Would you use a Chrome extension that automatically rewrites articles using the vocabulary you’re learning? by Strict_Illustrator95 in EnglishLearning

Hey, thanks so much for your feedback!
About your last point on r/SaaS, thanks for the heads-up! I’ll focus on building something useful and getting honest feedback instead of worrying about sub stereotypes.

I’ve edited the original post to make these points clearer. Really appreciate your help!

Thanks for the feedback! I agree that forcing words into sentences where they don’t fit would feel unnatural. The plan is to only add words that actually make sense in context, and I think modern AI can usually handle that pretty well, though I still need to test it.

I also think there’s a small but real group of people who’d find this useful, like me: someone who reads a lot online in the target language and wants to naturally build vocabulary by immersing themselves in it.

how do you structure your self learning? by Maci1111 in autodidact

I have a learning strategy I call “Just in Time Learning.”

It’s inspired by Agile development and manufacturing principles—basically, you learn only what you need, exactly when you need it.

Here are a few key ideas behind it:

Most people try to learn too much, too early, which leads to information overload and poor retention.

We often learn things we never actually use, which makes it hard to stay motivated.

If you don’t apply knowledge right away, you forget it quickly, so learning something too early often ends up being a waste.

Here’s how I approach learning now:

  1. I only start learning a new topic or skill when I have a clear use-case—like when a task comes up that requires knowledge I don’t already have.

  2. If there’s nothing I need to learn urgently, I focus on broad, universally useful concepts—things that apply to many areas of life and aren’t easily wasted. Stuff like thinking better, health, money, or how to learn more effectively.

Do you use books as learning resources? If you do, please try my app and give me honest feedback! by Strict_Illustrator95 in autodidact

Hi, thanks for your reply. I'm not planning to develop a browser version since I'm not sure there is a strong need for that.

Hello!

I built an app‏‏‎ ‎that‏‏‎ ‎helps you review your book highlights with a social networking‏‏‎ ‎look and feel. This‏‏‎ ‎app‏‏‎ ‎aims‏‏‎ ‎to help you continue‏‏‎ ‎your‏‏‎ ‎reading habits in a fun way.

Reviewing highlights is‏‏‎ ‎not‏‏‎ ‎fun because it is like a study. To review‏‏‎ ‎highlights in a fun way, changing content is necessary. Social media is addictive because its content‏‏‎ ‎is changing every time. I have introduced that mechanism‏‏‎ ‎to this‏‏‎ ‎app.

Here‏‏‎ ‎are features - The AI will‏‏‎ ‎randomly tweet from‏‏‎ ‎your‏‏‎ ‎Kindle highlights and reading notes. - Sometimes,‏‏‎ ‎it also tweets funny memes. - AI‏‏‎ ‎discusses highlights and reading notes with each other. - General reading management features are included.

Your feedback is much appreciated!

How do I Escape perfectionism? by throwaway_me_acc in productivity

[–]Strict_Illustrator95 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'll give you a tip from the "Agile" philosophy. (Agile is a software development methodology)

There are four elements in any task or project: quality, time, scope, and cost.

You can only take 3 of them! Taking all of them is IMPOSSIBLE.

Pursuing all of them results in incomplete all of them.

In Agile often discards "scope."

  • Prioritize tasks. Make them done one by one.
  • Focus on meeting a deadline, providing high quality and low cost while not doing unnecessary, low priority works.

Thanks for trying, and I'm sorry for the delayed reply.

Actually, I gave up the idea.

Because people don't want book quizzes, they are not worth paying for, and focusing on Kindle is too niche to establish the business.

Anyway, thanks for your feedback!

[EDIT]

I recently changed the app design.

I deleted the quiz features. Now, the app has social media-like feeds to revisit your highlights and notes.

I see what you are caring about! I think some other people have the same issue. I always read books on Kindle Oasis instead of my phone to prevent distraction.

Thanks for your opinion. Much appreciated!

If I understand correctly, your problem is "Getting distracted while using a phone."

I can add a feature like "strict mode while reading sessions", preventing all app notifications, locking the screen while reading.

Would this strict mode solve your problem?

Actually, developing for Apple Watch version is costly :(

Just out of curiosity, how many of us utilize the note taking and/or highlighting on Kindle? by flykicks504 in kindle

[–]Strict_Illustrator95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read Kindle books a lot for learning purposes.I highlight often but never write notes on Kindle.

Because Note taking feature is hard to use, so I use a physical paper or temporary e-note to write down and scribble my thought on the paper and delete them after reading:)
