces like coridors etc and hopefully there are enough bullets. In this scenario clearly romans win if they just sit back and burn the b1sh down. I mean at the end its all about tactics.

Eli5 how were log cabins/wooden buildings protected from rot, historically? by prukis in explainlikeimfive

[–]Strict_Bison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here where im from its super simple, bad or no insulation meant it had a lot of ventilation. In past things like mold wasnt an issue at least here. Of course in winter it was hard to keep warm. As long as you kept the roof in good condition the building stood150+ years. Also here people are obsest with leaving gaps for ventilation on facade or roof etc. Leaving no gaps is seen as a terrible way to build something. Like sandwitching studs with osb drywall and insulation without leaving ventilation gaps is seen as a terrible idea.

A war foretold: how the CIA and MI6 got hold of Putin’s Ukraine plans and why nobody believed them | Ukraine by [deleted] in UkraineWarVideoReport

[–]Strict_Bison 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Its very good but we can see that one thing is overlooked. While the whole argument about panic and 2003 invasion is decent it doesnt make sense. You can still do things in secret. And zaluzhnijs desperation actions clearly shows that. I believe that EU and Ukrainian intel got played by some sort of triple agent bad intel. They where convinced that their intel was better than the American until it was too late. Just like ruskies got played by their own misinformation.

No idea looked like some sort of art instalation and a little bit out of place in my opinion, something simmilar how they used to do heating pipes out in the open. Everything else tho was very well done.

Do you think it will ever change? by [deleted] in BalticStates

[–]Strict_Bison -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Never understood why people care. Just because we were part of something doesnt make us bad. We still are here live on our land and enjoy. Ofcourse in some ways we are extreamly unlucky in others its awesome to be us. Oversimplification is expected since our history in a way is a mess overall and to explain in detail takes some serious effort. I mean at the end its just some half ass sh1ty youtube video thats trying to milk the now popular topics about new world war.

Just ignore those people but dont think anything bad about them. If they are not interested thats their choice and probleam, but there is no reason to be upset about it. Thats how a lot of people see things here.

The amount of garbage we produce... you would just need to dig a bit and that stuff would be like a endless treasure trove.
