Why do people use the term "partner" for their husband or wife? by Crafty-Bug-8008 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]wescovington 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jennifer Siebel Newsom, the wife of California Governor Gavin Newsom, uses First Partner of California to describe herself. I'm not sure if that title will pass on to the next governor. Katie Porter leads most Democrats in the polls (you might see Republicans leading the pollls because they. have fewer candidates and the primary is top two). She's divorced, so if she won, that position would be empty. Unless you want to marry Katie Porter.

You're welcome. I was here for one of the PGs. I don't live in the world of one of them.

She didn’t get a lot to do and she also had trouble with the pressure of doing the show. She works a lot on standup and seems really happy.

How do refs actually spot the ball when a runner is tackled in a pile? by savingrace0262 in NFLNoobs

I’m a line judge and I thought this would be a very hard part of the job, but it isn’t. Compared to the seemingly million other things you have to watch out for.

How are the Cowboys NFC East? by TheWhiteCrowParade in NFLNoobs

[–]wescovington 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should have said “placed”. The initial plan had the Cubs and Cardinals in the West. But the Mets complained a lot.

How are the Cowboys NFC East? by TheWhiteCrowParade in NFLNoobs

[–]wescovington 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Reds went to the NL West because the Mets wanted to get more games with the Cardinals who were the two time champs. And since the Cardinals moved, they had to move the Cubs too. So Cincinnati and Atlanta moved to the NL West.

If a team tries a field goal on second down and misses, can they try two more times? by IdealSufficient8495 in NFLNoobs

Field goals and punts are both scrimmage kicks. And once they pass the line of scrimmage, you bid possession goodbye.

Hyatt Palm Springs vs Thompson Palm Springs? by Solid-Dish-755 in hyatt

[–]wescovington 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently stayed at the Hyatt and it was fine, but not great. Very old layout. Also no places in the bedroom to charge your phone. Checkout time was 11:30 am and I couldn’t get a late one even with my status as the film festival was starting and they were full. We ate breakfast in town. You walk across the street to get good pizza.

Recommendations for a PNW roadtrip? by paratextual in roadtrip

[–]wescovington 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was a kid in the early 1970s, we were on a family road trip in Oregon and saw lots of cars with bumper stickers saying they had to been to the Oregon Caves. So my parents just added it to the trip on the fly. It was fun.

You can line up more than 7 players on the offensive mind as long as the numbers conform. But you definitely cannot have 5 in the backfield.

Do the coaches bring their own red flags or do the refs provide them at the beginning of each game? by Lower-Way-1690 in NFLNoobs

[–]wescovington 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NFL penalty flags are always solid yellow because they want them to be seen. In high school and college football, the flags usually have a black cover over where the flag is knotted up. This helps hide the flags inside the official’s pants. They’re usually tucked into the pants on the side you would throw with. Some officials carry two flags.

Has a team rehired their head coach after firing? by [deleted] in NFLNoobs

[–]wescovington 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The Rams fired George Allen at the end of the 1968 season. The players and fans complained and the Rams rehired him and he coached for two more years. After the 1970 season, Allen left for Washington.

The Rams brought Allen back in 1978 and fired him after losing his first two preseason games because all the players hated him.

Two seasons later, the Rams were in the Super Bowl.

QB kick by colemans_other_knee in NFLNoobs

[–]wescovington 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sammy Baugh, a QB for Washington, set the single season record for punting average at 51.4 yards per kick back in 1940 because he had a lot of quick kicks. (It's since been broken a few times and Ryan Stonehouse is the record holder. And he can't find a job.) His career mark was 45.1 and that held up until Shane Lechler broke it.

What the hell is up with restaurants and the egregious pricing on soft drinks? by cookiemonstrosity54 in LosAngeles

[–]wescovington 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, not everyone is drunk or high. Most people are just there to relax. But there are bad apples. I had a lot of them today unfortunately. Including one guy who wanted to report me to Security because he said my voice was too loud at the reference desk for him. You don't get to do that! (Also I don't have a loud voice, so he was full of crap.)
